Siguro naman they can operate their power plants more effectively and efficiently than Napocor.

P3.5 billion is needed to complete Arena, says MOA exec

MANILA, Philippines — For sure, the NBA will only agree to hold a pre-season game in the Philippines if it has a world-class facility.
That’s one reason why officials of the Mall of Asia (MoA) Arena are moving heaven and earth to make sure the modern venue in Pasay City will be fit for kings.
“We’re spending P3.5 billion,” Edgar Tejerero, senior vice president for West Avenue Theatres Corporation said.
The MOA Arena officials are bidding to bring in an NBA exhibition game in October next year in the hopes of giving millions of Filipino fans a chance of a lifetime.
“If the NBA is looking for a home in the Philippines, this will be it,” Tejerero said.
The five-level venue, which opens May next year, can host 16,000 comfortably seating fans and has a full house capacity of 20,000.
All seat levels – Patron, lower box, upper box, general admissions and corporate suites – feature seats with cup holders and each level has at least 20 doors while some levels have retractable seats.
“It is western-designed. Unlike other venues, all ticket-holders, regardless of their ticket levels, will pass on the same gate,” Tejerero said.
“It’s also huge because we have at least 20 doors for the 2nd, 4th and 5th levels. So just imagine the number of securities we have to get. But we’re counting on the Filipinos’ honesty. We’re counting on the fans to be honest enough to sit where they are supposed to sit,” Tejerero said of the venue whose US-based interior designer also designed the Philips Arena in the US, the home of the NBA team Atlanta Hawks.
The corporate suite level has 40 rooms and each room can hold 20 persons. Each room has its own mini-bar, couches, restroom and viewing area.
There will be four dugouts, with hot and cold shower rooms with scoreboards similar to that of FedEx Forum Arena, the home of the Memphis Grizzlies. All members of the media will also have electronic cards which will serve as their passes.
The MOA Arena, which boasts of retractable seats and a 2,000-capacity car park building, is expected to rival the fabled Araneta Coliseum.
