Which school will you choose in joining as new member in the UAAP and NCAA?

UAAP have 8 member schools, and NCAA have 7 member schools & 2 schools under probationary.

Now there are schools in the metro wanted to join in the UAAP and NCAA for higher competition and exposures, and these schools are the ff:

Lyceum University - Currently joined in ISAA ( Inter-Scholastic Athletic Association)

    CEU - NAASCU & MNCAA

    RTU - NCRAA & SCUAA

    PUP - SCUAA & PISCUAA

Olivarez College - UCAA & NCRAA

Our Lady Of Fatima University - NAASCU

STI College Global City - NAASCU

Trinity University Of Asia - they joined in CUSA, a defuncted collegiate league.

    UA&P - MNCAA

La Consolacion College Manila - ISAA, MMCAA, & MNCAA

For you pex people, which of these schools are qualified in joining the NCAA & UAAP?

    Feel free to post, thanks!

I think in UAAP, two of the primary requirements are:
    1. University status.
    2. has a High School Department (owned or affiliated)

Although UA&P has the "brand" to become a UAAP member, it first need to have a high school team to represent them in them junior division of the league. I think not just one but four teams for junior division, especially basketball.

A member should be able to field at least four teams, to four different sport disciplines (one should be basketball), in both divisions: men's and juniors'. This requirement is the reason why Adamson and NU were able to hold on and secure a UAAP membership throughout the years. Kapag hindi nila ito ma-meet, their membership can be downgraded to proby, and possible revocation of membership.

Eight is the perfect number of teams in the UAAP and NCAA.

we have 8 from ncr so...

8 schools from luzon, 8 schools from visayas, 8 schools from mindanao

i like the idea of a national final four

arranging for this is easy, kung talagang gusto ng UAAP

PLM has to prove more most especially in athletics, that's why i did not include your school yet.

    To luiboowee,

As for your comment, the possible schools can enter in the uaap are:

    PUP
    RTU
    TUA (Trinity University of Asia)

These schools have high school team, others none.

For NCAA, i think La Consolacion College Manila is the only school can fill the last slot. They can compete with other schools such as San Beda, Mapua etc. As far as i know LCCM once beat San Beda in the FMC eliminations before.

Yan eh kung basketball lang ang UAAP. However, UAAP is not a basketball league.

Tulad nalang sa fencing na 4 or 5 teams lang ang nagcocompete with each other.

None of the proposed schools. 8 UAAP schools is enough.

If any of these schools want to play the UAAP schools, join the PCCL.

    NONE.

    Nada.

Oh USC, Stanford, UCLA, U of O and UW.

    Eight is enough.

pcu got suspended and is still suspended so that's 7.

arellano and EAC got added so that's 9.

i heard though that pcu is going to be reinstated next year. but i'm not sure.

Well true, pwedeng may umalis sa UAAP pero I think UST would be one of the last members to go... Malakas ang UAAP, there's a strong partnership between FEU, UP, and UST. These five universities have the funds and strong athletic programs, kaya that alone can prove na indispensable members sila. NU is becoming weak dahil hindi na nila mataas ang number of teams na mailaban sa ibang sports. UE has a strong athletics program. Remember, UAAP is not just a basketball league.

Pwede rin maging innovative by adding more disciplines like billiards, bowling, American football, and... who knows... boxing?

I think UAAP schools should focus on soccer too.

I disagree about the NU statement though. If anything, NU has been stepping it up lately with their athletics and academic program. It's one of the founding members and with the funding it's getting from the Sy's, NU will be with the UAAP for a very long time.
