like they said sa mga posts nila, mahirap i narrow down ang budget dahil subjective ito to where the destination is.

basta ako, before i go anywhere, i research first to find out the average cost of food, transpo, and housing per day para me idea ako sa common budget per person. outside of that would fall under pocket money na.

^ that's true, kaya hindi ko gaanong ma-gets kung bakit lagi ang tanong ng ibang tao kung magkano ang budget para sa ganito o ganyang trip. may internet naman para ma-research yang mga bagay na yan. first hand info pa.

    depends on where we go,

    Top US cities vary,

    1. New York- the most expensive city we went to, with most attractions having to be paid off, hotels definitely very expensive, so it's a plus if you have friends or relatives who can accommodate you.

    a. we chose to stay in nearby Jersey where hotels are much cheaper, approx- a hundred dollars per night,

    b. round trip cost per person going back and forth to NY each day from our hotel was around $10-12,

    c. Tour bus around NY for 3 days was about $70,

    d. Sum of tickets to several attractions around $200

    e. Food is at $20-$30 per meal of 3 people in some restaurants, others would be $20-30 per person.

So excluding my airfare, I spent around $700 in my 4 day stay in NY.

    2. DC- if you're going to the states, nothing beats DC as the top tourist destination, (for me lang naman).

Excluding the airfare, touring DC is surprisingly affordable.

    a. All you need to worry is the hotel which is around a hundred dollars per night in a 2-3 star hotel, so kung dalawa or tatlo kayo, that's only $30-50 per person.

    b. The tour buses are awesome, mga around $30 lang per person ,2 days including the night trip, and it will also take you to nearby Virginia to see Arlington and the Pentagon.

    c. Tour of some of the famous landmarks, federal buildings and of the 19 Smithsonian Museums are free!

    d. Food, around $15-$30 per person/ day.

So overall ang nagastos ko in DC was approx $300 lang for 3 days, excluding the airfare. But the sights and the landmarks to be seen are really great, so nakatipid ka talaga with a DC trip. And it's really safe coz police and security are everywhere.

Airline Tickets – Plan in advance and visit discount websites to see if there are better deals. While these sites might charge you a service fee ($5 or so), they can easily combine flight segments from different airlines easily to give you a great deal. (bonus – get even more savings by finding a Travelocity promo code before you book a trip)
Connecting Flights – You might think connecting sucks but it sure saves you a good chunk of money doing it. Consider the pros and cons and don’t write it off right away.
Travel Light – Airlines are starting to charge for everything now and if you have 2 bags or more, expect to be charged for it. Remember to not use over sized bags whenever possible and try to keep it all within one bag per person.
Substitute – Consider packing really old clothes (if you plan to buy new ones on the trip). This way, you can keep one luggage and still have room for purchases.
Always Look into Round Trip Tickets – Sometimes, one way tickets are so expensive that the round trip ticket is cheaper. Just don’t use the return trip. (I know it’s weird but I’ve seen it myself)
Try to Get Back to the Same Airport – Flying in and out of the same airport is almost always cheaper. It’s not only the flight tickets but the car rentals as well.
Traveling to Two Countries – If you are planning to stay in two countries and an airline makes you change planes on those countries anyway, you might be in luck. Check pricing on the flights to see if you can stay a few days at the country of the flight change instead of changing planes right away since airlines often let you do that for the same price.

for me, plan ahead.. Isipin mo na kung san mo gusto pumunta, tapos research ka na about sa place, like foods, attractions and accomodations. pag ok na lahat.. Wait for seat sale sa mga airlines. So, ma compute mo na agad more or less and buget for your trip.. By reading blogs mas mapapamura pa yung budget, pero depende pa din yun what food and accomodation you prefer.. But planning ahead of travel eh mas okei.. Or else get a travel agency for package tour, mas lalong okei..

    Chicago

    1. Hotel Accommodations near O Hare- $60-$80/day for the 2-3 star hotels, with shuttle service to the airport. $150-$250 in the downtown,

    2. From the airport- take the CTA (train), 45 min to the downtown- $2.00 one way. So its really cheap.

    3. Get off the station near the Union Station, I forgot what it was.

    4. Walk to nearby Sears tower- $14 for the Skydeck view

    5. Take the hop on and off, for a tour of the city and a drop off and pick up in its 10 point stops, $30 for 2 days, very worth it.

or take the bus, $2.00 per ride, which is ok, because the bus system is organized, and have stops in the different attractions and landmarks.

    6. Except for the Museums and Sears, other attractions are free, the Navy Pier, the Millennium Park, the Magnificent Mile, the Chicago theater, the Michigan beach, Buckingham Fountain, Chicago River, view of the Chicago Skyline from the planetarium, Lincoln Zoo.

    7. Food- casual cafe- $20-$30 per meal, stands like hotdog and burger kiosks- $5-$10.

Really, these big, awesome cities, New York, Chicago, and DC are very affordable places to visit.

For Local destinations, I make it a point not to exceed Php 5,000 for the duration of the trip but sometimes I exceed that budget. Key here is getting a seat sale.

Check out my trip expense reports:
For a 4D3N Camsur (Naga-Caramoan), I successfully budgeted it to Php 4,505.25 with airfare

For a 4d,3N Coron (with calauit safari), I exceeded my budget but it was my birthday anyway... Php 8,679.

For Butuan-Surigao del Sur-CDO, I spent Php 4,668 (with airfare!)

    For Saigon-Mekong Delta Vietnam, I spent Php 10,977 (all-in).

Budgeting really depends on your priority...how many days you stay, the activities that you do, your preference for accommodation, and your airfare!

    Heres my tip.

Every payday, set aside a particular amount for your much needed holiday .

You dont drain your savings account by just going to places only to be broke financially when you return back.

If you have just 300K in ur account, dont go to Europe and spend almost 280K just because its your dream. It took me 10 years to set aside a particular amount to realized my European dream.

http://poshtraveller.blogspot.com/I'm also a budget traveller.. and I try to limit my expense ideally to 10K if local travel lang, and 15K if foreign country. but that is only applicable to asian countries i guess...
