i love japanese dramas. they're short and edgy. mga 10 vcds lang tapos ka na the whole night. i have watched palang the dramas of kimura takuya. ang galing niya. he is like the biggest star in japan member of SMAP. si jerry and vic of F4 siya ang ginagaya. and he acts in different roles.... minsan pilot, public prosecutor, hair stylist, concert pianist, architect, chef.....

    watch kimura takuya in 2046

Highly recommended for me is Good Luck by Takuya Kimura.

This was the first j-drama that I've watched and what a great way to be introduced to their style of story telling.

As mentioned by honeybums, j-drama are short and edgy. The main focus is not usually the love story between the leads (which is usually the case for korean series, dont get me wrong, i also love k-series), rather on the character development of the leads and the sub leads as well.

GTO, or Great Teacher Onizuka (?) was also good though for me a teensy bit dragging as every episode tackles student issue then GTO solving them.

I've watched Long Vacation too, Takuya was also the lead here...the story was simple but filled with sweet moments, especially "the kiss"

In Good Luck, Takuya played a junior pilot and it was pretty amazing that Air Nippon allowed them to shoot on their hangar (I'm assuming that it was a live set). Akshuali I dreamt of being a pilot kaya lang I'm scared of heights (just kidding...about the heights )

No harm in trying j-dramas, it's worth it (and less expensive too since it has fewer discs ).

I'd also like to recommend Crying Out Love, In The Center Of The World, or Sekachu for short. There's a movie version that most people deem inferior, although IMO, it's not that shabby.

Be With You is apparently going to have a J-Dorama adaptation too, so that's another thing to look forward to.
