Luis Manzano revealed after his contract signing with ABS-CBN that there is a planned movie that will star him and his fellow Kanto Boys John Lloyd Cruz, Billy Crawford, and Vhong Navarro. “Mayroon yata kaming gagawing Kanto Boys movie. Inaayos pa rin kaya hindi pa ganun ka-pormal. Pero at least nandun na ‘yung offer. Hinihintay na lang ‘yung story at ‘yung contract signing,” said Luis. Kanto Boys is the boy group formed in ASAP, which mostly features the four guys incorporating comedy into their production numbers.
Luis admitted that he is overwhelmed with the warm reception that the Kanto Boys have gotten from the public. “For us basically we’re just having fun on stage and everyone knows kung gaano kagagaling ang mga performers sa ASAP. Kami lang sa lahat ng Kapamilya ang may license magkalat. Mas nae-enjoy pa nga yata ng mga tao kapag nagkakalat kami.” Luis was not originally a member of the said group, as he was only hired after filling in for Mark Bautista and Sam Milby during the ASAP show in Guam.
Although the Kanto Boys would often just have fun on stage, Luis shared that the four of them take their rehearsals very seriously. “Believe it or not nagre-rehearse talaga kami. Usually mga two days before and even before the performance mismo.” Luis and Billy, who are currently working together as hosts of Pilipinas Got Talent, would only have time to rehearse after their PGT live show.
Luis shared that he is thankful that the fun of the Kanto Boys on stage also reflects how they are all good friends in real life. “We’re very happy that it started out as a fun group, then naging barkada in real life, ngayon napagisipan nang bigyan ng isang movie.”
