    Iron Man 3

The movie season of the Summer of 2010 got its start last week with the opening of Iron Man 2, and as the stars did press for that movie, they dropped new information about related upcoming projects. First, there is Iron Man 3, which has been known to be pretty much a sure thing at some point after 2012's The Avengers. Director Jon Favreau confirmed that in Iron Man 3, he hopes to finally bring the Mandarin, arguably Iron Man's most iconic villain into the mix (after being hinted at in the first movie). What Favreau is currently struggling with is how to portray the Mandarin, who in the comics wears ten rings, each of which give him a different super power. Favreau calls them "magical," but their Marvel Comics origin is actually from an alien spaceship. Samuel L. Jackson also revealed this weekthat there are plans, after The Avengers, for Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D. to get their own movie. In addition to Jackson as Nick Fury, a S.H.I.E.L.D. movie might also feature Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson and Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow (and she's also a strong contender to be a member of The Avengers as well). Jackson also said that War Machine (Don Cheadle) is "gonna show up a lot." As for other movies based on Marvel characters (though not produced by Marvel Studios), there is X-Men: First Class. This week, we learned who the writers working on X-Men: First Class are. First, there is the writing team of Ashley Edward Miller and Zack Stentz, who cowrote Agent Cody Banks, and have also written episodes of Fringe and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. The details are unclear, but it appears that Miller and Stentz got the latest version of the script started, and they are now being joined in rewrites by Jane Goldman. Goldman's involvement is unsurprising, as she cowrote (with director Matthew Vaughn) both Stardust and Kick-***. Vaughn might need Goldman's help in getting the script done quickly, as Fox's June 3, 2011 release date is only getting closer.

    Raza as the Mandarin

It's looking more and more likely the Mandarin will be one of the villains in Iron Man 3.

Faran Tahir, who played Raza -- the leader of the Ten Rings Terrorist organisation that imprisoned Tony Stark at the beginning of the first Iron Man -- has been speaking about his character becoming the moustached-supergenius.

He told Moviefone: "At some point, they want to introduce Mandarin into the storyline and my character, like Mandarin, was the leader of the Ten Rings. We're leaving it open because, partly, it makes good business sense for us to leave a little bit of uncertainty for people to speculate on."

Will Raza become Mandarin in Iron Man 3? Will he?

Tahir went on: "He [Favreau] has known for a long time where he wants to take it and I don't want to speak for him, but my feeling is that the second movie didn't want to just follow a singular storyline. They wanted to expand the characters to show that it's not a linear saga like Lord of the Rings. There's a linkage somewhere in there, but the big idea is to do at least one more Iron Man movie and then go into The Avengers."

Shane Black Confirms Hell Write the Script for IRON MAN 3

The studio was not happy with the direction Iron Man 2 took. Iron Man 3 will not be another two men in iron suits fighting each other film. Instead, it will be more like a Tom Clancy-thriller, with Iron Man fighting real world villains.

Iron Man 3 will be made after The Avengers and will not feature any other heroes from the Marvel Universe. Marvel is only doing crossover characters to lead up to The Avengers, and once that film is released, the plan is to go back to self-contained single-character stories.

Ben Kingsley in talks to play Villain

Ben Kingsley cast in Iron Man 3. Ben Kingsley is currently in final negotiations for the lead villain in Shane Blacks Iron Man 3 (2013). Ben Kingsley was originally suspected of playing the Mandarin, a wealthy Chinese scientist and martial arts expert who, by backing the warlord who imprisoned Stark, was indirectly responsible for his creating Iron Man.

Instead, Ben Kingsley will be playing a character who is involved in the spread of a virus through nanobots, given that Iron Man 3′ is loosely based on Warren Ellis six-issue Extremis comicbook series first published in 2005. That arc which also heavily influenced the first Iron Man pic introduced a new origin story and focused heavily on nanotechnology.

Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Don Cheadle are all reprising their previous roles for the previous Iron Man films.

On the behind-the-scenes people involved in Iron Man 3:

Louis DEsposito will executive produce Iron Man 3″ for Marvel Studios, with Stan Lee and Charles Newirth. Marvel Studios Kevin Feige will produce the pic with Avi Arad.

Production on Marvel Studios Iron Man 3 is set to start this May 2012. Iron Man 3 will be released in US theaters through Walt Disney Pictures on May 3, 2013.

Guy Pearce is in final talks to join Marvel Studios and Disney's "Iron Man 3" as the geneticist Aldrich Killian.

Plot will borrow elements from Warren Ellis' six-issue "Iron Man: Extremis" comicbooks, that also heavily influenced the first "Iron Man" pic, and focuses heavily on the spread of a virus through nanotechnology.

In the books, Killian co-created the Extremis technology that Iron Man adopts after Killian sells it to terrorists.

Shane Black is helming the film, that brings back Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark and Iron Man, along with Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle and Scarlett Johansson also set to return to the franchise. Ben Kingsley is set to play the villain.

Chinese superstar Andy Lau is in final negotiations to play an old friend of Tony Stark's, who helps him defeat The Mandarin.

It is said that the actor's unknown role, "represents the technology sector" of China. The Mandarin has been long rumored to be the villain of this sequel, although the role has not been cast yet.

If a deal becomes finalized, the Infernal Affairs star joins a cast which includes Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Ben Kingsley, and Jessica Chastain.

^hindi naman, may sariling mundo naman si Iron Man. Gusto ko sana ipakita na yung project Ultron siyempre with Dr. Pym (aka. Ant-Man)

Hopefully they push this one back until 2014. They need to build up the "other" guys in the Avengers, like Captain America, Black Widow, Hawkeye or even Nick Fury.

James Badge Dale Joins IRON MAN 3 as Eric Savin

With production only a few weeks away, the cast is firming up for director Shane Blacks Iron Man 3. Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, and Don Cheadle are all set to return for the third installment of the Iron Man franchise, with Sir Ben Kingsley, Guy Pearce, and Rebecca Hall rounding out the newcomers of the cast. Now one more Marvel newbie has been added in a particularly interesting role, as Variety reports that James Badge Dale (The Pacific) has joined the cast as Eric Savin aka Coldblood.

The plot of Iron Man 3 is said to draw heavily from Warren Ellis Iron Man: Extremis comic series and will reportedly involve nanotechnology and the spread of a virus. Kingsley is set as the villain (rumored to be The Mandarin), Pearce is playing Aldrich Killian, and Hall is poised to play a scientist who matches wits with Tony Stark.

Dale will be playing Eric Savin. In the comic series, Savin was a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army at Camp Killan who was put in charge of Project: Ultra. More interesting, though, is the fact that the character eventually stepped on a land mine and was resurrected as the cyborg Coldblood via cybernetic surgery. Theres no word on whether hed appear as Coldblood in Iron Man 3 or if his role in this film is simply setting the character up for future Marvel installments, but its certainly an exciting prospect.

According to Latino Review, Ben Kingsley will play the Mandarin, but hes more a veiled threat as a silent partner to Guy Pearces [scientist] Aldrich Killian. Killian is the man inventing Extremis and putting it into his Extremis army of multiple super-powered individuals. Those super-powered individuals could very well be Coldblood (Dale) and Firepower (Hamilton), who get their powers out of the Extremis project.
