Facebook : advantage and disadvantage

is it a crime to not be a facebook member these days? someone once asked for my facebook account. when i told her i didn't have one, she got offended. i think she assumed everybody has one and i didn't want to add her or something. it's weird.

Facebook has lots of advantages including meeting new people and finding old friends.




But the obvious disadvantage of Facebook is the availability of your personal profile or your private life on the Internet for many people to see. Of course, you have complete control over what the content of your profile is. However, it is important to realize that nothing is foolproof and by joining Facebook you will lose a level of privacy.




Another disadvantage I could think of is the Persona/Private vs Professional life. I mean, one downside of a social networking site is that they tend to expose sides of people which are very different from their own professional side.

to each his own.. but for me, the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. call me old fashioned or what (i am, actually ).. old school.. but i dont have a Multiply, FS, account. i have an FB account but i seldom open it.

boring/awkward naman kung 20 lang contacts mo, padami ng padami yan siyempre.

kahit pa 100 lang contacts mo it doesnt mean sila rin lang 100 nakakakita ng mga contents doon. puwede naman makinood sa likod mo ang lima mo pang kaibigan eh.

Facebook definitely helps you reconnect with your friends. Especially how we usually eventually lose touch with most of our schoolmates/colleagues once we've graduated/moved to a different company.

The downside is, there are just some people who feel like they have to collect friends and adds people up just because they came from the same school Even though the five or more academic years difference should clearly indicate that more likely than not, we don't know you. This happens to me alot and because I don't want to come out too rude, I sometimes make an effort and ask my friends and then accept the request just because they do remember.

Another obvious downside is when you've proudly changed your relationship status to "in a relationship with -", got tons of congratulations and "I'm so happy for the both of you", and then suddenly find yourself single again after a few months

I personally didnt post my real name in Facebook.. Nakakaloka din na yung ibang members, they post their real home address and phone number..

advantage: makikita mo yung old friends mo. you can keep in touch with them. at makakapag laro ka ng mga kahayupan at makakasali ka sa mga sindikato.

disadvantage: nakabuyang-yang sa iba ang buhay mo. lalo na kung ikaw yung tipong lahat ng nasa isip at ginagawa mo ay naka shout-out o pinipiktyuran .

disadvantage/s : nagiging paranoid ka lalo na kung may karelasyon

( may mga places pala siya na napuntahan ng di mo alam na nagpunta siya kasi natag siya sa photos, may mga friends sa fb niya na ang gaganda, hehe (selos or insecure ka ?) , feeling mo may kachat siya tapos girl pala, and worst di pala in a relationship ang status niya sa FB ! )

pag may naiinis sayo kung ano anong negative shout out ang nilalagay para mabasa ng mga friends mo, imbes na ipahinga mo na lang mag e-fb ka pa kasi feeling mo nga nahuhuli ka na sa balita.

I always want to learn ADOBE PHOTOSHOP but everytime I try I always end up on FACEBOOK. The moment I start to see a NOTIFICATION, it never stops. And the moment I got finished browsing FB, tinatamad na kong gawin ang task ko.

It takes discipline. hay!

Advantages:

you get to see old friends, magkaroon ng pagkakataon to have a chat even for a while, facebook brought me to see former classmates in a long time, nagkaroon ng get-togethers and excited the following day sa mga uploaded photos of reunions. living social, applications, games and fan sites are all educating.

disadvantages

a year after, nagkaroon ng gap between some of my batchmates in school, gossips, intrigues and bitterness sa mga posted comments, wala kasi privacy and your personal life would be known by people you aren't even close but as they say so-called friends padded on the lists.

disadvantage: people tend to become SHOW-OFF. pati mga walang kakwenta-kwentang bagay ipinopost pa. OA na. And i dont really like it. Kaya ngayon lagi lang ako lurk mode. Advantage: I can chat with my classmates about school-related matters (if let's say I don't have their number, they don't reply, they're not on ym ). I also like the games there.

Disadvantage: As was mentioned, you lose some privacy. Also, this:
