    my thai basil's fine. i noticed my thai basil is a lot more thirsty than my other basil varieties. but other than that it seems ok. kala ko mamamatay na then i just watered, it perked back up. a little coffee grounds for a quick boost of nutes. buhay na uli.

    yung sweet basil patch namin tuwang tuwa sa ulan.

    thanks.
    i am really having hard time with the thai basil. I bought the ones sold over at Manila Seedling Bank, buhay na buhay.... hay. nakakadepressed pag namatay yun plant.

    it loves the sun, it's probably either overwatering or too much heat. keep it in a shaded area with at least 8 hours or light.

    pano ba gumawa ng pesto? kailangan ba may garlic?

    this is the recipe i followed:

    This classic Italian sauce is so easy and versatile, you'll want to keep some always on hand in the refrigerator. Pesto is traditionally made with pine nuts, garlic, olive oil, basil, and Parmesan cheese. It's most popular use is tossed with pasta. Walnuts may be substituted for pine nuts in a pinch.
    Prep Time: 5 minutes
    Total Time: 5 minutes
    Ingredients:

    * 2 tablespoons coarse-chopped walnuts or pine nuts
    * 2 garlic cloves, peeled
    * 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
    * 4 cups basil leaves (about 4 ounces)
    * 1/2 cup (2 ounces) grated fresh Parmesan cheese
    * 1/4 teaspoon salt

    Preparation:
    You will need a food processor or strong blender. With the motor running, drop the pine nuts and garlic through the feed chute. Process until finely minced. Add the olive oil and pulse three times. Add basil, Parmesan cheese, and salt to the processor bowl. Process until finely minced, scraping down sides.

    Refrigerate leftovers and use within 1 week.

    Yield: 3/4 cup

    i followed it loosely. lots and lots of salt. hehe. and a bunch more olive oil.

    i didn't have pine nuts or walnuts so i used regular roasted peanuts.

    tastes good. not as healthy as using the other stuff but good none-the-less.

    a bit of trivia, peanuts are not really nuts. they're legumes! more related to beans =D

    my arugula plants:

    i still have a 2nd pot of arugula that are still seedlings. lumalaki na den sila so i'm happy with that.

    maybe i should plant arugula in a larger pot, might encourage them to grow larger leaves, but older leaves make bitter leaves which is not good. hmmmm.....

    my thyme grown from seed, getting taller by the week:

    I'm at the beginning with herb and spicy in my garden. Now I'm trying basil, onion, garlic, ginger and rosemary! They're now really small but I hope they'll grow up fast! It sounds really nice to make food with your own ingredients ^^
