ah, sige, I'll try that too. Sana magwork sa akin. I'm experimenting with rain water kasi kung mas mabilis sya magpalago ng halaman compared sa regular maynilad water. haha. natry nyo na rin ba yun?

Good luck and share here the outcome.

barbie_q, taga san ka po? just wanna know if purple sage is actually locally available dito sa atin.

just came from cartimar yesterday. bought some herbs there and some compost. generally the same pricing with the sellers at manila seedling bank.

bought rosemary, more tarragon, swiss mint, lemon balm, and lavender there.

wow, finally an edit button! yay!

also bought a naniwa sharpening stone there. another toy for me in the kitchen! lol.

cartimar isn't hard to find. you turn right on cartimar street on taft then you turn again then left then right. you'll see the shops that sell the plants.

dami den iba't ibang mga binebenta dito. too bad i didn't have enough time to go through them all since i only had half a day to get to what i need to do.

Taga Cavite ako, pero sa makati ako nagwowork. Sa saturday market dito sa legaspi carpark ako nakabili ng basil(50pesos), saka rosemerry(80pesos). Merong purple basil! Kaso di ko kasi alam kung edible din yun kaya hindi ko binili. meron din silang parsley at thai basil at dill, etc. failure kasi ako when it comes to starting plants from seeds. namamatay sila sa akin eventually e. kaya bumibili ako ng established plant na then yung mom ko na nagpaparami through cuttings if possible.

purple basil is edible. if it smells like basil, looks like basil and tastes like basil then it's basil. lol.

there are dozens of varieties of basil. i have about six kinds in seed form. only growing holy basil, thai basil, lemon basil and sweet basil at the moment. super precious ang iba kong seeds kaya di ko ginagamit agad. lol.

mahal ang nabili mong herbs, 3 for 100 lang yan dapat. pero depende den sa laki. rosemary mahal talaga dahil mabagal lumaki at lagi ako namamatayan. pero malakas na loob ko kse i've been able to keep one rosemary plant alive for close to 1.5 years now. i have added two more since then and they're growing nicely. mahirap sa rosemary ay ang spidermites and black aphids. kelangan mo talga paliguan ng pesticide kung gusto mo mabuhay halaman mo.

basil, parsley, dill, and many other herbs are just annuals. they live for about a year and flower then die. pero parsley is a biennial (two years), they flower on their second year, just like their cousins the carrot. dill will live for more than two years, basta the kind that are tall and grassy so long as you trim them down severely but not too severely na di na mabubuhay ha! lol.

mas mura sa cartimar, centris and manila seedling kesa sa salcedo and legaspi market. pero bihira ako makakita ng oregano (not italian, not cuban) na binebenta don. gourmet's lang nagbebenta non na live, including marjoram. kaya bili na agad pag may nahanap. mas mahal nga lang pero no choice ka, chaka maganda naman tubo.

then thyme square lang meron ng golden oregano.

basil is very easy to grow from cuttings. rosemary is quite hard as they're woody.

purple basil ko na kimg strain ay green na green na! hahahahaha!

Ah! then I shall buy next time the other varieties.
