Liberal stalwart endorses Nacionalista bet
FORMER senator Franklin Drilon, a Liberal Party (LP) senatorial candidate, is strongly endorsing the candidacy of Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas of the Nacionalista Party (NP) for the lone congressional district of the city.
Drilon said he is endorsing Treñas and mayoral candidate Vice Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog in May 10 elections, as he needs a dynamic team to implement improvements in the city.
"I am going to restore order in Iloilo, especially in business, through Treñas and Mabilog. Mabudlay kon may mabalabag sang akon mga program para sa syudad kag probinsya sang Iloilo. (It is really hard if someone will block my development programs for the city)," Drilon said.
Drilon, a full-blooded Ilonggo from the city district of Molo, Iloilo City, was former Labor and Justice secretary, Senate president and senator for two terms.
Through his leadership, he was able to bring, among others, projects like the improved Port of Iloilo; new airport of international standards, transport facilities; Iloilo Hall of Justice; Quirino bridges; and 50 school buildings with the help of the Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce.
The former senator also bared his programs for the Iloilo City and province, such as the need for reliable power at a reasonable cost; water, education, health, livelihood and business development.
All these programs will not be implemented without Treñas and Mabilog in the Congress and City Government, respectively, said Drilon.
