everytime I read "MIT", it never fails to remind of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Kung di ako Pilipino baka naisip ko "Why would you compare MIT to UST?!"

Well anyway, Alam kong magaling ang mga engineer ng Mapua. Kaklase ko ng HS nasa Mapua ngayon, Mech Engg. Top 1 sya since 1st year. Isa sya sa team ng Mapua na pupunta ng Kuala Lumpur para sumabak sa isang event na involved sa paggawa ng isang kotse na makakatulong sa environment.

Currently tapos na yung pinaka kotse. Yung concept nila is to use 1/4 liter of gas tapos 1000 km ang takbo.

Kudos sa mga Mapuans na kayang tiisin ang 4 sem per year. Di biro yun.

as for the question: Kahit na Thomasian ako, kung kaya mo mag Mapua mag Mapua ka nalang.

quarterm - mabilis ang transition ng lessons, not that good if you're not fast learner.
tuition fee - almost doble ng sa UST Eng'g, mahal dito talaga.
connection - madaming Mapuan sa industry, might help you to land a job easier.
subjects/grades - common ang singko dahil sa mentality ng professor (no mercy) na kunin na lang ulit next term.
engineering prestige - kahit sabihin pang nagdedeteriorate ang quality these past few years, Mapua name still manages to help its graduates in landing a job

board exam - better than Mapua in terms of passing rate but seldom produces topnotchers in Eng'g, but mas acceptable naman un kesa with topnotcher/s but low passing rate.
retention policy - malakas daw tanggalan, debarred ata term nila.




I've studied in Mapua for almost three years before I transferred to another school. If I were to choose again between Mapua and UST, I'd go for UST this time. Mapua fcuked my transcript, and even some good students experience this. I had some from-UST classmates in Mapua who didn't have failures in UST but got a lot of singkos in Mapua. In my case, I don't flunk subjects anymore at my current school even if my course is relatively harder, having the highest standard (flagship course) in the university. I wish I never have gone to Mapua and should've opted for UST Architecture few years back.


Oh well, I'm regretful.

But Mapua will always be part of my life.

it's a given that ust is one the finest school in the country because it is one of the oldest (almost the oldest). we should give credit and respect where it is due and ust deserves them.

I'd give this one to UST.
Personally, I have nothing against Mapua since it has, undoubtedly, produced hundreds of thousands of engineers who excel in their chosen fields. But what we should put into consideration is the current performance of both schools in the board exams. The figures clearly show that Mapua is not even at par to UST's number of board passers. Just my two cents.
