ay kuya clawed_out tinamaan ka pala?

    hahahahahaha

di ba po Tomasino ka? Nag graduate ka sa UST po?

    What year po?

Academic Placement - applicant did not met the required cut-off scores of his/her choice. however, he/she qualify for the minimum cut-off set by university. thus, he/she will be considered in any programs that still have available slot.

And nakalagay rin sa letter ko na Academic Placement is equal to PASSED.

And I'm very thankful that I at least deserve to be a THOMASIAN student since I PASSED other programs/courses.

ibang neighbor ko kasi DID NOT QUALIFY eh.

yung isa nursing, yung school niya is one of the best in the philippines but kahit isa walang nag ooffer sa kanya ng trabaho knowing the FACT na napaka prestigious ng pinanggalingan niya.

Another thing to consider is that Mapua is offering engineering courses
that can be completed in four years, compared to UST which I believe
is five. That is of course, if he doesn't incur any failure during his stay.

Mapua's tuition and fees are a lot more expensive,
if I'm not mistaken it costs around 80k+ annually, and UST at 45k+.

I have friends coming from both of these schools and I must say that
whatever school he choose, he won't be disappointed.

    Good luck!

    That should say something.
UST's FACULTY OF ENGINEERING is BEtter than MIT's

Hindi lang company, as in well known company dito sa Pinas.

and yung name ng Mapua Institute of technology ay magiging pangalan ng College of Engineering nila.

it's PACUCOA. correct me if im wrong, but UST's faculty of engineering is not evaluated by PACUCOA but by PAASCU (though programs such as pharmacy, nursing, medical technology, OT, tourism etc are evaluated by PACUCOA) so we cannot compare the schools' level of accreditation.

    anyway, for mapua:

    CIVIL ENGINEERING - Level IV
    ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING - Level III
ENVIRONMENTAL AND SANITARY ENGINEERING - LEVEL III
    INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING - LEVEL III
    ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING - LEVEL III
    COMPUTER ENGINEERING - LEVEL III
    MECHANICAL ENGINEERING - LEVEL II
    CHEMICAL ENGINEERING - LEVEL II
MATERIAL SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING - LEVEL II

Also, Electrical Engineering (EE), Computer Engineering (CpE), and Electronics Engineering (ECE) applied for ABET and was visited by the accreditors last year. Decisions on the accreditation of these programs are expected to be released by ABET in 2010.

In January 2010, five other engineering programs applied for non-domestic accreditation with ABET. Campus visits of these programs are expected on the months of September to December of this year.

***ABET is the recognized accreditor for college and university programs in applied science, computing, engineering and technology in the United States. For students, graduation from an ABET- accredited programs signifies adequate preparation for entry into the profession. In fact, many employers overseas require graduation from an ABET-accredited program as a minimum qualification. ABET accreditation therefore shall make possible the mobility of MAPUA engineering graduates to practice in the United States of America and in other countries where ABET is recognized.

Go for Mapua. It's still one of the best engineering school. If you dont have the money, go to UST.

I am a Mapua Alumnus (CE ’06), have passed the licensure exam 4 years ago and working here in UAE for 2 years already.

But the last time I’ve checked the website, they updated it already.

Pero may advantage din ang quarterm dahil we graduated after 4 years. I got ahead of my profession quite early and now I’m working abroad, well-paid in my work at an early age. Hindi ko masasabi na “hilaw” ako to be a Civil Engineer dahil I feel competent when I’m with my co-Engineers from other countries.

One of the best things Mapua can offer is after grad, it is quite easy to find work (based on mine and batch mates' experience). Some companies abroad conduct in-campus recruitment and they get a great number of engineers from fresh grad/alumni. Some of my friends are working already in SG and some in Middle East countries. Kahit noong time ko, the company that hired us here in UAE got our name for the grad list of our batch to be their cadet engineers.

But if you have the chance to enter UP, DLSU or UST, and then go for these schools. In my honest opinion, Mapua is a good school but maybe not the best. But regardless of your school, you can be the best in your profession if you only have the confidence, knowledge and right attitude.

what we do here is we give the TS the facts. As a mapuan, i speak for my school, i lay down the facts, i give the strengths of the institute (e.g. accreditation status) and as far as im concern walang nakakatawa dun. and yes, hindi impressive ang performance ng mapua sa boards. .

accreditation body basically assess Program Educational Objectives, Program Outcomes, Curriculum, Faculty, Facilities etc. In short, given the accreditation, you are assured that the institution prepares you to be a competitive graduate to practice your profession. And yes when i say competitive it's not bounded by just passing the multiple choice board exam.

Anyway, i respect your opinion and i still believe that passing the board exam makes you ahead of others.

Nice answer tonix. Tama iyan, just give the facts about MIT.

By the way, kudos sa Overheard mo sa FB. Keep it up!
