papoo_notpapoo, did you inquire prior to submitting your requirements if you could be admitted in MIS or were you told to take DCS instead?

Yup i did inquire through email and they just said that I can submit the requirements for DCS. It's ok naman.. just want to know what they will do about the requirements I already submitted...

Natapos na ba ni Sharon Cuneta ang course nyang Associate in Arts sa UPOU? Sabi nya daw kasi sa isang interview that she's bent to earn a bachelor's degree (on-campus) after her AA. I know she's kind a bit old, but she's the one and only megastar.

Hi everyone im a student at the UP Open University. Pero nagdrop ako kasi may work ako sa ngayon. Kung balak nyo po talaga mag Open U dapat po highly motivated kayo kasi wala masyado magpush sainyo kundi mga sarili nyo lang. Dapat magaling kayo sa time management kasi kung minsan magkakasabay talaga yung mga assignments na kailangan nyong ipasa. Para sakin maganda pa rin yung conventional classroom education.

may degree programs na ba upou?

yes meron na sila yung tinatawag nilang BAMS (Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia Studies) kaso medyo may mga qualifications dapat na ma-meet. I think dapat matapos mo muna yung Associate in Arts program nila before ka mag BAMS. Ayon sa kanilang website may mga subjects ka na dapat mo kunin in a residential program sa ibang UP units. Hope that helps.

@chae... ako na sasagot... as buboybibo, you need good time management skills. hindi online yung learning since ibibigay na sa inyo yung materials pag start ng semester. may course guides na ibibigay sa inyo at nakalagay dun yung mga magiging assignments nyo at deadlines. mahirap sya kung cramming ka at nag-aaral lang pag malapit na deadlines ng assignments. kung hindi mo kaya maglaan ng time for studies during weekdays, ok lang weekends ka magconcentrate mag-aral. nasa sa iyo yun... ikaw mismo ang makakatulong sa sarili mo... saka, build kayo ng network ng classmates mo... super makakatulong yun.

@ chae: as i said in my previous post a very good time management will really be the key in an Open U setting. yung online na sinasabi nila eh parang pex lang din. you post a topic (or the teachers sometimes) and then you discussed it in a message board. meron din akong prof dito na may chat session sa YM. may mga profs din na sa online nagpapasa ng mga assignments and requirements (UPOU myPortal). Yung mga modules na binibigay eh yung tumatayong textbook para don sa class na naka-enroll ka usually din you have to buy a separate supplemental book.

Dun sa nagtanong about Sharon (ozakii ata?). I know someone na nag AA this sem at classmate niya si mega sa Comm I class nya (Ito lang ang i-enroll nya this sem). Nag drop daw si ate shawie with matching e-mail pa sa mga ka-klase nya (actually nabasa ko din yung e-mail na yon ). Ayon dun sa e-mail nya may gagawin daw kasi siyang mga projects at trabaho (showbiz!) kaya hindi niya maaasikaso yung mga requirements, tapos kailangan pa niyang i-complete yung INC grade nya sa humanities class niya the previous term. Tapos drop siya sa soc sci 1 nung last term. Bale to sum it up malayo pa bago matapos si mega kasi nakaka 9 units pa lang siya ng naipasa (make it 12 kung magkagrade sya sa hum), eh diba atleast 30 units to transfer from one UP unit to another?

Haba na ng post ko may showbiz factor pa!

tumatanggap ba sila ng enrollee na wala sa pinas? o kelangan nasa pinas talaga? pano yung entrance exam?

gusto ko po kasi mag-enroll and wala naman ako sa pinas kaya mejo hesitant ako ..

nakaenroll na ko, yes!!! pwede mag.enroll *** offshore students. may separate procedure nga lang sa registration. just email the admin.

@draindead ... yup pwede ka enroll kahit ala ka sa pinas... kahit hindi ka rin pinoy pwede rin... i've got classmates from papua new guinea, cambodia, india, US, singapore, UK, etc. entrance exam is only for AA, MPM, PhD... check mo na lang sa www.upou.org kung ano requirements nung gusto mong program... btw, final exams for offshore students e kadalasan sa phil embassy or partner universities...

Hindi ba yun guyz mahirap...Hindi ka pa nakakapagsocialize sa iba kasi modular study lang yon.. Pano po tung mga exams don? Grades? ano ang basis?

@gregzzz: may mga exams daw. un *** required kang pumunta sa learning center. tapos maraming paperworks.

@chae: ako nga din. maraming officeworks, baka di ako makaattend ng orientation. baka pickupin ko lang *** modules. but then, *** kakilala ko sa upou sabi minsan na nga makikita *** classmates di pa ko aattend. kaya ang hirap magdecide. btw, what time *** orientation? di ko natanong sa lc last visit ko e.

alex010101, havent asked the people sa office kung anong time start ng orientation.. excited na ko to meet my teacher, hopefully sa 2nd distribution of modules.
