What is the most creepy religion for you?

hindi po ito nitpicking thread ah. (pictures accepted)
hinihingi ko lang po ang opinyon mo at dahilan.

    para sa'kin:

    for me, catholics ang pinaka-creepy...
sa mga suot nila tapos sa Lima, Peru yoong mga skeleton
nakatago sa underground ng simbahan nila na nakadamit nung
katulad ng damit ni St. Francis of Assissi really creepy...

    Creepy?

    In terms of WHAT?

I suggest the TS lay down the criteria for "CREEPINESS"

    ^No need. Creepy is subjective.

that is indeed creepy, but growing up as a catholic, that used to be fine for me.

knowledgeable catholics know that it's a wax job ala madame toussade (sp). they never explicitly state that and allow average, gullible catholics to believe/assume it's really Bernadette's skin.

hey, anything to strengthen the faith.

not quite lying, but just as effective.

as for the topic. It's hard to be objective with these things, unless you were brought up isolated from any religion. Growing up as a catholic, I don't think it's creepy. I think it's even beautiful in parts. But that's because I was indoctrinated at such a young age.

Imagine a young boy growing up during the height of the mayan empire. human sacrifice isn't that creepy to them. same thing with us who grew up in catholic countries. weekly (symbolic/literal?) cannibalism (skyflakes cracker to flesh), mummified bodies and self flagellation is just fine.

    .
So what do you call this...not nitpicking? And why nitpick on one religion? Isn't nitpicking:

    –verb (used without object)
1.to be excessively concerned with or critical of inconsequential details.
    –verb (used with object)
2.to criticize by focusing on inconsequential details.?

And what's so creepy about attires and dead people in casket?
When you go to a wake of a dead person do you feel creepy about it?
And what's creepy about being dead? Don't we die all?

well we can use innocent young kids. my daughter when she was 5 years old, she gets freaked out by mannequins. and got terrified by the imahens at the house of our relatives. mas lalo na kapag nakita niya iyung mga incorruptible wax figures na nasa kabaong.

I guess that's a good gauge. as far as ceremonies and rituals go, we can safely say Islam is less creepy than Catholic rites. They are not obsessed with the dead, suffering and images. as far as malevolence goes.....
