    reposting this:

Kim Yu-Na of South Korea, favoured to win gold in Vancouver, does not do a triple loop. The 2008 world champion, Mao Asada of Japan, will attempt two triple Axels - something no other woman does - but she does neither the triple Salchow, nor the difficult triple Lutz. The 2007 world champion, Miki Ando of Japan, does not do a triple flip in her routine. And Mirai Nagasu, the 2010 U.S. silver medalist, does not do a triple Salchow.
    Wow, kanya-kanyang iniiwasan.
Ang cool lang if Mao will be able to master Triple Lutz and Triple Salchow nga.

Patrick Chan's edges are so deep and excellent because his old coach Don laws made him study and practice edges. Amongst the more recent crop of ladies skater its Michelle Kwan who has the best edges and she did study this as well one way or the other under Frank Carroll. other female skaters now don't have that good edges. compulsories or school figures was one of the factor that led to the introduction of the short program in 1973.

Plus the shoes! They're not comfortable!

This refers to the guidelines for skaters' costumes that were adopted after Katarina Witt showed up at the 1988 European championships wearing a skimpy showgirl costume trimmed with feathers, and no skirt. (Many people were dismayed by the increasing emphasis on theatrical costuming and displays of pulchritude, rather than athleticism.) As a result, ladies were required to wear skirts and pants "covering the hips and posterior" until this rule was repealed in 2004, allowing women to wear tights, trousers, or unitards in addition to skirts. Men are required to wear trousers and not tights. Clothing is also supposed to be free from "excessive decoration", such as feathers that can come loose and create a safety hazard on the ice.

Si Machiko Yamada (she calls her Yamada Coach). Hindi pa orange ang buhok.
    • Her triple axel. Parang ang ganda naman nung take-off at rotation! Taas tumalon! Pero sablay lang landing.
    • Triple toe-loop Triple toe-loop May gumagawa pa ba nito?
    • Taas naman ng score!
    • Ganda ng mga hairstyles. Spraynet galore!

    Question:
Sumobrang bagal at parang may gap talaga yung music.

    Winner ang sponsors ha!

    One of my Mirai-chan favorites

    Skate Canada 2009 SP

    • Iba yung starting position at slightly iba yung choreography.
    • I think she's the most flexible of all. Mirai's Biellman spin FTW!
    • I really like the music.

She lacks the height (jump) lang. Mahihirapan siguro ito matuto mag-Triple Axel?

Kinorrect pa ako ni Mirai mismo (via twitter) kasi akala ko "Davy Jones, Jack Sparrow & He's A Pirate" remix lang yung SP niya.
"fragile dream by Joe hisiashi and he's a pirate by David Garrett" daw.

Yung parang Fan position.. Like this:

Yup. he turned pro after winning gold in Sarajevo.

    Like what kind of jump?
Re: Janet Lynn: That's according to D.ick (getting bleeped) Button. But reading her wiki she landed a Triple Salchow enroute to winning Junior Nationals in 1966. She competed in her first Olympics in 1968 in Grenoble, France. Janet Lynn is a combination of Peggy Flemming's artistry and Dorothy Hamill's athleticism. Both Flemming and Hamill were coached by the late Carlo Fassi. Fassi's widow Christa now coaches Carolina Kostner.

Pero, paano yun? In terms of skills and performances...
this is subjective, but not really. pro skaters are usually show skaters. their skills are the same but they can afford to slack off as they no longer compete competitively.

    Wow, kanya-kanyang iniiwasan.
Ang cool lang if Mao will be able to master Triple Lutz and Triple Salchow nga.
That's beauty of skaters like Michelle Kwan, Sasha Cohen, Tara Lipinski, Shizuka Arakawa. They have a complete jump arsenal for ladies except the triple axel (they do the double axel though).

Katarina Witt as Carmen her long program during 1987-88 season.

FYI, the first female skater to land a triple jump was Petra Burka at the 1962 Canadian Championships. She landed a triple salchow.

thanks. makes me sound like a figure skating geek and i don't even practice the sport. LOL!

in terms of fashion, no one can beat michelle kwan. prior to vera wang, marc bouwer designed her skating outfit for her long program at the 1998 Nationals, Olympics, Worlds, Goodwill Games.

eeggee: i'll post some kwan videos when i get home. some skaters are still doing the triple toe-triple toe. Ksenia Makarova and Laura Lepisto to name some. its the easiest of the triple-triples.
