to meiji...if haven't been in puerto galera by the time u read this msg, here are some advice and info. ride a bus going to batangas pier at the bus station in front of alimall. the fare costs around P120. i suggest that u leave early in the am so that u'll arrive at puerto galera by lunch time. at d pier, u'll find various "shipping lines". if ur afraid of the waves (it'll get a little rough when ur at the agusan part of the sea), ride a fastcraft. but these fastcrafts dock at puerto galera pier and town proper. there are also other big bangkas that go directly to white beach, sabang, big la laguna, small la laguna, etc. the fare costs P140 for both types of boat. at puerto galera pier, u can take e jeepney ride (which costs P10-20) to white beach, tamaraw beach, and talipanan beach. there's a jeepney terminal 50 meters from the docking station. jeeps leave every 15-20 mins., just tell the driver where u will get off. u may want to check out the church, the museum, and of course the palengke to buy some food and stuff. last year, we stayed 1 night at big la laguna but the water is very near the cottages so we transferred to white beach. ok sa white beach. we stayed at summer connection (P500 per night yung single detached cottage), nasa dulo na sya ng beach kse maingay sa may gitna where the "nightlife" is located. pero last march (before holy week), we discovered na mas maganda, tahimik at konti ang tao sa tamaraw beach. actually, pwede mong lakarin from white beach. u just have to cross many big rocks sa dulo ng white beach (sa may summer connection). we stayed at aninuan beach resort (P600 per night at single detached cottage din). food in white beach and tamaraw beach costs P80 per meal. medyo mahal kse they cater to foreigners. pero since mas maraming resorts sa white beach, may mas murang mga resto dun. i suggest that u bring canned goods. pauwi naman, there's a boat terminal at white beach going to batangas pier. pero big bangkas lang coz yung mga fastcrafts nsa puerto galera pier lahat. sorry kung mahaba msg ko. i hope i was able to give u a comprehensive and useful info about puerto galera.

Post Puerto Galera: Tips for First-Timers?

My friends and I are planning to go to Puerto Galera this Holy Week. Problem is none of us has ever been there before. Any tips/advice on getting hotel accommodation, transpo (we plan to commute since I heard we have to take the ferry anyway), et cetera?

    Question Puerto Galera

I tried searching the site but it seems, the search option is temporarily suspended for indexing..

anyways, my friends and i are planning to go to puerto galera this weekend.. pero, commute lang.

any info on how to get there? sabi kse samin, take a bus to batangas, then from there a ferry to puerto galera..

what are nicest places to stay in puerto galera and of course, how much will it cost.

im afraid we really dont have any idea, so any information, no matter how trivial, is really welcome..

    my utmost appreciation!

yep you need to take a bus to batangas (BLTB), then from there sakay kayo ng ferry diretso na sa puerto galera. since you're going on a long holiday, i'm sure maraming magpupunta, baka mahirapan kayo magpareserve ng place. kugn di naman kayo magpapareserve, make sure you go to the pier early, tipong madaling araw, kasi pati sa tickets agawan yan. from the pier, go to white beach. there are jeepeneys from the puerto galera pier that will take you to white beach na mismo. marami don nagpaparent. in our case, we got a place from muelle pier. it's coco resort ata. 500 lang overnight tapos its a jeep away from white beach. yung jeep terminal andon na rin mismo. so okay na rin. hindi pa kami nahirapan umuwi kasi andon na rin mismo yung mga ferry back to manila

take a bus(Tritran or Jam Terminal - near Gil Puyat LRT station) to batangas city pier. then from there, take a ferry to puerto galera.

i've been to coco beach and white beach mid last year.
coco beach is the best. budget for 2 days and 1 night stay would be from $28 to $58( food and transpo not included) per person

if your budget is a little bit tight, i would recommend the white beach resort(no swimming pool). i think for 2 days and 1 night stay, you would only spend around $40(food and transpo included)

    Thumbs up

purto galera, eh? naku... i'm sure you'll have fun.
punta kami don last feb ng friends ko. astig... ang ganda ng place. eto tips ko sayo:

    1. punta kayo BLTB ng maaga para iwas traffic. first trip yata to batangas is at 3 am eh.
    2. ingat kayo sa ibang tao sa pier. pag pansin nila na first time nyo, sisingilin kayo ng mahal. eto nangyari sa 'min eh... pinagbayad ba naman kami ng 150 for the jeepney ride going to the boat (eh 20 lang kami) and it only took less than 5 minutes to get there. jeez...
    3. kung dami kayo pera, go to coco beach. napakaganda ng place. kaya lang dollar rate ang ginagamit kaya super mahal.
    4. kung gusto niyo ng tipid, go to white beach. medyo mura pero nice din yung place.
    5. punta kayo don sa place na super ganda ng corals. i forgot the name of the place eh... basta, go snorkeling... ang ganda kasi talaga.

uhm... la na me maisip eh. hope nakatulong ako...

Dollars ba talaga bayaran sa mga resorts doon?

You can pay the peso equivalent.

It's easy naman to go to Puerto. I suggest you take the ferry M/v Brian which leaves Batangas port at 10 o 10:30 ba, I forget. It takes you directly to White Beach. Yung isa sa Blue Diamond will just take you to PG pier. Sabagay ok din yon because that's where we buy our softdrinks and water. Aba mahirap din mag buhat ng mabigat. Just take the jeep. Ibaba ka naman nila don.

We usually dont bring food na para makatipid. Kasi hindi **** ganoon ka expensive. Reasonable naman. Actually even coke in cans is reasonably priced. I just drink a lot of it kaya mapapamahal. The place where I usually stay in puedeng magpalagay sa ref. Ewan ko kung kami lang yon kasi kilala na kami. But I'm sure charm will get you a long way.

The place to go snorkeling is Long Beach. It's a boat ride away. If you forgot to bring your gear there's some for rent. Dati 40/use. Ewan ko na lang ngayon. Ganda don eh. I suggest you bring a swim board para hindi nakakapagod.

Inggit naman ako sa inyo. Pag HW dami tao. As in people pitch tents on the beach. Pero enjoy. Ako I like PG when off season. Walang masyadong tao.

The gimik place is Sabang which is a jeepney ride away. Safe naman to go home late at noght or early morning. Just check the jeep skeds.

Makapunta nga before the summer crowd goes.

We took a car from QC to Batangas Pier and left it parked there for 4 days. I think it was 70 pesos a day or something like that to park it there. We took a ferry but please take a ferry that has an open deck area if you have major problems with motion sickness (hilo, suka). The one we took was suffocating and enclosed and felt like a swimming death casket. I think the ferry fare was 150 per person.

We got off the main port and the bankeros immediately hit you up for business. We got a good deal for 4 people to get picked up and taken to any island we wanted to visit for 4 days for 280 pesos flat rate. The bankero would meet us infront of the beach at a designated time we chose.

We wanted to stay at Sabang Beach per the Lonely Planet PInas we read (affordable daw doon) but it was a bit ghetto and dirty and full of bars. Coco Beach was too expensive because we only had a 3000 budget for 3 nights 4 days and so the bankero suggested BIG LA LAGUNA. Very nice and clean and snorkeling was good. I forgot how much it was per day there. We had the beach front bungalow with aircon and patio. I think it was 900 pesos or 950 per day for 4 people. The two of us girls slept on the bed and the owner gave us an extra mattress for the boys to sleep on for the floor. Pretty cool!

CORAL GARDEN was the ultimate strip for GREAT snorkeling. Clean sand and clean blue/green/turquoise water everywhere. BEAUTIFUL!!! Ask the bankero to take you to that strip of beach for snorkeling.

Each of us took 3000 pesos or a 60 dollar budget for these 4 days and NAGKASYA. We ate out 70 percent of the time for breakfast/lunch/dinner/drinks/merienda but there were a couple of dinners where my aunt took her mini stainless steel camping cookset she bought here in California and her mini gas burner and we cooked corned beef, rice, chicken caldereta with the ingredients we bought at the local sari sari store at Big La Laguna.

I liked Puerto Galera a whole lot cause it doesn't take long to get there from Luzon/Manila. I thought you had to go to Boracay to enjoy nice beach but that wasn't so when I visited PG. It'll do and SNORKELING is awesome there. Better beaches and scenery than Anilao Batangas. Anilao was dirty and had nasty rocky beaches...pang divers lang talaga. I've never experienced beach like tropical beach like what I experienced at PG before as a little kid in Pinas and the beach going experiences I had growing up here as an adolescent/teen in Southern California couldn't compare to an OG (original) TROPICAL BEACH experience in the motherland. Way cool!!!

I can't wait to try Boracay in the future when I have the funds $$. You know many peeps in North America would rather hit Mexico or the Carribean Islands for a TROPICAL Beach experience because it's closer and safer but it feels good to be in the Philippines especially when appreciating her landscape and natural environment. The Philippines has great weather and great natural resources. The Pinas travel experience doesn't revolve around Manila. If it did then it would really suck 'cause Manila is just all about shopping, malls, movies, bars, music and nightlife. People would totally miss out on the BEAUTIFUL SCENERY.

Have fun at Puerto Galera people.

Totoo ba na this was where the Spanish kept their Galleons way back in the days 'cause it was enclosed by mountains and coconut fields and stuff like that. Kasi parang there are little enclosures of mountains and fields and then beach. Nice hidden parking lot for galleons I guess, eh.

Oh and the rental fee for mask, fins, life vest was like 50 or 60 pesos each. The beach chairs at Big La Laguna were rented also so you could sit and lounge on it for 40 pesos for half a day or something like that.

We went to Puerto Galera 4 months ago during the Halloween/All Saints/All Souls Holiday Weekend so around October 31st to November 4 of year 2001.

    Again...have fun at PG

    Hey all,

My hubby and I are planning to going to Manila for Christmas. We've decided to go back to Boracay but I've never been to Puerto Galera and have always considered it an option. Besides if we are on crunch time I think it would be faster to go to Puerto than Boracay, right?

One question for now: do you call ahead to book a room or is it easy to find one when you get there? Oh yeah and another one: white sand ba siya? Not that I'm picky (basta lang hindi gray volcanic ash), just curious.
