what do you think performance ng sbc law school ngayon? although mataas ang passing percentage nya, parang nag decline ata ang bar top notchers..

  2. #2
i think SBC's performance is very good. in reality, we dont get much top notch college graduates as compared to UP and ateneo law. - these achievers are more likely to top.

we mostly get average students, we then build them from the ground up through the stringent and special SBC law training. that's what makes us special.

    ora et labora!

Topping the bar pertains to the individual talent and intellectual capability of the barrister and is never the best guage to know how good the law program of a given school. Barristers from Univ of Cordillera and Baste have toped the bar same goes with Philippine Lawschool(no. 6 yata) pero pagdating sa passing percentage ng schools nila di ganun kataas compared to SBC Ateneo or UP.

SBC law is a very good lawschool...one of the best ,arguably!

    ^ definitely!

i think, the passing percentage of the school is the most important of all. Yung top notchers, parang bonus na lang yun sa mga bar takers.

with regards to passing percentage, from 2005 ata up to now, its always Ateneo, then San Beda, and UP.

sa mga bar topnotchers naman, its definitely UP, followed by Ateneo, and San Beda.

In the Philippine legal context, the Top 10 Bar passers will be announced together with their Bar exam grades. These Top 10 passers usually graduated from the University of the Philippines, Ateneo Law School, and San Beda Law School. The Top 10 configuration of these three top law schools change over the years, with UP and Ateneo perennially dominating. Ateneo, however, has more topnotchers in recent years. It’s not surprising that 7 Ateneans were in the recent list.

After the Top 10 is announced, a celebratory atmosphere ensues. Like a religious feast or town fiesta, these topnotchers are paraded and serenaded. They will be the focus of interviews and news reports. They will attain unexpected fame for about a month. But after the euphoria dies down, topping the Bar Exam will always be in their arsenal of achievements. But is naming the Top 10 really that necessary? What happened to just taking it, passing it and moving on?

The problem with having a Top 10 list is that it’s almost always from the same schools: UP, Ateneo and San Beda. According to some reports, the University of the Philippines has the most number of Bar topnotchers (meaning Top #1) with 46 since 1913, followed by Ateneo with 19, and San Beda with 7. The only issues for discussion every year are: from what law school is the #1, what is the configuration of the Top 10, and are there surprises this year.

Whoa! The top 10 law schools they say. So how come they say we have the worst justice system in Asia? What are they teaching you people?!!!! To learn the law, so you'll know how to break them? Learn the law, to get rich... fast? God help the Philippines. May He protect us from you.

Graduate of bla bla bla, one of the top schools in philippines but look what they are doing?

    nakakalungkot...

I think Pres. Marcos almost got a perfet score in the bar. Pero parang na disqualify or what then umulit sya.. tama ba?

  12. #12
    From Wiki:

Marcos passed the bar examination with an almost perfect score of 98.01%, while also writing an 830-page defense. Several people contested his score and a retake was taken albeit an oral bar examination witnessed by several people. His second bar examination resulted in a 100% score, the highest grade obtained in the Philippine Bar

i have to disagree with getting rich fast... kung getting rich fast nga sa law eh bakit yung mga IT within 5 years nasa 100k na ang kita?

also, our justice system works... mabagal, I admit, pero it works... ask yourself nalang... magkano ba ang budget ng SC kumpara sa nakukuha ng Exec at Legis depts?

so don't blame the lawyers, the law schools, and what have you. don't bother blaming the elected officials PERO do try to help in educating the masses and the influence of their votes.

i believe a majority of the students enter law school with the desire for money, political connections and power. Many of my peers have no intention of serving the people and their country from the very beginning. They went to law school for the kudos and the prestige of it. With such goals in mind one can easily succumb to the temptations of corruption and greed.

A law school can only do so much to impart knowledge but it can no way mold the principles and values of its students.
