you're blaming banks as the reason why the toyota dealerships are staying alive?

i would blame it mostly on them brining sensible vehicles into the country. sila ang nauna sa large sized auvs in the country. they're also the first ones to bring the auv in with the fx wagon.

who knew practical vehicles would keep toyota to stay afloat?

Actually Isuzu is still alive thanks sa commercial/utility vehicles ganoon din ang UMC-Nissan at Mitsubishi.

FGP will introduce more new products(including the new Fiesta and new Explorer).Though the Focus badly needs to retire(BTW FGP introduced a TDCI Sedan lately).

    Ford Launches Focus In Philippines

    ‘One Ford’ Continues Business Plan
    By PINKY CONCHA COLMENARES
    July 5, 2012, 4:06pm

The all-new Focus was launched in the Philippines yesterday, July 5, making a grand entrance as the first mid-size passenger car carrying a smart package – futuristic technologies like Active Park Assist, Active City Stop and the Blind Spot Information System – plus an outstanding Duratec fuel efficient engine, and a sporty style that commands a respectable road presence.

The Focus, which will be available in September, is also the first of the eight global One Ford vehicles that will be introduced in the local market by the middle of this decade. It will be followed very soon by the iconic Mustang.

“The all-new Focus represents the strengths and benefits of our global One Ford strategy in serving our customers across the region and in the Philippines,” said Randy Krieger, president, Ford Group Philippines. “We’ve gone further in every aspect of this next-generation vehicle to give our customers quality, fuel efficiency, safety and smart technology beyond their expectations.”

The unveiling of the Focus and soon, the Mustang and six other products, reflects the aggressive plan of Ford Philippines to further grow its business in the country. Last week, Ford Group Philippines announced that it will close its plant in Laguna, but will continue to provide its Filipino customers with “great cars and trucks that feature class-leading design, safety, quality, fuel efficiency and smart technology,” Ms. Anika Salceda Wycoco, AVP Corporate Communications, said.

She said Ford Philippines will continue to invest in an aggressive expansion of its nationwide dealership network and enhancements to its world-class sales and after-sales offerings. By 2015, Ford Philippines will double its network capacity to support its product led transformation, including 12 new dealerships in 2012 and bringing its nationwide network to 35 authorized dealers.

The debut of the all-new Focus, held at the Rockwell in Makati, presented this commitment through the first-in-the-segment features that the One Ford strategy has put into the car.

“The all-new Focus is the next of eight vehicles that we will bring to ASEAN and the Philippines by mid-decade, continuing the successful, product-led transformation of our business,” said Krieger. “The all-new Ford Focus will expand our appeal to a whole new generation of consumers in our market.”

The more interesting features that will likely attract a following are the smart technologies that usually come with high-end luxury cars and SUVs. As expected because this feature also came with the Fiesta – will be the Ford SYNC which provides hands-free, voice-activated in-car connectivity. This award-winning system allows customers to connect almost any mobile phone or digital media player to their all-new Focus via Bluetooth and USB connection respectively. The driver is able to make calls or play his or her favorite music via voice commands and a steering wheel-mounted control.

But it will be the futuristic features that will complete the all-new Focus experience. Start that experience with a touch of a button, and the Active Park Assist will parallel-park easily. Sensors around the Focus will help identify a feasible spot then steer the car into the space. The driver controls the accelerator, brake and gears.

A collision-mitigation system called the Active City Stop, monitors the road ahead for stationary traffic and then brakes automatically if its sensors detect the car in front has stopped unexpectedly. There’s also the Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) that illuminates an orange light in the side where a vehicle enters a blind spot.

Another technology is the smart keyless entry which allows the driver to lock or unlock the driver’s door without taking the key out of a bag or a pocket. Sensors around the car detect the presence of the key fob and lock or unlock the door when the driver grabs the door handle. There’s also the Ford Power Start that turns on the engine simply by pushing the Ford Power Start button while holding the clutch down (or brake pedal on an automatic). There is no need to insert a key into the ignition.

The Ford Focus will be produced at Ford’s new USD 450-million, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Rayong, Thailand, which will supply the entire ASEAN region as well as other export markets. It will be available as a four-door sedan or a five-door hatchback powered by a Duratec 2.0L, Ti-VCT GDi engine, or a 1.6-liter Ti-VCT engine.

The all-new Focus will officially go on sale in dealerships nationwide in September at: P1,199,000 for the 2.0L Focus Titanium+ Sedan and the 2.0L Focus Sport+ Hatchback; P989,000 for the 1.6L Focus Trend Hatchback and Sedan; P929,000 for the 1.6L Focus Ambiente Hatchback and Sedan and P859,000 for the 1.6L Focus Ambiente Sedan MT.

The all-new Focus features a completely new Duratec 2.0-liter Ti-VCT GDi engine that combines high-pressure gasoline direct injection (GDi) and twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT) for enhanced performance and fuel efficiency. Delivering 170PS of power and 202Nm of torque, the engine boasts almost 20 percent more power than the previous Focus 2.0-liter unit while delivering a significant improvement in fuel economy.

This 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine is mated with the latest six-speed Ford PowerShift automatic transmission. A high-efficiency dual dry-clutch design, this advanced transmission is also offered with SelectShift Automatic functionality, allowing drivers to manually control gear selection.

A second powertrain comes in the form of a Duratec 1.6-liter Ti-VCT engine that serves up 125PS of power and 159Nm of torque.
