Maricel is never full of herself. She's never self-obsessed. She seldom talks about herself and seldom you would hear her start her statements with "I or ako".

Pinanday kasi siya ng mahabang panahong pakikisalamuha sa mga beteranong artista. Lumaki siya sa piling nina Dolphy at Nida Blanca. Nakatrabaho niya sa maraming pagkakataon si Charito Solis at Nova Villa.

Aside from Ms. Solis and Ms. Villa, Maricel has worked with other respectable actors like Gloria Romero, Susan Roces, Anita Linda, Celia Rodriguez, among others.

She's been fortunate to have worked with these luminaries who were epitome of professionalism and higher sense of craftsmanship. Mga tunay na alagad ng sining.

No wonder Maricel turned out to be one of the finest thespians in the industry generations after generations.

And quite admirably, all these actresses and even veteran actors like the late Eddie Rodriguez and Eddie Garcia, have only good words for her.

She reciprocates their admiration for her with equal respect and she always gives them the highest regards they deserve despite her stellar position, or her superstardom.

HINDI KASI NAGING MAYABANG SI MARICEL KAHIT KAILAN. Hindi siya nanapak ng kahit na sino para maabot lang ang katanyagan.

Her sheer talents and determination undeniably put her where she is: THE UNDISPUTED, UNDENIABLE DIAMOND STAR OF THE PHILIPPINE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY.

And she's not just a STAR, she's an ACTRESS.

And the most important thing about the whole thing: NOBODY QUESTIONS THAT.

And that what separates Soriano with any other actress of her own generation and even the generations that came after that.

And the funny thing is, Maricel never talks about it.

Like you, when I analyzed how on earth did I become a Maricel fan, I could not explain it to myself fully either...

And yes like you, I don't approve of her actions all the time but I continue to admire her.

I watched all her films even the not-so-good ones and I find myself defending her, albeit secretively and in my own little way.

The only logical reason I could think of why I like her is my compatibility with her when it comes to handling family and friendship.

And I like that she's straightforward and at the same time loving.

Maybe she's always been a study in contrast and that makes her interesting for me.

She's never boring nor overpowering. And she's always been true to us. And she keeps her boundaries despite her celebrity status.

She's never a user nor rider. She bangs her own drums, so to speak. And she defends herself and always rises whenever she falls.

She's a fighter and a fierce competitor but never loses touch with her own reality.

She's been wiser with age and her maturity becomes an inspiration to us all.

Her success tames her rather than bloats her ego.

She's a fiercely loyal friend and reliable, dependable member of her own family.

BUT MOST OF ALL, SHE'S A SEASONED ACTRESS and an accomplished woman who succeeded in her craft.

What is there not to admire about her?

may nabasa akong comment galing sa nagngangalang Mr. Jose Mari Lee. Isa syang writer dati, pero he used to work for Imelda Marcos' PR Office. Eto yung sabi nya about inay:

......What really surprised me about Maricel when she was a child – was her awareness of the importance of work. Like Romnick Sarmenta, she was one of the busiest child actors of the 1970s.

Funny how every time I would go down the basement of Broadcast City (where the network's bank was) to cash in my talent fee, Maricel would be there as well, asking the teller: "Ilan ba ang tseke ko?"

When the teller would say: "Apat!"

Maricel would say in exasperation: "Ay, apat lang?"

To which, I would reply: "Mabuti ka pa, apat. Ako tatlo lang!"

Incidents like this happened many times, and while other child actors would go to the bank with their guardians, I was truly impressed by a young girl who was so responsible enough to take care of her own business dealings – alone. She was an amazing girl, being so good of an actress and being business savvy as well. This is how she truly differed from other children in showbiz that time.

While Snooky was rather shy and timid as a child (I also worked with her in a Sci-fi TV show called Infinitus), Maricel was determined and was never afraid of facing anyone. She's indeed one in a million.

BI si Marya nila Rommel Placente at Mimi sa DWIZ. Na-disappoint daw si Mimi sa idol niya na premyadong aktres nu'ng nakaraang Star Awards kasi ang dami raw mga amuyong na humaharang sa mga fans na gustong magpa-picture kasama siya, na akala mo eh meron siyang assassination threat.

Tapos, lagi raw nasa isang tabi, kasama ang best friend niyang councilor at yosi nang yosi.

Pero kahit daw ganu'n siya, love na love pa rin daw siya ni Mimi kasi wala nang ibang katulad niya at wala na siyang dapat patunayan pa.
