I've posted my experience from Dr. Mike Chua at http://www.glennong.com/2010/10/righ...t-matters.html. I've been going back monthly. So far so good.
pa-up naman neto hehe
covered ba sya ng maxicare?
tsaka ano yung mga basic na binibili sknya na products like soap, toner moisturizer? how much lahat yung package?
I already had a very good dermatologist that has a clinic at Tandang Sora QC. But because I don't have a car and traffic in Philippines is ridiculously bad I researched for a closer dermatologist. Found Dr.Mike Chua with a bunch of good reviews. When I went there for the first time I had chemical peel and facial cleaning. for 1,000pesos. To find myself having to pay 4000pesos extra for the meds. Nobody has forced me to buy these creams or whatever you have to put on your face but it is in their receipt/routine/prescription. I took a deep sigh because I had to pay 5000php because I was desperate to get my problem fixed. The facial was painful and the chemical peel is extremely painful/burns (which I understand). I finished the treatment in 10mins or less. Saw most of my problems are still there, ofcourse. I was ok with the first visit.
Second visit I had the same treatment. And at the end of the treatment found myself paying for another cream that I need to buy for dark spots. I guess it was 400pesos for a small bottle. "ok" I thought to myself. Not only it was painful again for my facial cleaning. My chemical peel was more painful. It burns like hell! He said it is normal because my face reacts differently now because its my second session.
To be honest, his facial cleaning is as much as painful as LETS FACE IT. which I also tried and quit after a couple of come backs.
After my second visit. I notice that I have black patches on my face. Which is really visible. I had to do a lot of things outside so for me having this black patches took out a lot of my confidence. I texted him about it and he said it is fine it will be gone in no time.
I tried to understand that it is the process of the treatment.
3rd visit. My black patches are still visible. He saw it and he told me it will be gone very soon, and he told me not to worry. Because I am desperate to get my problem fixed. I trusted him. This visit I paid 1000php. I still have all the products but my problem is still there. I have lots of black heads, white heads and big pimples. He told me that if this doesn't work in my second month of visit to him then I may need to take pills. Which I think will be expensive again.
Right now, my face is the same as the first time I saw Dr. Chua. Nothing really happen and I still have his creams that doesn't work for me. My face is oilier than before. He told me that it is due to the hot temperature.
I am very unsatisfied. Because I already spent so much and I don't have that much money anymore. He explained to me the causes which is genes, environment and stress. etc. But I have the same issues like before but my old derm made my problem go away. That was 2007-2008. Her facial cleaning is not painful and she will make you feel comfortable. Her hands is like a hands of an angel. I think I fell asleep a couple of times during her facial. Her medicines are half the price as Dr.Chua's.
Considering I have the same problem as before. My derm made it go away in less painful way. The only painful with my derm is that I have to travel for almost 2 hours going there and almost 2hours going back to the house. And it is also very very hot outside.(
But I will need to go back to my old derm because she made me so much happier than Dr. Chua
It is not by appointment. First come first serve basis.
I have no problem with how they want their office to work when it comes to scheduling clients or whatnot.
BUT! If you wanna see Dr,Chua your best option is to go to his clinic before they even open.
Last time I went there I waited 2hours for my less than 10mins treatment hands on from him. And when I thought it was a lesson learned.
I decided to go there as early as possible. There were 4people already while they were trying to start up the clinic. I got assisted after 2 and a half hours. It was such a waste of my time every visit. I am not exaggerating that is what happen to me exactly. When I went there earlier seeing 4people already. Dr. Chua wasn't even there yet. So we are all waiting.
So yeah I dunno how that is working out for them at the clinic. But I'm pretty sure its not working good for the patients.
Its to bad that you didnt get a satisfactory experience from dr chua. Unlike you though, my skin has greatly improved. In defense to dr chua, id like to share my pesonal experience with him.
First, the facial and peeling is cheap, considering its done personally by a dermatologist. Before he did my pricking, he warned me that its not a pleasurable experience. True, it was indeed painful, bt ive had worse. Second, the torture that is the spanish peel, which he said should be applied last to dry the zits and at the same time , the frosting that happens in the end may block his view it it were done ahead.
I dont think his meds are that cheap, but it sure worked very well with me. Whats good about dr chua is that he asks me my concerns whether im improving or not or my qualms or observations about the treatment etc. He is very vocal and receptive to questions, even to texts. He even gave me a timeline ( 2 mos, no improvement, shift meds). So far, so good though.
True, the waiting time every sat is long. mY solution? thursdays! Less patients, more quality time. Cant blame the doc for sometimes cutting time if there are tons of patients waiting in cue.
Im pretty sure as patients we know that its not cheap to go to the derma, so better be ready. As far as my experience is concerned, i was not forced to buy meds or undergo any procedure, nor was there any pressure to do so.
Agree 100 %! Security blanket ko si doc mike. Kung may concern ako sa balat ko, text ko lang sumasagot na. Sobrang ok nung ganun may communication. Di kaya lost in communication lang , ito Macy monday? But, Kung di na hiyang, lipat na nga lang

As for me, Doc Mike is still highly recommended![]()
Awwwww...really too bad
If my memory serves me right, parang 2 months ang adjustment period na sinabi ni doc mike na pwede maglabasan ang pimples, then after that if wala pa improvement, iibahin na ang treatment. Besides everytime we do the pricking nagtatanong talaga sya kung ano sa palagay ko may improvement na ba, wag ka mahya be honest etc. I like the openness na wala sa ibang derma...hmmm sometimes maski madali lang ang pricking when i check my face tanggal naman na ang mga blackheads and pimples. So di ba mas ok yun, fast and efficient?
PInsan ko po si dok mike hehehe :P
@green_archer, Magkano IPL kay Doc Chua? Thanks!
4 thou per session or 15 thou for 6 sessions daw
Hello everyone, same as you, i have the same problems with my face.. I would recommend beverly ong of vsrc, though her clinic (vsrc) charge more than the normal charge of other clinics. I've been with her for almost a year now and so far my face had a lot of improvement. No more pimples, less oily and less visible scars. Currently, we're working on my big pores and scars..
After 2 sessions of spanish peel di pa ganun apparent yung improvement pero mas effective kaysa diamond peel.
