During my birthday, me and my siblings chose to join the campaign of Gordon-Bayani in Navotas. That was our first time to join a political campaign and was definitely not planned. Originally, we planned togo out, mamasyal, kumain kung saan, manood ng sine (which we actually still did after hours of campaigning on foot ). Our shared vision for the country ignited by Gordon’s call for change however led us to a rather excited agreement to join the campaign that day when my younger sis found an invitation posted in the Gordon fb page.

A few hours later, all 3 of us left my boarding house wearing red shirts, ready for the campaign. At the assembly place, we met 7 other volunteers. We learned during the introductions how most of them started as early as March or April, taking care of their own transportation and merienda expenses as active volunteers in the campaigns. Doc Nelson, also one of the faithful volunteers, even told us, “Naubos na yung red shirt ko kaya di ako naka-red today,” since he was wearing a striped blue shirt at that time. We also learned na kung may pa-merienda man, sagot yun ng isa sa mga volunteers. That day, we had free pa-canton and mineral water c/o Ate Loi.

Also, unlike the other candidate’s assembly area (probably just 30 m away from us), we only had one car available (Kuya Gerry’s, another volunteer) so half of us had to take a taxi to Monumento. The taxi fare was paid for by Coli, another faithful volunteer and a student like us. She refused our offer to contribute to the taxi fare, siya na daw muna ang bahala. At Monumento, we met a few more volunteers and there we were given the campaign materials — stickers, pamphlets, banners, etc. which we were instructed to give out while riding on a rented jeepney (naka-jeep kami sa first 15 minutes then on foot na thereafter). Through the jeepney’s narrow window, kanya-kanyang puwesto kami. I remember posing for the camera a lot with a thumbs-up. Yun daw pala ang sign ni Gordon. And so while passing the busy streets to Navotas riding the jeepney, nasabak kami sa pangangampanya. We were calling out to the people by the streets, “Gordon-Bayani po for 2010!”, sabay abot ng campaign pamphlets, stickers, at pamaypay sa isang kamay, at thumbs up sign naman sa kabila habang tumatakbo ang jip. It felt so good doing it. There are even those who would chase the jeep, kasi gustong makakuha nung mga stickers at pamphlets.

After a few minutes, we had to stop, hanggang dun lang daw kc yung jip. Sumakay ang apat sa amin sa isa pang kotse ng another volunteer who we only met when he tailed our mini-motorcade. Nakita niya lang daw kami along the way. He said he’s also a Gordon supporter so he offered transpo.

Nakakataba ng puso how these people, ranging from students to professionals, are led together by pure principles and support for one political candidate. As I’ve said, this was our first political campaign involvement because personally I never wanted to get involved with politics. After researching on Sen. Gordon however, something changed in me. My views on politics still isn’t changed, I’ll still try my best to stay away from politics. However, volunteering for his campaign was definitely worth it. Mas lalong tumindi ang passion ko to support and endorse him. I now find myself staying up late and spending hours facing my computer not checking my fb account and watching youtube para lang malibang. I stay up late in front of my computer researching about every presidential candidate, their backgrounds, track records, platforms, etc. being careful not to miss any article, video, news, with facts and point of views from different sides. Everything I find out I immediately post in my fb wall and share to my friends.

Hell, yes, I’m a Gordon video/articles spammer. I flood my friends’ pages with these infos cause I believe I’m doing my share of volunteerism. Because I volunteer and believe in the vision of the right man that inspired many of us to act through his examples. And I do these because through Gordon’s vision I now dream for a better Philippines. But now, I remember. Kaya kaisa ng paninindigang nakita ko sa mga nakasamang volunteers, Gordon, the man they call ****, is Definitely My President.

yup. i get asked if i'm from olongapo, or from marikina, or gordon's staff. once i got asked if i was gordon's campaign manager. but it's with pride that i declare that gordon doesn't even know i exist, and that i campaign for him because i believe in and support his cause.

Kung for personal use, baka makalusot. But the PPCRV volunteers are vigilant and some of them would prevent you from entering the polling place. The presence of campaign and propaganda materials in the polling center is in the list of prohibitions. However, kung makalusot po kayo sa gate ng polling place, you would have to face pa rin po the pollwatchers... they may even plead with the chairman of the Board of Election Inspectors and ask you to leave the polling place.

If ever you plan on wearing Gordon-Bayani shirts, bring an extra "nonpartisan" shirt na rin just to be sure.

nakakatuwa volunteer experience mo. ako rin in a way, volunteers for gordon-bayani. whenever im free from work i go out and reach out for people to vote for gordon. i get my campaign materials from other volunteers themselves and nagpunta na rin ako sa HQ sa manila to get more.

one night i texted one of the volunteers who updates me in gordon campaign activities in our province to get more campaign materials and in an hour may dumating na mag-asawa and handed over to me stickers, posters, fans and a few ballers. mukha silang pagod na pagod na. we sa house invited them for a drink but they declined kasi may dadaanan pa daw sila na meeting for the next day's activities. ayun naawa ako sa kanila kaya sabi ko na lang thank you and God bless. Ang sagot nila sa kin: sige brother God bless our nation, let's pray for Gordon to win.

there is something about gordon that makes you want to do something for your country. something about him makes you realize that you care. you begin to believe that there is hope, and that things can and will get done.

I got this from the Wikipedia page of Bagumbayan-VNP, Gordon's political party:

The Bagumbayan Movement composed of more than 30,000 volunteers was officially launched on April 27, 2009 at the historic Manila Hotel on the occasion of the 488th anniversary of the Battle of Mactan, the nation's first victory against the colonial invaders.

About 2,000 delegates flocked to the movement's grand launching and national convention that raised P17 Million through individual contributions and which was graced by Senator Richard Gordon, the keynote speaker. The senator was joined by other guest speakers, to wit: world flyweight champion Nonito Donaire Jr., CNN Hero nominee Efren Penaflorida, Journey band lead vocalist Arnel Pineda, and Chikka.com founder Dennis Mendiola.

MANILA, Philippines - Action star Robin Padilla is rooting for Bagumbayan's Richard Gordon for president and Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino/PDP-Laban's Jejomar "Jojo" Binay for vice-president.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Padilla, who used to be known as the Bad Boy of Philippine Cinema, made a last-minute endorsement of a mixed tandem.

"Hindi pa tayo nabibigyan ng absolute pardon. Wala pa tayong civil right [para bumoto]. Opinion ko, gusto ko, si Gordon and Binay ako," Padilla said.

Padilla served time after he was found guilty for illegal possession of firearms.

He is currently shooting his first film with Toni Gonzaga under Star Cinema.

In an unrelated development, a conservative political party has asked a local court to stop all commercials and advertisements of Padilla promoting condoms.

Ang Kapatiran senatorial candidate Atty. Jo Imbong filed on Friday at the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office an injunction case against the condom ads of DKT company featuring Robin Padilla.

Imbong, together with Atty. James Imbong, asked the Court to stop the proliferation of condom ads on television, radio, web and billboards featuring Padilla as the endorser.

The complaint filed by the two lawyers stated that the ads promoting condoms and condom use to all audiences, regardless of age, insults the sacredness of sexuality, the sanctity of marriage, and ultimately imperils the institution of the family.

Even if reports say Gordon and Bayani can’t possibly win, you should still vote for them. It’s not a waste to vote for a candidate you truly believe can give our country new life and hope. A vote is only wasted if it is given to someone who doesn’t deserve it at all.
