Why are Filipinos obsessed with malls?

I must admit I like going to malls, especially after work.

Wow, you were already happy with your ignorance until your trainer totally messed with your brain.

there is nothing to do but go to Malls. Saan ka naman pupunta diba, quaipo? Fort santiago? hahaha.

It's the airconditioning and the urge to spend. Subukan mong walang aircon ang mall, more than half of the crowd--and your trainer's (what does he train you in?) perceived "obsession" of malls--would be gone.

omit the tropical and put poor with decaying culture.

That already says a lot of sadness.

Having "malling" as part of our culture is pathetic but nevertheless ours over the course of years.

May we say the same about those who pay extra bill for heating?
In our sticky climate, strolling in the mall for relaxation and for the comfort of free AC is quite practical. Yes, not being able to travel for winter fun to avoid unwelcome perspiration may look pathetic to you, but obviously that is what the majority of our local economies can readily afford today.

Sa loob-loob ko isip ko she's half right but half wrong. Siguro most of the people who hang out at malls are there for the free A/C, to window shop and eat. Mga shops themselves were empty but the food court/restos puno.

Kill two birds with one stone. People will actually be able to see them and hindi sila mabubulok sa init. Many publicly funded museums are too poor to provide A/C to preserve our history. Sad.

napagusapan na rin namin yan nuon... pero majority Asians ang mahilig sa malls... not only Filipinos.....

    Europeans naman mostly parks....

kaso sa init at maulan lagi sa Pinas sino pa ba mag park? dagdag mo pa yung mga nanghihingi ng pera, pagkain at ano pa na lumalapit sa iyo...

I'm not dogging the AC. I am dogging the general mall culture that is currently wrapping our minds.

^^ yes, mall culture is really a fake, prepackaged culture.

Malls are completely 'jologs' in my mind - on the same level as a sari-sari store. That is why I will always treat it as such.

    Because of the air-condition.

    Because of the ambiance.

Because it's a nice place to relax.

kung ang pamamasyal ba sa park or zoo eh hindi tatagaktak ang pawis mo, bakit hindi. beach? sure, last time i visit a beach cost me 10k, last time i visit a mall cost me 1k.

and A/C is a big deal for most pinoy, put an AC in manila zoo at dudumugin yan ng tao. if we are on a colder climate then maybe things would be different.
