    About this Fronter,

To the followers of this thread, please be warned that whichever thread this sad creature visits, he/she submits dumb posts the sole aim of which is to malign the school that appears in his/her avatar.

    Sick creature indeed.

He/She is actually from FEU (no offense to the said institution).

    He/She is Zodiac/Uendinggrace/Blukami/Gaksensei/Fronter

Hey guys, I'm just wondering, is there anyone who can give some info or suggestions about student dormitories or boarding houses in Puerto Princesa, preferably within the vicinity of PSU? I'm from Manila and will be transferring to PSU...

Would very much appreciate info on dorms/boarding houses for students. Thanks!

  7. #87
There are no on-campus dorms, but there are a lot of boarding houses/dorms outside. Tipong paglabas mo ng gate, isang cluster ng boarding houses/dorms yung makikita mo. Not sure about the quality, though.

Tiniguiban (esp the highway area) has a good share of good houses too.

I guess we write the same way . Thanks for starting this thread btw.

I'm from La Salle Dasmariñas in Cavite, was previously enrolled there under the Civil Eng'g program. Bale tinapos ko lang yung general eng'g and minor subjects ko and now planning to pursue Pet Eng'g third year subjects/courses and beyond at PSU provided that the courses I took at La Salle get credited... hopefully. @_@

Ah, buti naman nakapasok si koryo. I have yet to enroll, ang sabi kasi sa akin nung sa OSA sa June 11 pa daw yung enrollment para sa transferees kaya ayun, still have to wait. I'll be in Puerto most probably this coming Monday or Tuesday para maasikaso na din yung dapat ibang asikasuhin sa PSU.

What year level are you btw, if I may ask?

I have friends in DLSU-D.

Kung transferee ka, most probably kami kami makakasama mo, Block T (as in Block Transferees) hehe.

Welcome to PSU's flagship course, Petroleum Engineering!

Thanks! Last year ko pa pinapangarap na makapasok dito eh, sa wakas it's just a matter of days, matutupad na rin hehe

Yep, you were from Mapua right?

Btw I'm just wondering tunkol sa pag-credit ng subjects... Mahigpit ba sila sa PSU when it comes to crediting subjects?

    Salamat.

Actually, Aeronautical Engineering ang second choice ko if ever I get kicked out sa Petroleum Engineering program. Gustong gusto ko ang aviation industry and that's where my passion belongs to.

Sang school ka, anong batch sa Mapua and anong course mo ngayon?

Yung Petroleum Engineering, wala pang board exam. Sabi nila, dapat makapag-produce ng at least 1000 graduates ang isang program to be able to establish a board exam (hearsay). Sa ngayon wala pa ata 200 ang nakakagraduate sa Petroleum Engineering (not sure) kasi it only started way back 1995 and there are certain years na walang gumagraduate. And yes, malaki sahod sa off-shore. Ang working schedule nila, on & off. Say, 28 days - 28 days. 28 days you're working off-shore, next 28 days, you're home relaxing and the best thing about it is you get paid even if you are on vacation. very risky kasi ang working place, so kaya siguro ganun.

Kukunin ko nga ulit yung Filipino 2, Humanities and Arts, and Logic because Mapua's course description does not match PSU's. Also, if the subjects you want to be credited lack units, you will need to enroll that again.

But since we're geared towards the mentioned field, I believe someday mapepenetrate din yan, kung tatrabahuhin ng maayos.

I have attended two different seminars that were conducted by alumni of PSU Petroleum Engineering. One works in Weatherford, one in Schlumberger, and the other one worked in Qatar Petroleum and is now in UK for his Master's degree (his wife is his batch mate in PSU BSPE and is now in Australia (or Austria) for her MS degree). Of course, these people weren't hired immediately by large companies.

If I remember it right, one of the alumni that conducted the seminar had his first job in Malampaya then after 6 months, he was hired by one of those companies [that I have mentioned].

But I am hoping for even an entry level job when I go back there after graduation since mom has a vast connection with Oil and Gas people. My uncle works in Qatar Petroleum, mom's friends are in Ras Gas, and Qatar Gas, mom's Mechanical Engineer boarders are also in Oil and Gas field. These people might help me in landing a job, or at least give me tips on how to penetrate the industry.

Actually, I don't really intend to work off-shore as it is very depressing. But if opportunity would kick in several years from now, why not?

sabi nga ng mom ko, kuha muna ako ng job experience kahit sa Malampaya or PNOC when I graduate.

saang company ka ngayon sir? Just this March, 4th year BS PE students had their field trip in Batangas Field.

May isa pa akong classmate last semester sa Organic Chemistry. He's a second courser, a board passer of Mechanical Engineering board exam from University of the East and I heard he has been hired by Weatherford because of his credentials and since he has taken some 4th & 5th year Petroleum Engineering subjects such as Drilling Technology and the like, so he will no longer continue his studies. Lucky guy!
