Hi there! There's the basic course fee and that usually covers the basic equipment, the air refills, the pool fee, the instructor, reading material, and such. It used to be as low as 7K but you can ask around and it might reach up to 12K. I don't rightly know.
The next cost that you will have to include is the check-out dive which will entail going to the beach somewhere. That will usually entail an overnight at the resort so there's resort fees added to travel cost.
Finally, I'll tell you now that if you have some money kicking around in your back pocket, it's likely to convert itself instantaneously to personal mask, snorkel, flippers, regulator, and wet suit. Possibly BCD as well. Oh, and dive computer. Amazing how that happens!
Did I answer your question? No, not exactly. But I hope it helps.
P.S.: It's one of those things that you might not do for very long but what memories you pick up from the experience you'll carry for the rest of your life!
to answer your question ang sessions depende sa instructor eh, im talking about openwater diver--entry level diving. kami kasi ng friends ko and kuya ko...4 pool sessions and 2 classroom lectures lang. the rest tinuro while having snacks, while travelling to the resort...while bumming around sa resort...kinda informal, pero ok na ren.natuto naman kami.
back in 2005 I only spent 9k for the lesson inclusive of use of pool and rented dive gear. at the checkout dive I spent close to 6thousand overnight. if you are tight on budget just cover the basic gear...the wetsuit, snorkel, mask and fins. the rest...you can rent them at the resort.
to be certified sa openwater, you need to log at least 4dives. 1hr or less than 1hr each lang naman.
i saw the thread. nasa 6th or 7th page.
mukha nga syang magastos pero kung happy ka naman bakit mo titipirin sarili mo? ask your friends if they want to join you. the more the merrier!
goodluck!
ay di pala ako sure sa 4 dives. naka 6 yata ako nun with my dive instructor!! hahaha! nalimutan ko na!halatang dormant diver ako!
Depends on your instructor. I'd say spare some 20K for your lessons, etc. 15K for the lessons per se then you have to pay for the dive pass, boat, etc (from what I remember ha). I want to dive but...Oh well, in time![]()
Hi there, up ko lang yung thread.
It all depends on the instructor as well as the diving agency you want to be certified with. If you are really interested you can send me a private message for a number of my dive Instructor. I know for one that he is starting a class again after the holidays. Btw, Im a NAUI Scuba diver just recently certified.
I would just like to remind everybody that the sport/hobby is not really cheap. You need to buy a lot of essentials such as Wetsuit, Fins, Mask, Snorkel, Booties. Essentials because, especially for a small lady like me, not everything on rentals would fit me and it's also unhygienic to share specially the snorkel and mask (we kind of spit on it to defog). All others will be optional but if you invest on it early like buying your own BC (bought one kc XXS *** size ko) and Regulator (planning to buy very soon) then your next dive trip resort expense na lang ang popoblemahin mo. Pero this I tell you, no words can express how exquisite it is underwater. The feeling of being weightless surrounded by colorful and alien-like creatures under water makes it beautiful. hahahah. Hope you find the heart to explore diving.
Hi, this might be helpful for scuba diving

I'm taking my vacation this February for 2 weeks only so before going back to my work maka pag dive naman sana. Actually i'm already open water certified and the training is for my wife. She will only take the training if i will dive with her in the pool and of course sa check out.
kakayanin kaya considering the tight schedule? sa morning di kami pwede kasi marami akong aasikasuhin so sa gabi lang pwede.
Kung meron kyong ma recommend please nmn reply kyo. BTW my vacation is from 12 to 26 Feb 2010.
Thanks guys... in advance.
Hello there... Not sure about alabang or cavite area but our Course director Dencio Catienza is having an orientation this coming January 12 in Makati at 7pm. The orientation is totally free where discussions about what things you would expect, what diff equipments you need, class schedules (should you wish to continue). If you wish to pursue classes with him all class would start 7pm in the evening. you can contact him through dencio@planetdive.com.ph
^ Dont know kung matutuloy yung dive namin this Jan 23-24.
Sana magkaroon uli sa 13,14,20 or 21 Feb. Para masakama ako (kung welcome ako).
Wala ba kayong group where i can join para naman updated ako sa mga happenings. This year I am planning to go home every 3 or 4 months kaya iyon lang ang chance ko to dive.
May nabasa akong nag aaya ng EB sa isang thread, and I love to meet you guys in person (all of you i see in this thread and others) set naman natin sa February 13 to 25 (any date in between).
I'll keep you posted sa mga dives namin.
