so who's your daddy now, SBP?

this smart gilas program is a huge waste of time. we're not winning anything in 2011 and 2012 other than those minor bball tournaments like SEABA.

by 2012, most of the gilas players will quit the team and apply for the PBA.

yeah. what a waste of time indeed. at least they should have kept the powerade team also. have 2 rp teams and send them to various international competition. then decide who the best team really is. at least in one team doesnt work out, we have a ready alternative right away.

but what can we do, MVP has a lot of clout in Philippine basketball... and a lot of money too. what a way to advertise SMART!

eala was too eager and bitter to prove to the PBA that he's got what it takes to beat the PBA.

but then again, for our country's sake, i wish the Smart-Gilas will turn around these recent setbacks and continue improving so that they can bring back the basketball glory to the Philippines.

that's what the SBP gets by always portraying that they are always the victim and the PBA is the Big Bad Wolf!

Could be a blessing in disguise as well. I prefer Gilas to compete in international tournaments and friendlies. They can get more exposure there and they can get used to the international style. They don't have problems with money anyway.

this sums what i really feel about the smart gilas team, ito ang kabuan ng lagi kung pinopost sa anti_pba thread, kasi creating gilas is going back to the drawing board, drawing board na amateurs pa, meron ng powerade, get two imports plus toroman for the rebuilding, we can be champs, alam mo naman sabi ni coach yeng, nirerecommend niya sa pba board na ituloy ang program, pero naunahan na sila nila mvp (since siya na din may head ng sbp sila may karapatan), this is advertisement kaya tainted na din iyong goal in achieving the asian glory

pero kung anong anjan supportahan dapat, gaya ng gilas, because this guys are dedicated, kung pros naman iyan i will support them also

Kelangan lang is to fix the problem, hindi iyong to overhaul lahat lahat na walang katiyakan, napakatagal nun, pano kung walang return of investment

problem lang with powerade is big man, rebounding, mga exhibition international games, iyon lang kaya iyan i address with imports and a program, iyon nga lang walang unity lahat, mvp will not work with danding and vice-versa

kanya kanyang opinion iyan, let's hope na lang for the success of Gilas

gAnito lang yan, kahit saan mo ilagay may politika at crab mentality sa pinAs.. i doubt maging successful tayo sa International basketball kung ang mga leaders natin sa basketball nagpapatayan kung sino ang tama at mAli.. wala tayong consistent program like in the Arab countries..

e enjoy nyo na lang ang PBE... for entertainment purposes and not for real basketball..

  10. #10
^ pre tama ka, hindi lang naman PBE, blame the implementor first the government BAP, GAB, etc... iyon naman matagal ko na sinasabi sa ibang thread, a third world country will have a hard time dominate in sports (just like in other fields like economy, military etc..)

iba, iba talaga ang kilos ng mga Pinoy compara sa ibang bansa, alam iyan ng mga Pinoys working/living abroad, so don't expect we can dominate, it all start with us

@bugs--stop participating anymore in major international basketball tournaments unless the PBA will allow it's players to be selected to the national team. starting in 2012.

  12. #12
pero swerte talaga ang PBA. nautakan nila ang mga basketball fans. with this lopsided arrangement, they have no obligations for the NT from now till 2012.

The same story. The same ending.

Face it we're not that good in International level.

  14. #14
We have a program and some are still complaining, geesh..

  15. #15
Kailangan ng Smart Gilas team eh more international exposure.

as for chot reyes, disappointing yung early exit niya sa FIBA, but i don't blame him or the team. that was an unusually tough elim round with only 2 advancing. we should have continued with the reyes program.

sana buoin na lang nila ang pinakamalakas na TEAM na pwede, mapa-amateur man yung players or professional. just let toroman choose the players and then bahala na siya. of course this is just wishful thinking
