Nokia N920 phone tablet leaks - there's no QWERTY this time
15 October, 2009
Nokia N920 showed its fancy face for the first time. The N900 successor is rumored to be a touch-only device with a huge 4.13-inch capacitive screen, ARM Cortex A8 CPU, 32GB internal memory and Maemo 6 OS.
Well that wasn't such a surprise, since the rumors for the N920 flooded the web since the N900 announcement. While the N900 sports a hardware full QWERTY keyboard and a smaller resistive screen, the N920 should leave the keyboard and upgrade the screen to the capacitive technology allowing for multi-touch input.
Following the N900, the N920 will also come with GSM connectivity, along with HSPA capabilities. All the other connectivity stuff will be also onboard - Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth. The standard 3.5 mm audio jack is not forgotten along with the microSD card slot. The camera will remain the same as the N900 - a 5 megapixel unit.
The CPU is rumored to be the same as the one on Nokia N900 - the 600 MHz ARM Cortex A8 embedded on the OMAP3430 platform. The Maemo OS is supposed to be next sixth iteration, which is quite doubtful given the fact that ver. 5 has just been announced with N900. No matter the version however, the N920 UI is expected to implement more portrait-oriented applications and interface in contrast to the all-landscape N900.
Despite its GSM powers, the N920 remains a tablet device and will centralize around the VoIP telephony along with all the modern social networking stuff and integration.
In conclusion, we've gotta admit the Nokia N920 surely impresses and intrigues. However until everything is official, we can only speculate here. There's always the possibility that this is just the next Chinese interpretation that will try to make use of the hype that surrounds N900 - Nokia's latest tablet.
Hi!
I just bought my Nokia E71 and i would like to maximize its usage and capabilities. Would you know a good website where i can download for free softwares, applications, themes, anti-virus etc..?
Thank you!![]()
The N900 like the old N700,N800, and N810 is an internet tablet. Meron lang SIM slot yung N900. Think of it as a very small Laptop with Linux operating system. Kaya limited ang portrait orientation. Mostly landscape. On the case of the N800+ meron mga hacks para maging Portrait , but I wouldn't bother to try it (personally)
The N97 is really a phone with lots of capabilities but the N900 is a mini computer (sort of like a smaller netbook) with just added phone capabilities. Kaya MMS is still pending and portrait Applications. Wala naman kasi portrait applications ang Linux currently. I would love to see the N900 in portrait mode too (being an ex-Palm and ex-iphone user)
By the way, the N920 picture is a fake according to the Nokiaport.de site owner. He said he personally made it. But the N920 does exist.
damn di pala totoo. impressed na sana ako.
Nokia N97 embraces kinetic scrolling with firmware 20.0
27 October, 2009
Right as promised Nokia released a major firmware update for the N97 Symbian smartphone. Bringing substantial improvements to user experience and some new applications, firmware version 20.0.019 is already available for download from the company website.
Of course the main change introduced by the new firmware is the system-wide kinetic scrolling. It was already available to some of the other Nokia S60 touch-driven handsets (5530 XpressMusic in particular) but the N97 had to wait good four months to get it.
The Ovi Maps application gets updated to version 3.1, featuring 3D maps, while Nokia email, Ovi Contacts and Ovi Store are all integrated in the core system image. Nokia N97 users that update their handsets also get VoIP support and several nice performance upgrades.
Nokia N97
According to Nokia the handset should now have improved memory and battery performance as well as image and video stability.
In addition to improving the user experience, the new firmware should reassure customers (both existing and potential) that Nokia N97 shortcomings aren't forgotten by the company. With the reception of N900 so universally positive and the S60 struggling to match the competition, shifting the effort in another direction (cough!) wasn't completely unthinkable.
guys sa tingin nyo ba worth it na bilin to nokia 5530

Nokia at SE lang ang gusto ko sa lahat ng brand ng cellphones.![]()
How good is N97? Does it have the freezing and lagging issue that the other N series phones have? Planning on getting one soon...Thanks!
