a takeover seems to be the last best solution for nokia. samsung has said it has no interest to buy the company. thats bad news. now nokia has only mincrosoft as potential buyer. nokia fans should pray that microsoft buys nokia. if it does not do that, bankruptcy is the only option left.

lumia apparently is not helping the comany.

3D Maps: Nokia Was There Before Apple
    June 15, 2012

Apple made much of its new 3D map service when it unveiled iOS 6 earlier this week. But, perhaps, a troubled European company got there first.

Cult Of Mac suggests you visit maps.nokia.com now to get a taste of iOS 6 maps on your browser.

Nokia’s maps are not only powered by C3 technologies, the same company that Apple purchased back in October, but they also behave almost identically to what you’ll find in iOS 6, offering the exact same controls, except without the multi-touch support. The maps even render in the same fashion as they do on iOS.

To run these 3D maps on your own computer, all you’ll need to do is install a small, 8.4MB maps plugin. On the maps page, just roll over the “map view” menu on the right hand side of the screen, and select “Get Maps 3D.” You will be guided to a page where you can download the plugin, assuming you are using a supported browser.

It might not be a substitute for iOS 6, but you can try the maps out now rather than having to wait until after the summer when Apple’s new mobile operating system is due to be released.

Same features naman nung mataas pa ang presyo nila.

here is what an analyst says on the value of the nokia cellphone business - it has ZERO VALUE.

"We assume zero value for the device and Nokia Siemens Networks businesses," he wrote. "We see little hope for a turnaround from here even with a refined strategy."

    http://www.myfoxphoenix.com/story/18...ias-true-value

that says this analyst does not see nokia's cellphone business as viable in the future. a company taking over nokia will buy nokia for reasons other than their cellphone business.

(pureview tech)
here's an excerpt sa nabasa ko:

Nokia buys Scalado to improve imaging on Windows Phone devices

"FINNISH PHONE MAKER Nokia announced plans today to acquire imaging firm Scalado to enhance the cameras on its Lumia smartphones.

Nokia's brief press release doesn't give us much detail about what we can expect from the Scalado buyout, but certainly adds weight to the rumours that Pureview technology will be coming to Windows Phone.

"This transaction would enable us to combine our leadership in camera devices with their expertise in imaging, helping people move beyond taking pictures to capturing moments and emotions and then reliving them in many different ways."

Recently imaging firm Scalado announced a neat bit of technology called Scalado Remove (below), which lets you remove passers-by from images by simply tapping a smartphone screen. It was thought that the app would come out for Android devices, but now we're guessing that this feature will be available exclusively on Nokia's Lumia line."

Is the Nokia Lumia 800 worth it or should I get the S3? I mean its just 5K away in Globe. It's really tempting. I'm still really positive about the Lumia's performance tho.

    Is the camera good enough?

  16. #3113
nokia as a company might go bankrupt by the end of the year. no telling if you will still get support, service or warranty guarantees.

the camera is superb. tried it sa globe hub and nokia. kahit nga yung 5mp cam ng lumia 610 is maganda eh. when the it comes to imaging, nokia is the king. pati browsing hanep kahit single core lang compared sa dual core units. no lags and hangs when loading web pages. check mo sa youtube yung web browsing vs dual core phones. taob sila.

I've heard from a lot of people that the camera quality is really bad.

Thanks! Camera wise sa tingin mo?

^camera-wise, ok naman siya, I'm into photo editing. raw pictures are good. There's also a setting of an auto fix after you snap a photo. I'm just the type of person na i do alot of edits on my photos, good thing that theres Phototastic, Fantasia painter and creative studio apps in the marketplace.

Another special mention is Photosynth. I'm in love with this app. a 360 degree panaroma photo app.

IMHO, I was able to play with S3 before I purchased the Lumia, parang mas nafefeel ko *** babayaran ko sa Lumia compared sa s3 design, build and OS wise.

  23. #3119
How about yung Lumia 900? Medyo awkward yung pagiging malaki niya e. Any first hand experience? May plan ba na free yung phone na yun? Hinde pa ako nakakapag WinMO ever. Gusto ko siya itry. )

  24. #3120
^ 900 is too big for me. I would suggest na wait till thursday (manila), Microsoft will announce windows phone 8 and its features.
