The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) has a booth at the exhibition area of PICPA Annual Convention at SMX. For 2010, CIMA split the "managerial level" portion to Operational Level and Management Level.
Operational Level includes Paper E1 - Enterprise Operations, Paper P1, Performance Operations, Paper F1 - Financial Operations. CPAs are exempted from taking P1 & F1 Papers.
Management Level includes Paper E2 - Enterprise Management, P2 - Performance Management, F2 - Financial Management. CPAs are exempted from taking F2 Paper.
Strategic Level includes Paper E3 - Enterprise Strategy, P3 - Performance Strategy & F3 - Financial Strategy. CPAs need to take all Papers.
The Professional Competence Level includes Part A - Initial professional Development - Work-based Practical Experience & Part B - Case Study Examination based on pre-seen and unseen material.
E stands for Enterprise pillar subject, P stands for Performance pillar subject & F stands for Financial pillar subject.
For CPAs, CIMA waives the exemption fees worth 406 British pounds. Registration fee is 148 British pounds, Registration deadline is January 31, 2010.
Examination fee is still to be announced. Deadline is in February.
Online Review is available at cima.study.com at 50 pounds per paper. Official learning materials costs 125 Malaysian Ringgit or approximately P1,800 per paper.
The first batch of examinees from the Phils took their exam last November, they were management accountants from Shell & Chevron.
hay i hope it will push thru this time, back to review na ako for CIMA 2010!
Just had lunch with the CIMA President & their Director of Learning & Development together with the PICPA Executive Director at Italianni's Greenbelt today. There will be a promotional activity at the Hotel Intercon tonight at 730pm, see you there.
Buti hindi ka nagpunta, it's a sit-down dinner for 12 nagdagdag pa ng 3 chairs to accomodate the late-comers. Guests include the British Chamber of Commerce head, an officer from the British embassy, CHED representatives, exam takers from PASAR & Shell and CIMA officials from Malaysia and a Sri Lankan CIMA member based in the Phils.
The CIMA President introduced what CIMA is all about to the guests, it has members in 65 countries, accountants interested in the controllership-CFO career track should take this certification. In Southeast Asia, there are many members in Hongkong, Singapore & Malaysia. Sri Lanka is one of their biggest market, CIMA members in this country are very active in the accounting & finance BPO industry.
The CIMA membership is also a good passport to working in European Union countries.
I sat beside the PASAR accountant and he shared to me lots of stories of how he prepared for the exam, the different websites where one can download CIMA review materials.
Kagandahan sa CIMA, lahat ng past exams available for download sa website nila, so you have an idea of the type of questions asked. As for the hardcopy review materials, these are mostly printed by Elseview Publishing in India where printing costs are much lower. A book costs around P1,800.
Sana maka-review ako ng maayos for the May 2010 exam. 2010 CIMA Official Learning System materials will be available by 2nd half of December. If you want to see a complete set of 2009 CIMA materials, visit the PICPA library. I was able to borrow three books/papers which I returned after a week. Don't ask me what I did to the books in one week. Di ko sasabihin, kahit pilitin nyo ako.![]()
Starting 2010, CIMA Certification will have five levels: (1) Certificate level, (2) Operational level, (3) Management level, (4) Strategic level, and (5) Professional Development level.
There are five papers in the Certificate level; namely: CO1 - Fundamentals of Management Accounting, CO2 - Fundamentals of Financial Accounting; CO3 - Fundamentals of Business Mathematics, CO4 - Fundamentals of Business Economics, and CO5 - Fundamentals of Ethics, Corporate Governance & Business Law. After completion of the five papers, an examinee will be awarded the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting.
There are three pillars (subject areas) in the operational, management & strategic levels; namely: (1) Enterprise Pillar (Paper E), (2) Performance Pillar (Paper P), and (3) Financial Pillar Paper F).
At the operational level an examinee has to take Paper E1 - Enterprise Operations, Paper P1 - Performance Operations, and Paper F3 - Financial Operations. After completion of the three papers, an examinee will be awarded with the CIMA Diploma in Management Accounting.
At the management level an examinee has to take Paper E2 - Enterprise Management, Paper P2 - Performance Management, and Paper F2 - Financial Management. After completion of the three papers, an examinee will be awarded with the CIMA Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting.
At the strategic level, an examinee has to take Paper E3 - Enterprise Strategy, Paper P3 - Performance Strategy, Paper F3 - Financial Strategy.
After completion of the three papers, an examinee will then proceed to the highest level the Test of Professional Competence in Management Accounting (TOPCIMA). It has two parts - Part A is the Initial Professional Development - Work-based Practical Experience and Part B - the Case Study Examination based on pre-seen and unseen material.

When I compare CMA-Australia, CMA-USA ang CIMA-UK, gusto kong ituro ang CIMA-UK at kantahin ang "I want nobody but you!"
so sir tuloy na tyo dito next year ha, resume na ako magreview next week! buti na lang MAS ang tinuturo ko this sem and i just recently bought the CMA, CFM reviewer at ReSA so it i found it easier for me to prepare!
Sir ida i'm interested to have the CMA & CFM Reviewers.
Buti pa sa www.scribd.com maraming downloadable CIMA materials, from the Official Learning Systems (official books), Exam Practice Kits, and Revision (read: review) Notes.
Baka meron ding makuha. Am waiting for CIMA-Malaysia people to send me the official solutions to the past CIMA exams. Hope they have it in PDF or Word Format.

Actually di ka lang niya kakilala pa, kaya he is still offering to pay for it, pero marami siyang maibibigay sa iyo for free, kasama na ang MAS review notes niya.
Take it, take it...![]()
Hahaha
Actually, i was referring to the bookbound copy ng CIMA kaya dapat may payment yun...hehehe
anyway, i will just have the softcopy na rin muna and then print and bind ko na lang next time kung talagang decided na ako na pahirapan sarili ko at mag take ng CIMA heheeh
