    ABC's Modern Family

Among the four new sitcoms that ABC will premiere this season this one is receiving a lot of critical acclaim. And the trailer of the show looks very promising. I hope it will live up to the hype.

It will premiere on the U.S on September 23, 2009, Wednesday, 9pm
    Watch the trailer here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDu5s309Ouw

I was among those who were invited to watch the pilot for free by EW and ABC.

Never got to finish it but based from the first 30 minutes of the pilot, I think the "perfect family" seems to have the most exag portrayal of a "dysfunctional" societal unit. Thoughts on the bi-racial/May-December family, I found the soccer mom/wife annoying, in a good way. For the gay family, the couple looks so sweet and funny in that scene in the airplane(?, can't remember, it's been 2 months since I watched it eh).

I hope this one get to have a longer life in ABC. That network has a bad rep when it comes to comedies these days: In the Motherhood, Pushing Daisies, Hope and Faith, and indirectly, Room Mates (from ABC Family)

Sana nga..As long as the show in general is greeted warmly by viewers and critics, it won't go the way of In the Motherhood and Surviving Suburbia (Poor Bob Saget, his show got killed twice!)

I'm hoping this show will last as well as the rest of ABC's other comedies (the same goes for Fox and NBC)

ABC comedy/comedies at risk (Steady comedies with high risk of cancellation due to TPTB's effin mishandling):
Ugly Betty (Friday death slot but hopefully with a slew of guest stars and juicy stories this season, it can make it through Betty La Fea style)

ABC comedies under challenged (mga steady pero kailangan in the game pa rin):
Scrubs Season 9(?) aka Scrubs: The Next Generation
Better Off Ted (Haven't seen this one but I heard this one's good, having survived the midseason plague last spring)

ABC fresher comedies (High level risk of cancellation):
    Modern Family
    Cougar Town
    Hank
    The Middle

first off...you'll want to cringe at how awkward phil dunphy gets, trying to be "cool" with his kids (pero nagiging TH naman ang dating). affected much?

secondly..."aha" moment for me discovering how the three families in the show are connected to each other--that they're actually one big family after all (and shoot me for figuring that out a little too late).

third...sana nga, magtagal ang sitcom na 'to..."mockumentaries" like this (and earlier stuff like "the office" and "parks and rec") seem to be the trend nowadays for "no-laugh-track" sitcoms...

LOL...Many of ABC's freshman comedies fared well in the ratings, most if not all of them got double digit ratings of more than 10 million.

Got to watch the pilot again...in full.

Love it all the way, and yes the connection that all three families have with each other.

    fave scenes:
    1. Soccer scene: "How about I take YOU OUT?!!"
    2. Airplane scne
    3. Recreated scene from the Lion King
    4. High School Musical
    5. Wall painting scene

^ Actually, 2 of the ABC sitcoms pa lang nag premiere, next week pa yung HANK and THE MIDDLE. But I'm glad both shows premiered good, it premiered to 12.6 million viewers, I hope they stay consistent

Finally saw the pilot, first of all sayang nga lang, most of the jokes were shown na sa promos pero nevertheless it was still fun to watch.

The Lion King "scene" was really the highlight of the episode, I was really laughing out loud with that one. Pati na rin yung pag feel ni Phil sa dress ni Sofia

The show is very promising, hopefully maging hit

Yup, they revealed too much pero nagawa pa ring ng pilot ng maging interesting.

Since it's a "mockumentary", I guess dapat may halatang may camera crew na kinukunan sila, like this cetain scene I remember back in the Office.

Speaking of, the dad (Phil) reminds me of Michael Scott of The Office

    To start off, nifty OBB.

    LOL scenes:

    - Cool daddy Phil
    - Claire: "I've done OUR job."
    - Gloria: "How about I take you out?"
    - Wall painting inside Cameron and Mitchell's house
    - Lion King scene -->

I saw the pilot right after Glee! And sadly, you shouldn't watch it that way.

Modern Family looked boring even the Lion king scene coz of Glee's riot!

I love cool daddy phil. hehehe especially the monolouge part.

"Im sayin' I like you but my eyes are sayin' I dont like you.. "(something like that) - hilarious.

I love the guy, I think I know why her wife decided to have his kids. hehehehe just adorable.

Love the line as well between Phil his wife and the Colombian Lady.

    Phil: "love your dress."
    Colombian Lady: "Thank you, feel".
Phil: "Oh okay". he touch the dress.
Wife: smack his hand, "PHIL not FEEL"

Crap I need to add the lion king song for the introduction of the adopted vietnamese kid. I was laughing my @ss off. hahaha.

The second episode earlier in the US, I hope the writing is still sharp and the ratings stable

anyone from the US or canada out here? was watching the first few minutes of MF off the PVR last night (i recorded the ABC west coast broadcast out of their seattle affiliate), and there seemed to be an audio problem in a few sequences--you hear the background audio very well, but no audio for the dialogues...wondering if anyone watching out of either ABC or citytv (the canadian network carrying the show) experienced the same thing--especially in the east coast feed, because a friend tweeted me and said that i wasn't the only one who noticed...

anyway, will watch the full ep later (along with "cougartown")...

^ I didn't experience any audio issue last night. I'm in Northern Calif.

BTW, I thought the second episode was much better than the first.

Fantastic episode. I love that it's both funny and moving.

    - Phil is such a fun act. "Just give me the answer." "And if the old lady don't like it... Honey? That's too damn bad."

    - Loved the Jay-Gloria exchange of banters re: physical labor.

    - Cameron's reaction to the Mom who disliked Meryl Streep on Mamma Mia = hilarious! "Excuse me. Meryl Streep could play Batman, and be the right choice."

    - Mitchell stealing another baby's "intellectual property."

    - Cameron's dance.

    - Jay: "The key to being a good dad... Sometimes things work out just the way you want. Sometimes they don't. You gotta hang in there. Because when all is said and done, 90% of being a dad is just showing up."
