i will answer this based on what i used before when i am still reviewing for the CPA board exams

for auditing problems, we used auditing problems by sir petronilo santos and the one written by mam solita frias. during those times they were the good books kasi konti lang ang mga cpa reviewers

for taxation we used the book by cenido and villanueva im not sure kung meron pa itong mga books na ito

    TOA by CTV

I used this book in May 2007 examination, though I fell short in general average, I got 88++ in this particular subject. Based on this performance alone, I can not say that this book is good enough because my ratings in P1 and AP, which are complementary subjects, is not quite impressive. For TOA examination purposes, however, to hit the basic (65%) or even the average (75%), this book can stand alone, of course subject to memory and recall.

There is no substitute for reading the full text of the Standards. Understanding the subject and passing the exam are two different things.

The book is now more than 50 chapters, almost an exact replica of Financial accounting books by the same author. Better than his lecture, if you do not want to be entertained of his joke, and yes... no break time.

Full of multiple choice question, updated almost every year annotating new Standards, past RPCPA question is also included. Some CPAR pre board questions lifted from this master piece. Price is cheaper than photocopying the entire book. Illegal copy of this book is much cheaper in Recto avenue but no assurance of the content if it's the same as sold by Cunanan, Lares and CPAR Book store. Reviewee discount is available if you buy in CPAR. Free copies are also given by the generous author during his birthday.

I read one chapter every morning in my office, then practice answering the multiple choice question... again and again, in 5 months time, natapos ko lahat, 3 times ko nabalikan at nasagutan, yung iba 4 na beses pa. Here comes the examination, I have already seen almost 80% of the question, pornographic memory ika nga ni Atty D. Siguro nagkataon lang... maling isipin na ang lalabas na question ay galing lagi sa mga reviewers book but sometimes it happened.

In the scale of 10, I will rate this and give a nine star. Of course, I'm not saying this is the best out of the market, I did not try using any other TOA/FinAcctg books by any other author.

Now I'm thinking... if I can do the same amount of time in other subjects, there is no way I can not append the three letters in my name.

    Can I buy some time?

    Printing and Reading IFRS/ISA

Since http://www.iasb.org/IFRSs/IFRS.htm and http://www.ifac.org/Store/Category.t...25375397738053 released downloadable materials, reading the full text is in great help in understanding the subject. Local authors and PICPA sold books containing the Standards, but the problems is that they are using small font size.

Try this to enlarge the printed copies (you cannot edit the pdf unless you are familiar with Acrobat and do some fancy techi skills).

    1. Open Adobe Acrobat (not the Reader).
    2. Open the pdf file using the Acrobat.
    3. Under Advanced menu, select Print Production and click Crop tool or somewhere in the application, find and click the Crop tool if it is docked (it looks like a square).
    4. Doble click the document and Crop Pages will appear.
    5. Checked and Remove White Margins
    6. Select None in Pages Sizes
    7. Select All in Page Range
    8. Click the OK button
    9. Save document
    10. Print, it will give you as high as 25% zoomed, some times even higher.

okay na sa mata basahin ito... enjoy

    Cost accounting by Carter

has anyone used, seen this book?

as per browsing a copy from national bookstore mukhang ito lang book na cost accounting lang ang coverage

other cost accounting (and management) books discussed topics that are being taken in managerial accounting like iyong kay barfield, raiborn and kinney; horngren and datar; raiborn and kinney; matz, usry and macuja

nakita ko kasi sa table of contents na isa isa niyang nadiscuss ang elements ng cost accounting like how it was presented by guerero in his cost accounting 1 and 2 books as well as the CHED syllabus

im planning to use this book as a resource for my cost accounting sched next sem

    co-teachers and students any feedbacks?

Nagamit ko na siya, ok naman, pero suggest ko tingnan mo rin ang Cost Accounting by Horngren.

Sa Carter & Usry kasi may topic na ok ang discussion, meron ding so-so lang. Pero complete with instructor's resources yan.

naku sir un carter & usry ko is nineteen kopong kopong pa yta im just using these books as references

un horngren ko pala is co-authors nya sina Datar at Forster which i bought at the MIBF at 200 pesos lang, incidentally this book they authored is parang structured with the syllabus of management or managerial accounting, parang ang aspect ng cost accounting is just incorporated in these book thru discussion in some chapters

Most books kasi ng cost accounting/management and managerial accounting may overlap sa topic, kasi ang managerial accounting & cost management inseparable naman talaga in practice.

    old accounting books

Nabasa ko yung Philippine edition ng book ni Usry sa cost accounting published during the seventies ata, and I must say its a very good book. Maganda mga illustrations doon at madaling ma-visualize factory accounting in real-life.

Also, nabasa ko rin yung Auditing Theory book ni Mr. Casiņo, 1969 print ata. Very elaborate yung discussion sa internal control at substantive procedures. Its not that enjoyable to read pero may pagka-true-to-life ang illustrations din.

These books may not be the staple readings of my generation but I must say that I really appreciate having read those books.

    thats true

even the book of matz and usry provide in their preface that such books can be used in cost and management accounting citing the chapters involved
