depends on what you want to do with your tank. if low maintenance tank, the other anubias species i would suggest... like the barteri and heterophylla engler. mas malalaki at mahahaba sila sa Nana. if you want a lawn, glossostigma would be great, also dwarf hair grass to cover the area.

are the anubias not sensitive? and will i tie them up to a wood/log or i could just plant them? how about the light requirements of them? my plan for my tank is just a simple one not naman pang contest like sa youtube

    looking forward for your tank.

    thanks again ragewithin

heres pala the aquatic plants that i have used but eventually died down:

    1.) Carolina Fanwort (Cabomba Caroliniana)
    2.) Amazon Sword (Echinodorus Amazonicus)
    3.) Spiralis (Cryptocoryne Spiralis)

Nakatanim sila sa bicol sand and almost 12 hours ang lighting nila kasi from 6:00 pm up to 6:00 am.

Now from 6:00 am up to 6:00 pm in-on ko ang overhead filter namin. now i dont know kung nakakasama ba sya sa plants ko?

and i just want also to know the purpose na tri-trim/cutting half-way yung ugat ng plants? what for? hindi ba mas nakakasama yun ?

here's my current tank... until august na lang, that is. have to strip it down soon.i have three setups before, ito na lang naiwan.

not much of a masterpiece, not anymore i guess, yumabong na masyado ang pellia (kumalat na sa lawn), masyado kasing busy with work. di na rin masyadong na-trim yung dwarf hair grass. you can see my anubias nana sa background, would you believe na isang rhizome lang yan before with six leaves? i have one Cryptocoryne sa may power head sa right side, never grew well because of the current (they hate it). cobra grass naman sa likod ng anubias nana (di masyadong kita).

anubias are never sensitive. most hardy plant, i believe. yes, tali mo lang sa driftwood or bato, sa lupa pwede mo ibaon ang roots pero dapat hindi yung rhizome kundi mabubulok. light requirements... medium lamang, very low maintenance. pwede sya actually on 4-6 hours of light lamang.

I believe yung 2 and 3 ay Cryptocoryne species, don't do well with too rapidly flowing water. they are also root feeders which means more sa lupa ang kuha nila ng nutrients. bicol sand is good for them, kaya lang to propagate, minsan kailangan nila ng fertilizers sa lupa.

trimming half way sa roots works on certain plants. the idea is to force plants to grow roots asap... for survival kung baga.

my second tank, titled "Plants vs Zombies". two stages... here's one during its younger days...

...then the final stage, before i gave the whole setup away to my officemate.

ang sama ng beard algae bloom. inalis ko yung driftwood yan noon, then pinakuluan para lang mamatay yung beard algae.

kung bare bottom tank mo, pwede mo syang i-bind using rubber band (wag mahigpit), then itanim mo sa maliit na paso, anchor them down using pebbles or stones.

Just paid a visit to my local pet shop, i was advised not to buy more fish since its a small tank. I ended up with a snail instead. Sayang, i saw neon tetras pa naman and i wanted some. They were so pretty.

They have anubias but they were quite expensive. The smallest is $25 (P1000). But i think they're expsneive kasi they come with te driftwood. I shall checkout ebay. I'm sure i can find it for half the price.

how big is your tank again? if you have a 2.5 gallon, i think you can have 5 neon tetras there. it worked for me before, no stress.

an alternative fish... have a betta.

  14. #1254
@rage_within WOW awesome tanks. I am currently setting up my second tank which I will have plants as well. Kudos to your tanks!

  15. #1255
I have a 5 gal tank. The issue with the tetras was that it needed heating. Apparently, the goldfish and the tetras don't belong together.

Any advise on cleaning gravel? I feel like no matter how much i change the water, it looks murky pa din because of the crap that settles at the bottom. We have a filter pero it's not getting everything. When the fish forages in the gravel, the dirt flies everywhere.

and according to my research, it looks like java fern po yung nabili ko (yun nga lang pinagpiyestahan ng mga koi)...

    inner water flow

    canister:
i used plastic box ng stick-O hehe... first i used yung pinag lagyan ng ice cream but had a leak so i change it to this plastic box cause its harder... :P

thank you very much. after returning home this august, i'll start on a new one too... im planning an all moss setup, less(er) maintenance and requirements.

well, main fact is... goldfishes are sh|t machines. you'd better be off with a bare bottom tank.

pwede naman with gravel kaso, you need a good filtration system for that, plus frequent water changes.lakas nga lang sa effort at kuryente.

pag-manual labor naman, i could recommend this :

uupakan talaga ng koi ang halaman. those plants you have on driftwood... those are nice and affordable. dont know what it's called nga lang.

i like your DIY overhead filter (i believe it's not a canister type since it's not sealed up). since koi isda mo, i suggest to put a (white) filter wool below the black filter mat. ibe-break down ng black filter mat yung malalaking chunks ng ebak then sasalain naman ng white (mas pino) filter wool yung durog na ebak.

nice light canopy rin. tip... paint the insides white. light will reflect more light sa white paint... making it brighter.

though your pleco... will definitely eat your plants, and add more ebak kapag lumaki na yan... and mabilis silang lumaki.

  20. #1260
@xcabling haha yun nga ang una ko naisip nun nakita ko yung crab bakit luto na.

@rage, i don't mind naman cleaning. Medyo therapeutic. Anong tawag dun sa pinost mo na item?
