curious lang po... magkano ba ang dinadagdag sa konsumo sa kuryete ng isang basic aerator or overhead pump per month? dati kasi wala akong pake kasi magulang ko naman nagbabayad, e since ngayon ako na nagbabayad ng sarili kong kuryente, magkano kaya? salamat po.

pasensya na pero hindi ko kasi kabisado mga substrate. hindi ko pa rin mapicture-an. one thing for sure, hindi siya crush corals at silica sand kasi search ko sa google kung ano itsura pero hindi siya sa 2 na ito. Im not sure rin sa amazonia.

at napansin ko pa, sa gulo ng Bala naging marumi tuloy ang tank ko, kasi nadidisturb nila yung mga sediments na nagsettle sa baba.

I guess stick ako sa advice mo and salamat sa info, marami nga dapat i-consider sa hobby natin, pero very rewarding naman. my funds for my modifying my motorcycle is now diverted sa hobby natin which, in my own opinion, is way better. Stress reliever at masaya.

Yupm yan nga Zebra, buti napaalala niyo sa akin na may levels yung area of dwelling nila. Kung wala akong makuhang ibang variety ng Tetras, like Cardinal or black tetra baka magsettle na lang ako sa 40 tetras at 10 zebras para sa 10 gal tank. tapos unti-untiin ko na lang yung iba like better filtration system, plants. kapag natapos ko set up naman ako ng bago para sa ibang kind ng isda. Yung BAla shark at black ghost baka pagsamahin ko na lang sa ibang tank (tank B).

Problem ko kasi dito sa amin wala talagang ibang variety ng Tetra at yung Corydoras naman ay pahirapan makahanap.

depende sa wattage ng pump mo yun, take note of the kilowatt per hour niya, multiply mo siya sa 24h then multiply mo siya sa peso/kilowatt/24 hour para makua mo consumption sa 24 hours tapos multiply mo na lang sa30 for your monthly consumption. But one thin for sure few hundreds lang siguro yan, baka 200-300 pesos or baka less pa

Saan nakakabili ng cichlids?

yup... i got red bee shrimps, red cherry shrimps, and amano shrimps... now all-together in one planted tank.





di naman sila nag-aaway, away... yun nga lang mas aggressive sa feeding sessions ang amano because of their size against the bee and RCS. but all are very good scavengers and algae eaters. very-low maintenance na rin ang nangyari sa planted tank ko dahil i don't feed them much. shrimps eat the algae and detrious, and even feed on their own shedded exoskeletons (full of calcium which they need). i only feed them algae wafers once or twice a week. they're also good in eating left-overs ng isda, though di advisable lalo sa floaters. they seem to feed 24/7. you would always see them picking on plants for hair algae, or picking on the substrate for detrious and left-over food.

i have 17 amanos, 5 RCS, and 6 bee shrimps.

amanos are far more cheaper than the dwarf shrimps. sa price range dito sa japan, 5 bee shrimps = 10 amanos. di pa ako nakakakita ng amano shrimps dyan sa pinas, but kung meron... good for beginners sila. and masyado silang mobile kesa sa dwarfs, lalo't kapag feeding time kung marami sila tapos pag-aagawan nila ang isang algae wafer, para silang nagra-rubgy (football). they get more relaxed and mobile sa tank kung marami sila, about 5 shrimps pataas.

-yan nga po yan hehehe anyway you live in japan pala kasi po dito sa philis. kung magaalaga nga daw po ng bee shrimps kailangan pa ng cooler ng aquarium (may tawag po dito kaya lang nakalimutan ko na hehehE) yung tipong pag hinawakan yung tank eh malamig mga 3k - 5k po sya. yung cherry red shrimps po ba e kailangan din na may cooler?

Mahilig din akong mag-alaga ng aquarium/pond fishes before.
Mayroon akong red tail cat fish, shovel nose, platinum koi, silver at australian arowana, at marami pang iba noong high school ako.

lahat sila nakalagay sa 2x 100 gallons tank at isang pond sa may terrace namin. sadly nangamatay silang lahat. (naover-fed, power failure ng oxygen provider, etc.)

ngayon may alaga pa din naman ako, isang fighting fish sa isang maliit na fish bowl..hehehe

yes, pwedeng-pwede sila ipagsama. Neon and Cardinal Tetras are similar in appearance, and are often confused with each other. However there is one very easily identifiable difference. In the Cardinal Tetra the red stripe on the lower half of the body extends the full length of the fish from the eye area to the tail. In the Neon Tetra the red stripe only begins at mid-body, roughly below the dorsal fin, and extends to the tail.

Both the Cardinal and Neon Tetras are very sensitive to overall water quality, pH and hardness. For that reason they should not be introduced to a newly set up aquarium, where changes in water parameters are inherent during the break-in period. To ensure success, wait until the aquarium has been well established and the proper water chemistry is in place before investing in these attractive but sensitive fish.

well at least alam mo na ngayon kung bakit. it's a good thing to research muna kung anu-ano ang magagandang "tankmates" ng bawat isda para hindi ka mahirapan or masayangan.

that's okay for the meantime. basta when you get a chance, kahit tatlong corydoras ayos na sa 10G mo. corydoras do best kapag trio or more. they tend to be shy and hide away kapag solitary.

about your substrate, got it. ayos yan.

Saan nakakabili ng cichlids?

no, i just work here. yes, they have to be in cool water, preferably 62 - 72 degrees F. so kahit simple thermometer, mag-invest ka na. kung sakaling may budget ka, sige go with the chillers. you can get those mostly from shops na nagtitinda ng marine aquarium setups... downfall syempre yung electricity bill mo. otherwise, they can thrive naman in room temperature basta wala sila sa direct sunlight or katabi ng mainit na appliance. common fix dito e yung DIY fan na naka-angle slightly sa water surface to cool it down, especially kung may lighting ka. reply ka lang kung kelangan mo ng specs or diagram on how to make one. kung sakaling mang airconditioned naman room mo, ayos na yon.

yes, dahil yung friction sa surface ng tubig ay pwede ng ma-aerate yung tubig mo, given na naka-angat yung outflow ha, hindi yung naka-lubog din sa tubig. basta isda mo e hindi sensitive sa water current. if so, mag-aerator ka na lang with airstone na may finer porousity.

kaso hindi ba mahigop ng overhead pati yung mga fry ng guppies/livebearers?

kapag naka-guppy ka't may fry sa paligid, a sponge fliter is best.

normally i-siphon mo lang yun para luminis.

pero... regarding good filtration setup, depende yang question mo sa current setup mo. ano ang laman ng tank mo, anong isda, may live plants ba? i'm no expert on this and mostly i just echo what i have researched and applied personally. so here goes...

it doesn't mean that if your tank is crystal clear it is "clean", to tell you the truth most of the time it's not.

beneficial bacteria (BB), ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates... iikot dito yung pangangailangan ng tank, flora, and fauna mo.



fish poop, dead plants, and uneaten food breaks down into ammonia. on a properly cycled tank, you would grow BB automatically. these BBs that are living in the gravel and filter media would eat up and convert ammonia into nitrites, that would be converted by (a different tribe of) BBs again into nitrates which are then consumed by plants. nitrates are not so harmful in short term exposure to fish. this can be taken out through waterchanges or with an algae scrubber, but never be lazy and stick to the almighty water-change... fishkeeping is a 'hobby' anyway, right?

about types of filtration, we have three types or stages na rin since most of the time you would need all three on your filtration setup:

1. mechanical
2. chemical
3. biological

mechanical - ito yung primary na nag-aalis ng dumi... solid waste matters. this is where your BBs live also. mechanical filtration consists of fine screens, sponges, and filter wool.

chemical - these remove some of the impurities ng water mo. some BBs also live here to help out. chemical filtration consists of activated carbon, charcoal, etc.

biological - we need media for this for beneficial bacteria to grow and colonize. porousity is the main point here. ceramic rings, bio balls, cut up drinking straws, etc can be used. but the main stars for this are still BBs.

overhead filters, canister filters, sumps, and HOBs can have these three na magkakasama na. undergravel filters are mostly chemical and biological, and uses your substrate as the mechanical filter.
