she's on a hot 23-0 streak, if i'm not mistaken. 3 consecutive titles Australian Open, Doha, and Indian Wells

Vika's confidence is at an all-time high, and she's playing high-quality tennis.

^not to be bitter about vika but she hasn't faced serena, petra, caro and even anci this year. it's an amazing streak, mala-novak djokovic 2011 but i don't think she was tested yet. anci was able to defeat vika twice even in the midst of a bad slump and given anci's recent form, i'd really give her an advantage over vika. but still, congrats to vika for her very dominant start so far.

also, we finally have a progress report from anci herself:

As I write this I still feel a lot of frustration regarding my Indian Wells semi-final. I felt like I was playing very well and had a good chance to win it when I became injured. I know it’s part of the sport, and it’s probably the most difficult part!

It’s harder to deal with than losses really, because you feel like you didn’t get the chance to test yourself properly.

Still, there are obviously a lot of positives to take away from this tournament. I really love Indian Wells! It’s one of the tournaments where I always seem to do well and enjoy myself so much.

The tournament is so well organized. I have some friends who sometimes visit and they also love it. If I were a fan and not a player, this is the tournament I would always try to go to, along with the Australian Open.

Playing three top 10 players in a row – Wozniacki, Bartoli and Sharapova – was a lot of fun. I’ve missed that feeling of competing regularly against the top players, but I am confident I will be experiencing it again in the not too distant future. I am definitely moving in the right direction and I think I’m just about top 10 according to results this year only.

Fortunately my injury, a glute strain, doesn’t seem serious and I was told by the doctors that I should be okay for Miami next week. I’ll work hard with my physio over the next few days to do everything possible to get fit.

Assuming I stay healthy, the next few months are full of opportunities for me. I will play five events during the clay court season: I’ve decided to add Stuttgart t to my schedule, and the weekend that before I will play Fed Cup in Russia.

This is an historic moment as Serbia plays in the semi-finals for the first time. It will be a tough match but we are all very optimistic.

Ana crumbled, mentally, again.

it was in the 2nd set, with Venus leading 3-2 and serving, Ana was up 0-40 to break pt. Venus battled back and it was downhill from there. Venus just took Ana's will to fight out of her.

^she's playing fed cup next (april 21-22). serbia vs. russia. tapos stuttgart, madrid, rome and the french open. looks like she's busy preparing for the clay season too kase hindi na nya sinamahan si kulot during the masters.

first the good news: serbia is now in the finals of the fed cup!

bad news: the clay season is not starting out too well for her so far. she lost to sveta in their fed cup tie (but one against pavs) and just went out in the first round of stuttgart against mona barthel. i hope she picks it up in her upcoming tournaments. ajde!

hi tards! early exit na naman yung beauty natin. she went out in the third round to sara errani (remember, yung bitter nung 2009? ). anyway, to look on the bright side, at least it' an improvement kahit paano. first round exit kase sya last year, at least ngayon umabot ng third round. sayang lang kase si sveta pa sana yung next opponent nya (as compared to venus or aga) tapos vika got eliminated pa. anyway, here we go wimbledon! ajde!

as for ana's recent hopman cup matches: her ball toss is still wobbly but she's serving incredibly well so far. really had a gutsy opening game against schiavone. she was able to crawl back after being down 15-40 on her serve. it also happened in the middle of her match against barty but ang calm ng lola nya mag-serve. i hope that it's a sign of good things to come. maganda pa rin yung forehand ni teh, vintage ana ivanovic. really loved it when she performed well against australia. medyo kinabahan ako when tomic took out nole and then muntik pa silang mahabol during the mixed dubs. glad they're in the final. i'm already LOLing at the possible awkwardness pag umabot sa mixed dubs yung serbia - spain.
