IKAW SANA : Overview
In Ikaw Sana, Jennylyn Mercado stars as Eliza Montemayor, a music teacher whose life changes with the death of her mother. With her demise, Eliza is forced to live with her father's legitimate family, which includes her half-sister Sofia played by Pauleen Luna.
Despite being raised apart from each other, Eliza and Sofia get along quite unexpectedly, and they quickly become friends. But their blossoming friendship is cut short when they realize that sharing the same father is not the only thing they have in common. Eliza and Sofia are also in love with the same man: Michael Olivarez played by Mark Herras.
A few years back, Michael had met and fallen in love with Eliza while vacationing in the province—oblivious to the fact that Eliza and his fiancée Sofia are actually sisters. But because of the orchestrations of Don Ramon (Tony Mabesa), Michael's grandfather, the two are forcibly separated and Michael is tricked into keeping his engagement with Sofia.
But now that their worlds have crossed once more, Michael will not let go of Eliza again. Michael asks Eliza to run away with him, prompting Gener (Tirso Cruz III) to marry off her daughter to Michael. Sofia, angered by her father's decision, hatches a plot to sabotage Michael and Eliza's happy ending.
Sofia conspires with Eliza's doctor, Dave (Arthur Solinap), to make her sister believe that she has an illness similar to her mother's. An illness that wouldn't only waste her body, but her relationships with everyone she loves as well. And so Eliza decides to leave, to make it easy for everyone when she eventually dies.
But what happens when Eliza finds out that she doesn't have an illness? What happens when she discovers that she was duped by her own sister to leave the man she loves? Can Eliza return to the life, and the man she loves, that she had already left twice before?

Mark Herras and Jennylyn Mercado reprise love team in Ikaw Sana
Elyas Isabelo Salanga
Fans of Mark Herras and Jennylyn Mercado have been waiting patiently for the duo to star in another film since their love team first enchanted the public in 2006's Blue Moon. The return of the tandem seemed imminent after Jen gave birth to son Alex Jazz last August 16, 2008. But fans had to wait a while longer due to the different projects and responsibilities that the two were handling for the past couple of months.
But they did not wait in vain. On Startalk, Mark and Jen together announced what is being considered a reunion movie, Ikaw Sana, to be directed by Joel Lamangan and co-starring Pauleen Luna again.
How different would this movie from the first one they made three years ago? For starters, would the two shed the teen-oriented scenes for some daring ones in Ikaw Sana?
Jen admitted, "Sa ngayon hindi pa namin alam kasi week one pa lang, nasa at half part pa lang kami ng week two so wala pa pong masyadong..."
When asked if Mark would be "praying" for those daring scenes, he just laughed. On a more serious note, did Mark, Jen and Pauleen ever figure in a real-life love triangle?
"Wala naman nangyaring ganoon," smiled Mark. When asked if he had been involved in the Dennis Trillo-Pauleen breakup, he politely said, "Hindi po totoo 'yon. Kami naman ni Pau sobrang close kami. Hindi ko alam kung saan nanggaling yung issue na 'yan."
MARK AS ALEX JAZZ'S "DADDY." There was news that Jen was willing to have her son Alex Jazz call Mark "dad." Was this true?
"Ninong po," corrected Jen.
On Mark's part, there had also been news that he had long been wanting a baby of his own and that if he and Jen would return as lovers, he would treat the relationship as his last. Was this for real?
Mark explained, "Kasi dati sinabi ko na masarap magka-baby, pero kung talagang puwede lang, di ba? Pero wala pa sa tamang edad, e."
So when's the right time?
"Not now," smiled Mark.
Did Jen ever feel guilty about falling for someone else and not continuing the relationship with Mark? Did she ever wish that Mark had been the father of her child?
"Hindi naman dumating ang time na 'yon," said Jen, "kasi lahat naman ng nangyari sa akin, e hindi ko naman pinagsisihan dahil ang dami ko din natutunan."
When asked her reaction to Mark's statement that she would be the last woman in his life, she looked at him and asked, "Totoo ba 'yon, Mark?"
"Pag sinabing last," explained Mark, "final na 'yon. Forever."
Hearing such mature words from Mark prompted Jen to say, "Mark, maraming salamat sa lahat, dahil hanggang ngayon nandito ka pa rin para sa akin at marami na tayong pinagdaanan pero hindi mo pa rin ako iniiwan. Thank you!"
"Jen, thankful din ako, at sa lahat na nangyari before hanggang ngayon close pa rin tayo as friends," Mark expressed back. "Hindi pa rin tayo nahihirapan magtrabaho sa isa't isa. I'm happy dahil ang guwapo ng anak mo at ng takbo ng career mo ngayon."
Jen simply looked at Mark and smiled and said, "Thank you."
