Guys, just to share my disappointment over my BPI credit card declined application. I really do not understand the reason behind it. Considering that I am their preferred client, have huge deposit, have several investment products. And they even offered me a pre-approved car loan which I availed afterwards.

Moreover, the branch manager told me that she even endorsed my application. To be honest, I felt really insulted and told my relationship manager about, they will investigate the matter and at the same time follow up.

Guys, let me give you an FYI tungkol sa mga nadedecline. Banks use their own credit rating system.

Expect these factors in how they compute it:

    1. CMAP- automatic yan basta may kapangalan ka or kasama ka sa list n yan. Sorry for those delinquents and this includes phone and utilities.

    2. Address- pag madaming delinquent sa lugar mo chances are baba ang credit rating nila sayo.

    3. Profession

Govt employees, media people, politicians- chances are yours will be declined outright unless may kakilala ka sa bangkol.

Self-employed- pahirapan pag self employed kasi considered sila as high risk.

OFW- no chance at all for these people kahit anung laki ng salary. It boils down to them being high-risk as well since they are out of the country.

BPO- I'm sorry for these guys but the prev CC users from BPO ruined the reputation of this industry causing it hard to be approved. May chance pero swertihan depende sa mag-CI sa iyo at kung may kakilala ka or bank endorsement

Doctors, dentist, CPA, interior designers- if you belong to any of these and don't have any delinquent records, Auto approved ka..
Typically gold card pa ang ibibigay sa iyo.

Income- this doesn't really have too much bearing but can be negative if its too low. a good one would be 20k and above range. This also has a huge bearing on how much is your CL.

If you want sure way of getting one, get a secured card first and try to apply for a regular one after a year.

Another good way is to apply on the bank that you have the longest relationship with. For example, BDO pre approves certain clients who have been with them for more than 10 yrs, provided that the ADB of their account meets the level. Not sure how much though. It helps as well if you know the bank manager and get him to endorse your application. Malaki ang plus factor for approval.

Hope it helps to answer some of your questions.

    Hi Guys!

I just want to share this article for those who want to do some credit repair. Also, for those to realize the Value of Secured Credit Cards.

    http://www.realestatearticles4u.com/...-To-Begin.html

Hope the info helps anyone in this thread

Very low pa rin ang approval rate sa ganitong case. A person's name stays on CMAP or NFIS database for 5 yrs or even longer(katamaran/negligence s pag-update) after you have settled the account.

It would be better for him/her to get a secured card first to gain the trust of the bank. Mind you guys, even secured cards are not 100 percent approved for those in the list.

Sad to say we need to have a credit bureau.

This isn't just for easier approval but chances are the interest rates from the usual 3.5 would be cut by at least 1 percent.

    Hi,

Sa mga experts dito s credit card system s Pilipinas, how would you explain yun mga pinadalahan ng pre approved credit card n may account s isang bangko (for example an ADB of 50 to 100k), pero blacklisted n s CMAP, et al. Does it mean n system generated na lang yun card because of the banking relationship? And no background check has been made? TIA for those who can give an expert explanations how is this possible.

  14. #434
    Yes.

Pre-approved credit cards are often issued with only partial screening. Sometimes a deposit account isn't even needed. A few years ago one aggressive bank issued credit cards to all the employees in our office without bothering to check their credit. They gave cards to drivers and messengers, including someone who had resigned a few weeks earlier. They must have thought that because the company had large sums on deposit with them, the employees would somehow have the capacity to pay.

Big mistake. The default rate on those cards was probably 90% after three months.

I think the branch manager who arranged for those cards to be issued no longer works there.

    Thank KuyaDanny,

So usually this is branch initiated and they send recommendation to card department? Is that correct? Does it mean the manager generates report and for those who has good ADB they put on a list and submit for pre approved credit card? TIA

  16. #436
Sometimes it is branch-initiated, sometimes it is card department-initiated, especially if the card department is trying to meet sales targets.

By the way, you should know that the BSP prohibited banks from issuing pre-approved credit cards in 2010. The practics has not been totally eliminated, obviously, but is less widespread now than before.

Pre-approval is in the discretion of the bank. The CMAP and NFIS blacklist comes to play if its a customer-initiated application because it goes to third-party verifier who makes the recommendation for approval. In the case of pre-approval, the 3rd party is bypass and bank approves it on their discretion (i.e bank manager recommendation). Its the main reason kung bakit nagpatupad ang BSP ng circular back in 2010. They want to lessen the bad debt levels ng mga banks. In this case, the ADB level was sufficient enough for the bank to approved it without checking. This often happens on BPI as well especiallyif you are a preferred client, they disregard CMAP ad do a pre-approval.

Is this true? Pati phone? I have a delinquent account with Globe. It's not my fault. When I applied for a line, napagpalit nila with another user. Meaning yung usage niya sa phone bill ko napupunta at yung usage ko sa phone bill niya napupunta. I tried to work with them to fix this and I went to Globe Park Square several times to have this fixed. Hindi maayos ayos. Ilang beses din ako tumawag until one time, sinabi nila na wala daw records nung mga tawag ko at yung mga attempts ko to fix it. I said f*ck it and just stopped trying to fix it.

    So blacklisted ako sa CMAP?

you may call CMAP at 8129880 / 8178386 / 8182372. Ask them if your name is in their database. Nagcheck ako ng name ko before since I got a delinguent account with globe telecom, ayun nandun nga name ko... they told me to make arrangement with globe to settle, once na mag issue ang globe ng cert of full payment i can give that to CMAP para daw ma clear name ko...since am so busy, di ko pa naaayos...hope this will help you as well....
