i don't have 18 units of english... i only have 12. what do i have to do then?

uhmmm... i think my fixation with this profession started with LA Law. i would watch it with the older members of my family and though i didn't understand it, i loved the logic and the lengthy arguments involved in the courtroom process.

nakita ko na may Rizal course na requirement sa entrance
sa UP law , kailangan pa ba talaga yun?
E sa Ateneo inalis na nga nila yung Rizal course na yan?
Pakisabi naman optional na lang ang Rizal course na yan sa
    UP.

Funny, but a classmate who got into Ateneo Law said that they don't require the 18 units since he had 15 but didn't need remedial units? (Well, that was according to him.)

And Ateneo still has the Rizal course. That is, Fr. Arcilla still has a job, last I heard.

    EPONINE07> About Rizal course
Is it possible to be accepted in up law school and then just take up rizal course on my 1st yr of studies there?

Is is true na marami din daw ang nakapasok sa UP kahit
    wala silang Rizal Course?
Lastly, dapat daw may connections ka daw sa mga frat o kaya
sa UP para daw makapasok sa UP LAW

    Thanks Eponine07

Actually, the Rizal course is a CHED requirement for college (tertiary level education). I know that ADMU and UP have Rizal courses.

In Ateneo Law, Fil 14, Survey of Philippine Literature (taken in ADMU college), is considered a literature course yata, so I think that is used to fill up the remaining 3 units. Also, you're allowed to enroll in Ateneo Law even if you haven't completed 18 units, provided that you take up the lacking units before you graduate. Ateneo Law does not offer a Rizal course. And I don't think there are remedial English courses offered in the Ateneo law school.

It's not true that you can only get into UP Law if you have connections. I got in UP without connections. But then, I chose to go to the Ateneo for law.

i think that you must have finished the rizal course before you get into up law. and yes, rizal is indeed a required subject in college here.

no, you don't need to have a frat or any sort of connection. i got into up law without having joined any sorority or without having connections with any fraternity. all you need is to pass the LAE and to have good grades, as well as ace the interview.

    good luck.

No amount of technical preparation will ensure that any student of law will turn out to be a good lawyer---or a disciplined and principled one even. Having a little-more know-how than the next person because of forehand instruction will only take you so far. What's needed is the basic desire and sincerity to pursue Law by heart. With this in mind, one also needs a genuine Love for Learning, The Love of Reading and a sincere appreciation for things as profound and intellectual as the study of Law itself: Literature, Philosophy, History and Religion. Those who possess such qualities need not fret in poring over inch-thick books or jargon-laden material. He will look forward to it as a challenge, an opportunity to apply his knowledge and sharpen his wits when the day should come that he be called upon to use them. A student armed with "naked" technical skills alone may also perform well, but it is the student with the wisdom infused by having broader horizons who will have the edge later on as professionals. Moreso in a field that requires its practitioners to not only uphold the truth, but to uphold themselves in a way that would reflect the nobility of their profession.

    1. May synonymns and antonyms ba?

synonyms yata. i'm not really sure. Alpha Phi Beta has a very good reviewer/sample exam. Try to get a copy of that.

    2. Problem Solving?

    yup, math.

    3. Science?

    nope. buti na lang.

    4. Essay? bukod doon sa Assess the human rights situation
    in the Phils.

When I took the LAE (for SY 2000-2001), wala pang essay sa LAE. The essay part is taken after you pass the LAE, together with your interview. Pero I heard nga may essay na ngayon sa LAE. I think kung may essay, it will be about a novel issue of law. My essay topic was whether or not illegitimate children should have same rights as legitimate children.

ako, I studied the GMAT reviewer, yung logic part. You can also take Logic as an elective. You will need to take Logic in Ateneo Law, but if you have taken it in the undergrad, you can credit it. So that's shooting two birds with the proverbial one stone.

try using the princeton LSAT reviewer. it's a bit difficult than the LAE, but it helps you deal with time pressure.
