This is probably the most important. It's tough to survive law school without common sense. A lot of recit and even exam questions (during my time) can be answered if you have common sense.3 lang ang "para sa akin" ang element para maka survive sa law:
Not necessarily true. I consider myself as tamad magbasa in a sense that most of my classmates during my law school days would read 6-8 hours a day. I dont. The maximum for me would be 4 hours. However, I make sure that I make the most out of those hours. I always believed in the saying that it's quality over quantity. When I come in for recits or exams, I say to myself, "I don't know a lot, but if you ask me something which I know, eh paikot-ikutin mo man ako, masasagot ko yan."2.
Plus a lot of law student claim to go to the library at 8am in the morning and leave at 8pm at night. Madami sa mga ganun nakikipag-chismisan lang. Like I said, whenever I read, I make the most out of it. No chismis, no cellphone, no tv, no pc.
I agree in toto.3.
English is our mode of communication in law school. If you have a good grasp of the English language and can convey your thoughts easily and in a logical manner, you have a huge advantage!
Yes, make sure you don't have any backlogs. Your backlogs will haunt you come finalsTips naman pag nasa LS ka na:
Your honor, I respectfully disagree.2.
I always come to school even if I havent read all of the assigned readings. My philosophy is, the probability of me being called for recit isnt that high. I mean if we're 30 in a class, my chances of being called for a recit is 3%.
During my time, whenever a person is absent and he is called for a recit, most profs will give him double 65. So I figured that if that's the case, I might as well risk it. I'll come to class even if I'm not prepared, and if ever I get called and I don't know the answer, at least I would be able to defend the grade that my profs gonna give me. At least I get to participate. At least it's not ex parte I mean, I may not know the exact answer, but I might be able to make-up an answer which would merit a grade higher than 65
I don't really care if a prof calls me "bobo", "tonto" or whatever. I'm used to it. Hahaha! Besides, I'm sure it's not personal. He's just upset that I did not study the lesson.
But then again, that's just me
Again, I respectfully disagree.3.
I don't believe in memorization. I always tell freshmen to know the provisions by heart. Meaning, they should understand it and not just memorize it verbatim.
To this day, the only relevant provisions that I know verbatim are Arts. 1156 and 1157 of the Civil Code. Other than those 2, all the rest, I just know them by heart
I agree 100%! Digest your own cases! It's not as tough as it sounds once u get the hang of it. But it will really be a big help not only during exams but during the bar review.4.
In my case, I mastered the art of doing short digests which helped me a lot.
Yup! Don't be intimidated. Just because your classmate is the son of a Congressman or a Justice, you're all equal when you step inside the classroom.5.
Sure, some profs might favor them once in a while, but take it as a challenge to do better.
Agree 100%. Wag maging mayabang.
Yup. Think of it this way, most prof who do that pasindak effect often arent very good in practice The ones who are good rarely do that, coz they are satisfied with their profession. They just want to help law students to learn.8.
I'm not gonna name those pasindak-effect lawyers but I've seen some of them in court.
Tama! You are just like an ordinary individual na kailangan ng love na hindi kaya mabigay ng family mo.9. Mali yun!
I, again, would like to disagree. One can graduate from Law school, without the "brand". Case in point, me.10. Brand yourself if you must (if you know what I mean). You'll never regret it. It doesn't feel good to be a barbarian when you're practicing. Just my 2 pennies worth.
As regards practice, yes it'll help a little, but there are other ways to get the prospective clients. Just do good in practice and you'll have prospective clients saying that he/she was referred by Atty. so and so.
For me, it's more fulfilling that way.
Again, that's just me.
Don't forget to get some ample rest too! You need those.11. read, read, read, read, read, read ,read, read, read, read, read, read, read, read, read, and read, as if there is no tomorrow.
Yes, good luck to you and always remember that your survival in law school depends mostly on your outlook and attitude.Goodluck sayo!
