Congratulations! Great performance. The sport of MMA involves indeed, repeated, high intensity expressions of power, speed and agility which are pre set for a certain time duration. The ability of the fighter to keep going trough the bout while expressing the above mentioned attributes is called work capacity. Again kettlebells is a great tool to develop work capacity, while at the same time developing balance and agility which are also key factors of being a functional athlete whatever dicipline you adhere to.

Kettlebells are definitely a great tool if you are planning to improve on work capacity

Hi to all! I am a newbie on this site and i am also crazy to learn about kettlebell training. I am avid fan of Pavel Tsatsouline. I heard about that IKFF came to phiippines and conducted certification training.
Any update about certification training in philippines? i am OFW, work here in abu dhabi and i am planning to introduce the kettlebell training here in the place i work. I also planned to buy kettlebell in philippines since there is no available here in UAE. My problem is how to bring bring the kettlebell here. Any suggestion? Salamat!!!

Question, how heavy is a 1 pood kettlebell? thanks

  8. #48
    Hi Gireyov,

Welcome to the forum. Glad to see more kettlebell fans popping up. IKKF did not make it to the Philippines yet to conduct certifications under their banner. We do have however a level 2 certified instructor under the IKKF conducting our training sessions for the Philippine kettlebell club. As for shipping bells to your location for sure we can find a affordable way. Just drop us a private message.

    A 1 pood kettlebell is 16kilo.

Ps. Make sure to join Philippine kettlebell club on facebook for vids and updates.

I have here some bits of info that you might find useful. This is part of what could have been tackled during the training. However, we still hope to see you next time for more detailed info.

Some of the most common questions that occurs regarding kettlebell training is what weight to start of with. Fundamentally there would be a need for a basic level of required strength (which can be achieved through kettlebell assistant exercises or other functional training exercises), encompassing leg , back, core and arm strength. Once this is established we can start by performing (trying) five reps of the common kettlebell lifts. If proper performance of 5 reps in a particular exercise is not possible, then the person will have to review his/her choice of KB weight.

^that's why assessment is very important...

on another note... maybe you can consider getting a different color for 8kg kettlebells since I've encountered some special population cases that 12kg will be very very hard for them so I had to start them off with 8s and since I'm upgrading... pink isn't exactly eye-catching for males

The color will inspire them to train harder to upgrade to a more manly one hehe. Jokes aside, point well taken. Thanks for the input.

I've been thinking about changing the colors of my pro grade bells as well. Might even paint the classic bells I got from ensayo. Nice to have lots of bells around the house, cause unlike dumbells, KBs are more appealing. They make you want to lift them every single time you pass by them. I brought a couple of KBs to the office and people seem to like them a lot.

    Blake,

Gonna lend Team Sprawl some of my heavier classic KBs. I hope your fighters can use them. I'll see you in the gym.
