FYI lang, at warning. As far as I know, and based on the Ca embassy website, you are to apply for a student visa in the country of your nationality and/or residence, or else you will only be denied when you apply for a student visa in Canada. It makes sense. You are in Canada on the strength of a TRV for the purpose of being a visitor, not for being a student. So if you want to be a student, you apply in the Ca embassy located in your own country. Ang exception dito, you can study in Ca with a TRV only if the course you'll take will be 6mths or less. But if you are to extend your length of study, you will be asked to leave Ca and apply here. The embassy will still determine if you have the means.

I am going to Canada and while there I'm planning to go to the US. Is there a limit on how many times you can cross the border? I have multiple entry visa on both.
Plan ko kasi - go to the US then balik sa Canada then balik sa US then Canada na naman bago umuwi sa Pinas.
And while in Canada my friend sa Vancouver is planning to cross the border to Washington for a couple of times..
I'm worried if this will create a problem or okay lang ba to cross to the US multiple times?
Walang problema... in fact, even if single entry lang ang visas mo, puwede kang magpabalik-balik sa 2, basta within the time na pinayagan ka, upon entry, to stay. That is usually 6 months. What will happen is upon entry sa Canada, of course your passport will be stamped and upon entry sa US, you will need to pay tax ($6 something, kung di pa nagbago) and also get a stamp on your passport. .tatatakan talaga nila ang passport mo each time.
^Per my experience (maraming beses na), hindi mababago yung original 6 months pag galing ng US. Also holds true if galing ang Pinoy tourist from St. Pierre and Miquelon (kung saan man yan..hehehe).
^The same/original 6 months. The only difference is that may panibagong arrival stamp sa passport mo.
Kung US/Canada ka lang at di ka umalis ng ibang countries dahil to and fro ka lang naman ng US at Canada, ang 6mths mo ay tumatakbo kahit you leave Canada then pa-US tapos pabalik ka uli ng Canada. Halimbawa, from the US nag-Canada ka ng August 10, 2012 tapos 6mths ang allowed sayo dun, say you have till Feb 2013 sa Canada. You stayed in Canada till September 10..tapos nag-US ka uli after Canada. You stayed in US till October 10. Ergo, you can still come back to Canada before the expiration ng Feb 2013 Canadian allowed stay granted sayo ng immigration.
@gia1681
Eto halimbawa (na nangyari na).
I arrived in Seattle December 4 and among the questions the immigration officer asked me was how long was I going to stay in the US. Sabi ko few hours lang, as papunta ako ng Vancouver, BC that same day, pero in the next days/weeks, siguradong babalik ako ng US, although wala pang definite date/s and destination/s. IO checked my return flight (January 17) to Manila which was also via Seattle and he asked me why Seattle and not Vancouver. I replied that it had something to with my airline miles rewards redemption program.. only certain US cities, Seattle among them, kasi ang puwede nung promo nila (xxxx miles earned plus konting cash na payment). I was allowed to stay up to June 3. Nakalagay 'to sa form 1-94 (equivalent ng arrival card dito sa atin) that was attached to my passport. As any regular US visitor knows, this form will be detached from your passport by the airline check-in personnel upon departure from the US.
So after leaving the airport, ikot ikot muna sa Seattle and Belllingham and labas na ng US. At the US immigration sa BC/WA border, di tinanggal ang 1-94 sa passport ko. Pagpasok sa Canada immigration (sila ng US immigration para lang 2 tollgates na magkasunod na maraming security features), I went through the usual interview and luggage inspection. Pero mabilis lang kumpara sa airport entry. May bayad na tax (same tax na dagdag sa airfare) but di ko na maalala how much, only that di naman kamahalan. They stamped the arrival date on my passport and "permitted to stay up to June 3, ___".
Ilang minutes lang ang byahe papunta sa US border ng tinitirhan ko sa Surrey (a suburb of Vancouver) so in the next 2 weeks, nakailang pasok ako ng Washington state.
Christmas day came and I flew to Minneapolis from Vancouver. So bale, from airline check-in counter and Canada immigration departure lane (tinatakan ang passport ko ng date nung araw na yun to show departure), ang next step is going through US immigration and customs... yes, right inside YVR! Tinatakan ang passport ko ng arrival but I wasn't made to fill out a new I-94 form and neither did they get the old one. Usual Q&A and baggage Xray/inspection ulit and larga. Paglabas sa Minneapolis airport, ay kagulat, parang domestic flight lang.. tuloy-tuloy na palabas, wala na at all customs and immigration. Pagbalik ko ng Vancouver after 2 weeks (bale January 8 na), may tatak uli ang US immigration sa passport ko of the date (departure), and Canada immigration of also the same date (arrival). I was made to fill out an arrival card (I don't remember what they call it exactly) but walang panibagong stamp regarding my "permitted to stay until _____". In the next few days, pabalik-balik na naman ako sa Washington state via land, pero no passport stamps and arrival/departure forms. Walang nagtatanggal sa passport ko of the form 1-94 which I had since arriving Dec 4.
The airline guys at the Seattle airport detached the 1-94 from my passport and back to Manila.
Btw, I hold multiple entry visas for both countries. Pero kahit single entry Canada visa holders intending to enter both US and Canada sa isang byahe lang will be allowed to return to Canada basta within the period originally allowed to stay, ie up to June 3 in my case.
Clarify ko lang 'to. I don't know if puwede magpabalik-balik sa US coming from Canada if single entry lang ang US visa. But sure ako, as I already discussed in my other posts on this thread, na puwede the reverse, i.e. single entry Canada visa holder na papasok ulit from the US within the period originally allowed to stay in Canada.
Sorry i know this is out of topic. I would like to know where can we get Cheap plane fare? Mnl-yvr?
What agency? What airlines?
Thank u very much!
Last time kasi i went to Canada walang tatak kung untl when pwde magstay. So automatically 6 months yun? If i ever i want to stay more than 6 months, i'll have to apply for a visa extension, right? Madali lang ba yun?
^Yes, presumably 6 months yun. Yung mga alam kong dumaan sa extension, what they do is on the 5th month, file na sila ng request. The approval is released usually after 3 months (or 2 months after lapse of allowed stay).
