It's hard to answer that. Siguro ang consul lang ang makakasagot nyan. It's not like applying for an immigrant na merong chart kaya malinaw.

For sure yung pera mo sa bangko is not only good enough for your travel expenses (airfare, pocket money, etc.) but more than that. Your money in the bank also shows that you have a good and stable life in Pnas and you won't go TNT or look for a job in Canada.

I'm not sure if you could follow up an application for a tourist visa since the processing time is technically short or whether they entertain follow-ups for tourist visa.

The trunkline for Can Embassy in Manila is 857-9000 as per their website. You could talk to the operator and he might just redirect your call.

If you have a pending application for permanent residence, then you already have a record in CIC. Whether you declare it or not, they would know. Therefore, it's better to declare it because if they found out that you have a pending application and you didn't declare it, your tourist visa is done. It might also affect your application for the permanent residence (not being honest).

    1. In most cases, it is advised to apply for a single entry visa for first time applicants. Reason? You are not sure if you will be issued a visa or not. Multiple entry visa is more expensive. However, if you are very confident that you will be issued a visa, go for the multiple entry visa.

    2. Once you are denied, a document will be given to you with reasons for denial. Normally, this document is generic and it got a list of possible reasons why you are denied. The consul will check one or more reasons on the list.

You could apply anytime as long as the "reason" why you were denied is rectified. You could even go back to the embassy the following day if you want but you have to pay again.

    3. Normally, it is advised to put only a month or two for a vacation. If you put something longer, then the consul will be more skeptical why you are eyeing for a longer stay. In most cases, you will be allowed to stay inside Canada for a maximum of 6 months depending on the expiration of your tourist visa. Yes, you could apply for an extension a month or two before your exit date.

    that was very helpful.. :-)

    more help please..

    1) tourist visa is usually 6mos. does the consul give a 1 or less than 6-month tourist visa?

    2) i am thinking of the "port of entry" thing too which i read i think in CIC website...it's like the officer in the port will be the one who decides how long you could stay in CA, regardless if you have 6mos tourist visa..is that accurate?

been reading your posts, sleepless 105... very helpful! hope you're getting sleep sometimes..you're a blessing..

    pagpalain pa po sana kayo!

The consul in the embassy could give you less than 6 months of visa. Everything is his discretion. Let's say, your reason for visit is to attend a two weeks of seminar in Canada. He could give a visa that is only valid for two months.

Don't get confused with the visa validity that is issued and sticked in the passport and the length of time you could stay inside Canada. They are not the same.

    Example:

    Case #1.

You are given 1 year visa in your passport. Jan 1, 2010 to Dec 31, 2010. A tourist is normally allowed to stay inside Canada for 6 months from the time he arrives in the port of entry (Canadian airport). Therefore, if you entered Canada on Feb 1, 2010 then you would need to exit by the end of July 2010.

But in some cases, the immigration in the port of entry would just give you less than 6 months of stay depending on your reason for coming to Canada. That's the answer for your second question.

    Case # 2.
You are given 6 months of visa in your passport. Jan 1, 2010 to June 30, 2010. You arrive in Canada on Feb 1, 2010. The immigration officer in the port of entry could not give you 6 months of stay because your visa is due to expire on the June 30, right? Therefore, he will put a stamp that says you would need to exit by June 30, 2010.

Someone told me that walk-ins are still allowed but I still have to confirm it.

The most common is through courier. Once your application is complete. Canadian embassy got accredited couriers that are doing the pick-ups and drop-offs.

    Please contact the Call Centre:

    PLDT/Smart/Touchcard 1(909)101-8888
    Bayantel 1(903)101-8888
    Globe/Innove/Touchmobile 1(900)101-8888

Customer Service Representatives are available to assist you in making an appointment for the pick up of your application, Mondays to Saturdays from 8 am to 6 pm. Landline calls are charged a toll charge costing of P32.00 (pesos) per minute excluding VAT and applicable NDD charges for calls made outside Metro Manila.

    hxxp://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/philippines/visas/submit-soumettre.aspx?lang=eng

The courier will pick the documents from your place and will deliver it back to you after the processing. Normally, it would be around two weeks.

Is this through an agency? If yes, you should follow-up w/ your agency. Something is fishy. I could assure you that the embassy won't hold your papers for months if you are just applying for a tourist visa.

No I forwarded all documents and application by myself. I was told that the reason for the delay is embassy workload is extremely high this time of year because of visitor and student visa applications and staff holiday schedules. Maybe after 10 years i will be hearing from the canadian embassy in manila
