Nice win for Arellano. I pencil them to have the highest winning percentage among the 3 guest teams. If they get luckier they may even be in the position to battle for the last FF4 slot (assuming preseason favorites SBC, JRU and SSC-R get a stranglehold of the top 3 places in the standing.)

a bit of OT, but who was the guy covering the EAC-AU game opposite Butch Maniego a while ago? he looks and sounds like a newbie to me. he sucks, by the way.

Chiefs stun Knights, seize a piece of the lead

    abs-cbnNEWS.com | 07/01/2009 6:42 PM

MANILA -- The Arellano Chiefs are for real.

Showing its 90-62 rout of Emilio Aguinaldo College in the opener is no fluke, Arellano U this time stunned a fancied Letran, 81-73, to join Sebastian at the helm with an immaculate 2-0 (win-loss) slate.

And the Chiefs did that with a sleek running game, superb outside shooting and a system that made mincemeat out of the Knights’ dreaded full-court trapping defense.

“We have nothing to lose, that’s why we played with all our hearts out in this game,” said Arellano U coach Junjie Ablan, the youngest of the league’s current batch of coaches at 30 years old.

Giorgio Ciriacruz bullied his way to 17 points while Adrian Celada, Rodrigo Apostol and Jerry Miranda scattered 14, 12 and 11 points, respectively, to send the Chiefs, champions in the NCRAA and Fr. Martin Cup, off to a mighty start.

The Knights, the league’s most titled team with 16 including their last four years ago, fell to their second straight defeat to drop way down the bottom of the standings.
