    Hi Ate,

I find this hard to believe though. At yung mga naka 10 year old tinted Corolla/Nissan, holdaper ng bangko. Pero teka, sila di pinapahinto.)

I see where you're coming from. And I'm looking at this as a car driver and a motorcycle rider. Pero none of these had led even to a bruise. I can't bring myself to hate them kasi ang katwiran ko, nasa tao pa rin talaga yan.

Anyway, I think the reason cagers (car drivers) are p!ssed at motorcycle riders is not because we are not disciplined, they are p!ssed because they see us weaving in and out of traffic catching them by surprise and ruining their momentum. It also doesn't help watching motorcycle riders going through traffic while car drivers sit helplessly stuck in traffic.

I should know because I was a car driver first before I became a motorcycle rider. I even hit a motorcycle rider (Honda Wave) in Jupiter and shelled out P4,000 to settle damages on the spot. But I really can't put into words the joy of riding a motorcycle. It's the feeling of freedom, control and invicibility all at the same time. It's just like a narcotic.

And you know what type of car driver that will take to motorcycles instantly on their first try? The car driver who hates being stuck in traffic and would rather take a circuitous and longer route just to avoid being stuck in traffic. They don't like the feeling of helplessness and immobility.

And now I enjoy the best of both worlds. I can't believe how much time I've wasted driving a car to city destinations. Time wasted in traffic and looking for parking space eat up 30 minutes for every hour of driving.

Of course there is always the danger riding motorcycles but it's always a calculated risk everytime you hop on your motorcycle. It's the same danger that car drivers face when they drive side by side with buses and trucks but I don't think car drivers were ever stopped by the fear of driving alongside buses and trucks right?

Motorcycle riders in general??? Nope. They generally have the same right as car drivers. (and I still want to own one someday)

I don't mind if they lane split at times (especially when the traffic is heavy), I usually even move to the edge of my lane to allow them to pass unmolested.

What pisses me off is when they go too fast (while lane splitting), not giving other drivers reasonable time to see them. Or if they overtake too dangerously.

Retro Manila in a car from Fairview to Makati during rush hours: 1 and 1/2 to 2 hours.

Retro Manila on a retro scooter from Fairview to Makati during rush hours: 40 minutes. On a bad day, 1 hour.

And I am a responsible rider. I split lanes. Oh I love splitting lanes. But then again, I do it with care and I make sure other motorists are not gonna be bothered in any way.

I simply just stay out of way.

If you guys are pissed at motorcycle riders, maybe you should try riding a bike.

Thats one possibility why cagers hate motorcyle. But then again... I don't hate motorcycle who split lanes when I'm stuck in traffic, I hate those who split lane carelessly why I'm on the move, ito kasi yung delikado. I hate them for putting their lives in danger, kasi sabi ko nga ako din ang talo, sinu ba gagastos... If the law is not unfair(kung sino may kasalanan siya magbayad, kung wala kang kasalanan di mo sasagutin yung paospital or kung anu man), then wala ko problem sa mga nakamotor.

In a way, I was contradicting your statement. Yes, the motorcycle riders get special treatment... This is excluding the mandatory check point sa malls at sa airport.

Pero sa bike, dyan lang mismo sa Makati, may check point ang mga nakamotor as the car drivers go a passin by.

Actually sir, if you get to talk with responsible riders, they reprimand those freewheeling riders as well. A lot of groups are even pushing for stricter and more comprehensive licensing process and execution of traffic laws.

I guess the issue with this thread is putting all motorcycles in a box... the same way we have poorly stereotyped Evos and Fortuners. (Refer to one thread in BP for reference.)

    last weekend:

i was turning left on an intersection... on the opposite direction before the intersection, may tumigil na jeep, may daredevil motorcycle rider na umiwas sa jeep (nasa lane sya ng jeep originally) at medyo mabilis, and you know when motorcycles are fast when they turn like they were in the GP. eh nakain ko na 'yung isang lane (out of two) of the opposite direction as i was turning left, so i blinked my lights.

naturally, since alam kong ogag itong rider na ito, i stopped the car. binusinahan ko. as he was slowly riding past in front of my car, nakatingin pa sa akin, and tumigil pagkalagpas. i opened my window, said some words my grade 1 teacher shouldn't hear, and shouted "halika rito!"

so paalis na ako, when i noticed he was preparing to get down his ride. so i moved my car to not block the intersection, where we exchanged words. as i parked my car away 15 meters, there he is in my side mirror, walking towards me.
