also, safety? if we really are going to follow your logic then everybody is at risk at every time. if you ask me, dapat ang BUSES ang tangalin sa EDSA as these vehicles pose the biggest risk. dami nang namatay; both riders and cagers, dahil sa mga buses.
Although i really get irritated at some of them (lalo na yung mga asal skwater sa daan), MC's have provided a lot with means of private transportation. Our family drivers, messengers, office workers, etc. rely on it for their daily needs and we get a lot of work done because of that mobility. Instead of banning them from major thoroughfares such as EDSA, what should be done really is to find ways to ensure properly trained drivers are at the wheel (just as with any vehicle). It's a given fact that the MC numbers will continue to grow.

Before, i used to be a total *** to MC riders but now i always make sure i give them the proper space on the road since ako din ang talo pag nagkabangaan kami. Now, by keeping cool and just giving way, saves me on a lot of stress and possible problems although i'd still get very agitated at those who touch my car when they're weaving through traffic; my new car now already has a light scratch due to a motorbike who tried to squeeze through in stopped traffic

As a car driver, I personally like the MC lanes implemented since it gives me an idea of where to be more cautious of MCs, and i know where exactly they are going to stay most of the time when we're on the road.

sabi nila ang tamang pagmomotor daw eh you should drive like it like a 4wheeled. yung spacing and keeping to your lane wag lagi magovertake.

Yup, especially in moving traffic, you treat the motorbike as if it has 4 wheels, so it would have 4 theoretical corners.

^I can say that majority of motor drivers dont do that and probably dont know that.

Ang kinaiisian ko sa mga nagmomotor ay:

    2. I am appalled why there are no laws penalizing idiots who make their 2-wheels into a family car. You know what I mean: a scooter with 2 adults and 2 or more children sandwiched between them. If that doesn't scream "rolling accident", I dunno what will.

Please don't misunderstand me, I respect their right to use the road, kaya lang idadamay ako ng mga ungas na yan ng di oras.

If I were a motorcycle rider, especially those underbone riders I would opt not to go through edsa. Why? You can plan routes where you probably will not even traverse edsa. Case in point from say makati to san juan, no need to go thru edsa for that.

Motorcycles do not have aircon so you inhale more pollutants because of density of cars and buses. Also having an extra passenger is a burden to riders na pasikutsikot sa traffic.
In most cases when I drive my car I try to avoid plying edsa especially on rush hour. All you need is a city map and do some experimenting on routes that are less travelled.

Mahirap kasi sa metro manila magulo ang city planning, also madaming large blocks of residential developments na private, di ka makakalusot so kaunti lang arteries.

Someone said it, dapat talaga develop the mass transit and make it more efficient, gridlock abot natin in less than ten years.

True. Not all drivers really are aware of this (even MC riders). It's hard to follow though as with our traffic conditions, leaving a little space in front of you makes you prone to being cut off immediately.

actually, may mga batas na para dyan:

    1. walang backlights: this SHOULD be checked yearly whenever a vehicle is up for renewal of registration. kaya lang, alam mo na ang sistema ng LTO. uso ang non-appearance ng sasakyan. also add to the equation that LEOs do not cite erring motorists on this regard.

    2. there is an anti-overloading regulation. this is a glaring case where law enforcers do not have "teeth" to implement the law. kung ang jeep hayaan lang mag-overload, scooter or motor, even private cars pa.

it's all in the implementation of laws. kulang sa political will.

This is my honest thoughts about this. I drive car and motorcycles.

Try it and you'll know

I hate motorcycles who counter flow on the road when their lane is clogged up. A motorcycle did just this and hit my driver's side mirror. They are looking for trouble when they do this and they do this often. They even force you to move aside just to let them through and I always worry that they might scratch my bumpers when they weave in and out of traffic.

wag magalit sa MOTORCYCLES kundi sa mga nagmamaneho ng mga motorcycles. a motorcycle by itself is just a machine. it's the people behind the handle bars you should get irritated/angry of; but not all riders are undisciplined~~ you generalize too much.

You are quite right with crazy car drivers. Car drivers are guilty of being undisciplined as well. However, the discussion is about motorcycle drivers who can get on your nerves. My friend got really upset the other day when a motorcycle hit his camaro and left a deep scratch. Would the motorcycle driver pay? Nope, he just sped away leaving my friend fuming mad.

With the frequency of run-ins between car drivers and motorcycle drivers in traffic, it is only a matter of time before a crazy undisciplined driver takes matters in their own hands and we'd read about it in the news.

Mind you, I'm not condoning bad behaviour but discipline starts within all of us.

daming hatred ... motor man o kotse kung wala talaga disiplina maaksidente at makaka aksidente ... sa DUI lang im sure lahat dito guilty ... wag nyo na i-single out yung naka motor kung kayo mismo eh hindi totally malinis at walang violation na kahit katiting.

death on the road statistics speaks for itself.. kung sino ang namumuro.. they pay the price with their limbs and sadly, quite a lot as well, with their lives before they realize (or their family for their sake since they're already a cold corpse) how they should conduct themselves on the road. just sucks to be the owner of the car they inconveniently crashed into.

I dont hate MC driver that much, I give them respect, the same respect I give to other cars, pag gusto sumingit, pinasisingit ko, niluluwagan ko pa para di ako tamaan.
