MAGIC GETS 1ST FRANCHISE WIN

The 11 game losing steak is now history!

After suffering crushing defeats against different opponents, the Team Magic (formerly known as the Orange Gators) finally win one and it was something they would remember.

The Magic showed their nerves in the endgame as it shocked the Team Blupers 71-68 in the first game of the triple header in the classification phase of the 6th PinoyExchange.com Basketball Cup in the Acropolis Subdivision in Mandaluyong City last Saturday, September 12, 2009.

The troika of Snoop_Dog, Mau Gwapito and Riceph stood tall for the Team Magic as they delivered key baskets to give the first ever victory for the Ecko_01 franchise.

It was an exciting game as both teams exchange leads before the Magic finally built a 9 point lead 61-52 in the final quarter.

But the Blupers suddenly woke up as Jhunibee, Doc_02 and Aure started chipping away the lead of the Magic.

But the Magic wouldn't be denied as they relied on their defense towards the end wherein they stopped the offense of the Blupers who were trying to tie the game with a 3 pointer.

In the second game, Team Arsenals bounced back from a heartbreaking defeat against the Team Packers last week by beating Team Pages 68-59.

Obi Kenobi waxed hot in the game as he scored a gameday high 32 points including the baskets that pulled the Arsenals away from the Pages.

Boytoy1411 and Rommel1311 also had a good game as they supported Obi Kenobi in the offense with 18 and 17 points respectively.

Cain, voodoo and Ohms Ilagan led the PAges by scoring 18 points a piece.

The game actually was actually close up until halfway of the payoff period wherein the Pages committed costly turnovers which the Arsenals converted it to points.

In the main game, defending champions Team spartans opened its season with a bang by trashing Team wildcats 99-43.

From the start, the Spartans showed their might and never gave the Wildcats a chance to recover.

Bigbadwolf as usual was a force to reckon with in the shaded lane while the rest of the Spartans showed a terrific passing game which created scoring opportunities for every one.

Rookie Kristoff15 suprised everyone as he led the Spartans with 17 points while Bigbadwolf, Rds4, Pakyas, Gamberro and Zarc scored in double figures

SPARTANS, PACKERS STAY UNBEATEN

The Team Spartans and Team Packers remained the only 2 unbeaten teams in the 7 team field after defeating their respective opponents in the 3rd Gameday of the 6th PinoyExchange.com Basketball Cup in Mandaluyong city.

The Packers used their speed at defense to register an exciting come from behind win against the luckless Team Pages 82-80 while the undermanned Spartans used their familiarty with each other to upend the Team Magic 91-73.

Veteran MIk3_Baby rose to the occasion once more as he hit key baskets for the Packers which broke the back of the Pages in the 4th period.

A 13-0 blast ending with a 3 pointer by Mik3_baby gave the Packers a 79-72 lead with less than 2 minutes remaining in the game.

The Pages tried to mount a comeback with birthday boy Voodoo and Cloud_45 scoring on the offensive end for the Pages to cut the deficit to 4 80-76.

But a missed basket by Voodoo after his steal in the Pages court was a costly one for the TEam Pages.

Mik3_Baby calmly shot the 2 freebies to give the Packers some breathing room with an 82-78 lead.

Pages had one last shot to force overtime after Rom Yj Gold was fouled taking a 3 pointer with 0.4 seconds left.

After making the first 2 free throws to cut the lead to 2, 82-80, Rom Yj Gold intentionally missed the last free throw but bigboy Melant8 secured the rebound to give the second straight win for the Packers.

It was a sorry loss for the Pages who were leading by at least 8 points in the last 5 minutes of the game but ran out of gas as the team fell in love with the jumpers while the Packers led by their rookies Stu and Felixbacatna! delivered the goods for their team including the highlight play of the game wherein the 5'5 Felixbacatna! blocked the fastbreak drive of veteran MightyOhms.

Meanwhile, The Team Spartans also rolled to their 2nd straight victory as they brought back to earth Team Magic.

Playing minus, Bigbadwolf, Jensen04, Diesel21, Ianmadrid and Kristoff15, the Team Spartans made up of mostly Tuesday Club Ballers showed what stuff they're made of as controlled the tempo right from the very start using their quickness, passing skills and hustle to shut down the offense of the Magic.

Palaboy Laboy was on fire as he drained 5 triples to finish with 21 points while Y.A.N aka Gayle got a double double with 16 points and 16 rebounds.

In the curtain raiser, The Team Arsenals finally pulled one over Team Blupers after 2 seasons of frustration with a close 81-78 win.

The tandem of Obi Kenobi and Pao worked wonders for the Arsenals as the two combined for 55 points and 16 rebounds.

It was a typical Blupers-Arsenals game wherein neither team had the upperhand as both teams did a little comeback of their own during the game.

The Arsenals found their groove in the 4th period as they got a 7 point lead with time down to the last 5 minutes.

But the never say die Blupers led by reigning MVP Jackass once again orchestrated a come back that got the Blupers within one 79-78 with 5 seconds left.

But the Blupers forgot to foul the Arsenals and the White team wasted the seconds on the clock.

The Blupers had one last chance to force OT with 0.3 seconds left but Jackass 3 pointer fell short as the buzzer sounded.

ONLY ONE...

SPARTANS DEFEAT PACKERS TO REMAIN THE ONLY UNBEATEN TEAM IN THE LEAGUE.


Team Spartans remained the only unbeaten team in the 6th PinoyExchange.com Basketball League after beating the Team Packers 79-66 in an exciting game last Saturday at the Acropolis Subdivision in Mandaluyong City.


Last season's number 1 rookie pick Jensen04 proved to be the man of the hour for the Spartans as he took over the scoring chores this time for the Spartans in the critical 3rd period where the defending champions roared to a huge 18 point lead after being forced to a close game by the previously unbeaten Packers.

Jensen04 scored 9 big points in that period alone in route to his team high 18 points.

The game was very closed in the beginning wherein the Packers jumped to an early 7-2 lead and ended the first quarter leading 18-17.

But the Spartans regrouped and unleashed a run in the 2nd period anchored by Jensen04 and Zarc to take the lead at halftime at 39-32.

Come 3rd period when everyone is expecting a comeback from the Packers, Jensen04 scored 8 straight points to silence the Packers side.

However, the Packers suddenly came alive in the last quarter led by rookie Felixbacatna! and veteran Mik3_baby as the Packers were able to cut the lead down to 7; 67-60

Included in the run is another highlight play of the game by pintsized Felixbacatna! who scored a difficult layup over the two Spartan defenders.

But the Spartans would not let the game slip away from their hands as Y.A.N, Renvic, Swoopes and Bigbadwolf finished off the Packers with their key baskets


Meanwhile in the second game, Team Magic continued their amazing season as they outclassed Team Wildcats 101-73.

Dada02 scored a career high 29 points while Riceph had 19 points and 18 rebouds to help the Magic notched their second win in four outings.

The Magic used a big first quarter run to leave the Wildcats behind, who appreared to disoriented in offense and defense early on.

With the win, the Magic moved up to 4th place overall in the team stadings

The Team Blupers found its way back to the winning column despite playing with an undermanned roster after trashing the Team Pages 83-52 in the continuation of the 6th PinoyExchange.com Basketball Cup eliminations in Acropolis Gym, Mandaluyong City.

Reigning MVP Jackass had a big night as he sizzled with a tournament high 40 points to reward the Blupers their 2nd win in 4 outings.

Included in that offensive onslaught by Jackass was a League high 9 3-pointers that caught the Pages off guard particularly in the final period where the Blupers completely demolished the Pages.

Lending a helping hand for Jackass was Blupers' offseason recruit Darkwin who scored 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds while unsung hero Freedom012 had 9 points and career high 18 rebounds.

The Pages who were also undermanned as only 5 players suited up for the game, were led by Cloud 45's 19 points and Voodoo's 11 points and 19 rebounds

Meanwhile, The Team Arsenals notched their 3rd straight victory in the tournament as they defeated a vastly imporved Team Wildcats 94-61 in the main game.

Boytoy1411 had a career high 21 points, including 10 in the first period alone while Obi Kenobi topscored for the Arsenals with 22 points.

With the win, the Arsneals grabbed solo 2nd place with 3 wins and 1 loss.

Jamino12 had a monster game for the Wildcats as he finished with 14 points and 15 rebounds.

Suprisingly the Wildcats, despite the loss, went home happy as they played with more intensity compared to their other losses.
