Any wood based floors is susceptible to water damage laminate or solid. If that's the case just install Ceramic Tiles..

Or is laminate flooring, regardless of brand or quality, a no-no in any area where flooding is possible.
I really dont know, hinde nagbabaha kasi sa lugar namin (so far) but i recall sa manual ng Pergo that they warn against places that are being moist most of the times, like basements. However, kung mga occasional coffee spill or jingle ng mga makuklit na pamangkin, basahan lang ang katapat.

Dont settle for 'pwede na' be it your client or for personal use. always seek the higher priced model.

just like most wood flooring or even the hardest of hardwood products, warp when they get wet or soaked with water..most HDF laminate flooring after getting soaked under flood water also warp and deform permanently, this means you have change the entire flooring.
I witnessed personally that 100% water resistant floors will warp a little in the joints if they get soaked under water but upon drying up a few weeks later they return to their original form.good investment di ba?

pardon my ignorance, but a friend has told me about a kind of wood flooring (planks) that has some sort of cushion or rubber under it which is ideal for bedrooms...but she doesnt know the name or what it's called...i was wondering if this pergo flooring fits this description?

PERGO flooring uses the floating flooring technology wherein a thin sheet of 2mm thick pe foam is spread first before laying the pergo wood planks over it.the foam's purpose is to level up somehow the unevennness of the existing subfloor and to serve as sound insulator as well.
It is ideal for bedrooms or any room in the house that has a dry setting. With its pre-finished surface,it is also ideal for renovation because you can lay it over any existing level floor.Renovation is really quick and dustless.

Hello Lilit, I think what you mean is ROBINA flooring made in Malaysia, yes it's core board is made of tropical hardwood and this contributes somehow to its anti-anay properties.

Apparently my next choice after PERGO ,I have used ROBINA floors in my bedrooms .It has 100%water-repellant joints just like PERGO (their joints have wax sealants protecting them from moisture and accidental spillage of water so less or no warping at all )you may contact 0915-4851113 robina flooring contractor as im satisfied with the product's performance.

Was she referring to putting polyethylene foam (e.g., 2 mm with built-in moisture barrier) under laminate flooring? If so, then that is standard/recommended practice when installing any kind of laminate flooring, not just Pergo. The use of foam has nothing to do with the brand of laminate flooring.

The use of foam may even be not limited to laminate flooring but also other kinds of flooring involving planks, e.g., wood, engineered wood, including bamboo.

You can get Robina laminate flooring for only P680/sqm.inclusive of foam underlay and installation already. Please Contact Fast Floors0915-4851113 or (02)717-0088.Office/showroom is in Sunshine Square , Shaw blvd. in Mandaluyong.

I like the new mimicri designer wood series of APO vinyl floors.they come in matte finish which makes uneven subfloors less noticeable..the color choices are also very attractive and very updated.Proud to say they're locally made in our own country.

Ok din ang MATIMCO Wood Product. In one of her showroom, my daugther use this product for the flooring. Once the display was over, she bought the flooring and install in in one of our bedroom. It is still looking good to this day.

frankly i have no idea, basta raw may foam, ang pagka-intindi ko parang nakadikit sya sa plank mismo...

so standard pala yung nilalagyan ng foam under the laminate flooring...it's kinda confusing choosing the right kind of flooring material...gusto namin yung wood, yung good quality sana pero yung hindi mahal...kaya naisip namin na vinyl wood na lang kung may good quality...

@basti: any idea how long the APO vinyl will last if used in the bedroom?

@joma: is MATIMCO wood also vinyl? sorry i have very limited knowledge on these....how long has it been since you installed it?

yung mga parquet wood floors dati, what is the counterpart material today in terms of its durability?

Tama ang sinabi na nilalagyan ng foam. Ang paliwanag ay sound absorption at merong softness. I disagree sa waterproof but I'm not a pro.
Matimco wood laminate is just like Pergo and ours is 11 years. I have no idea about vinyl floor except that its much less expensive.

Hindi ba out of style na ang wood parquet? And isnt's it harder to install and easily chipped off?
I don't think so...depende sa paglalagyang area at kung paano idinesign iyung luob ng bahay/area na gagamitan ng wood parquet. The 'common pattern' still looks good for bedroom areas and/or home offices. It is a tedious task to install it - the layout has to be checked so that the excess in dimension can be dealt with appropriately.Preparation plays a crucial role for durability. The concrete topping has to be thoroughly cleaned before the parquet pieces are stuck with the glue and after sanding, 3 layers of polyurethane after applying the sanding sealer makes the flooring last a long time.

I remember seeing bamboo parquet tile being exhibited at one of those construction shows a few years ago. Locally made by Buglas Bamboo Institute in Dumaguete. I don't know if they are still producing it or still in business.

Vinyl tiles may be cheap and durable but it seems the glue is the weak link. There's always a tile or few tiles that come loose after awhile. Especially if it gets wet.

I'm not sure about Robina but our dogs seem irritated, they have to walk slowly or else nadudulas sila - as observed by our households.
