what's the difference between wood laminates and engineered wood?

Yes.. Mas ok ang engineered wood as long as long as the local manufacturer followed standard 1/16" top ply thickness. Engineered wood is like a plywood basically. May mga ply na opposite grain kaya mas stable pa ito sa solid wood. Mahal ngalang as oppose to sa medyo unpopular ng wood parquet.

Try to consider medyo high end Vinyl tiles fro apo that looks like carpet tiles. It really looks promising and also sadly walang major distributor dito ang Armstrong. They make one of the best linoleum floors. Maganda rin ang linoleums kaya lang the best brands didn't reach our shores. Even Matha Stewart made a line of designer series Linoleum and vinyl floorings.
I used those APO mimicry vinyl tiles (cost around 126php 450x450x3mm - gainswell marketing) on an office renovation project. They look odd. I’m all for integrity of materials and I was very opposed to using it. However, the pattern I used matches the real “carpet” I installed in the other areas of the office (can’t use real carpet in IT area). It takes getting used to but looks ok after a month or so.

Also, are we talking about the same Krono brand by August Alliance (also distributes Kronospan, Kronoflooring)? If we are, their planks are top notch. You might be talking about Kronospan. Krono is eeeexpensive. And very nice. I specify Krono for high end condominium model units.

I don't know if their related but I was referring to the cheaper kind of Laminated flooring kronotex.

I'm pretty open to using vinyl materials but sadly here we are have been familiarized with the kinds of APO and KENT vinyls when it come to flooring. It's a shame that the likes of Armstrong, Congoleum, and more.. didn't have good distributors here. If there was there was no marketing what so ever to get notice. I've encountered a few but it was shipped over. If I have the resources I would have marketed them here.

^^ the good vinyls are surprisingly expensive. sometimes, it's as expensive as mid end homogenous tiles. (e.g. vinly flooring of coffee bean)

we don't have higher end vinyls here because those that have the money would rather spend them in tiles and those who don't would rather buy the cheapest they can afford.

in short - no market demand.

    ^ you have a point there.. =)

What do you recommend pala for room floorings?

Hi guys, newbie here. Hindi na ako nagmimithi ng Pergo 'coz it's waayyy out of our budget. I'm considering the following brands: Environ (distributed by JME Supreme), Steiger (distributed by the same co. that distributes Pergo) and Eurotex. They're all found at Westgate Alabang Home Depot. They're about the same price, around P600/sq.m.

I would greatly appreciate any feedback (good or bad) that you may have regarding these brands. Thanks!!!

    Stieger at Design Source

Stieger is also distributed by Design Source. It offers 6 years warranty.

At the Alabang Home Depot, look for Ernol Madamba and request for a quotation. Tell him you were referred by Weng from Las Piñas. Definitely pasok sa budget na P600. Pwede pa credit card as someone posted here. Ü

Thanks, happy_pomelo! We did visit Design Source, P599/sq.m. with foam and installation ang quote sa amin for Steiger.

Ang ganda sana ng Pergo but it's so pricey. Their top of the line is P2,999/sq.m., their cheapest is P999/sq.m.

Is this directed to me? Actually, nag-inquire pa lang kami. They said with installation, so I guess yun na yung labor, unless mali ang assumption ko, hehe.
