Laminate floors are invented with a top layer made of melamine resins. They are already very tough ,scratch-resistant and hard-wearing.So I dont think applying varnish will add any further protection to the floor. This might also void the warranty conditions of the floor, if it has a wear warranty attached to it.

The decorative layer of laminate flooring is not real wood .It's just a picture or photograph of real wood printed on paper.it is not possible to change the shade by applying wood stain on it.

Do you automatically consider the flooring to be permanently damaged and hold the roofing contractor responsible for replacing (or reimbursing the cost of replacing) the damaged flooring?

Or is it possible that the flooring is not permanently damaged and can "recover" after some time if allowed to dry out. Meaning the edges will unswell and the thin dark line between planks will gradually disappear?
You may like to wait a few more weeks of drying time to check if the laminate flooring can still "recover" and return to it's original state.

But most HDF laminate flooring will NOT "recover" and will be damaged by the flooding "permanently".This means you have to bear with the ugly swelling or option 2 -replace the whole flooring, making you pay double.(Hope your roofing contractor reimburses the cost.)

It would be advisable to invest wisely in HDF laminate flooring with vacumat technology (4 sides water-repellent joints) with it's coreboard made of tropical hardwood. These added features have been tested to minimize the swelling damage after being soaked with water.
I've encountered a flooded bedroom ,same experience with a kitchen that have recovered after being soaked under 4" of water.

One more concern, after being soaked w water, the wet HDF laminate flooring may be vulnerable to termite attacks, I've also encountered a bedroom with termite-infested HDF laminated flooring in the Cainta area.

Glad to inform everybody that there's an available laminate flooring product here in manila with 10 year manufacturer's warranty against termite-attacks.

Invest only with Robinaflooring and Pergo Universal /Family laminate flooring. They have these added features.- tel.4999-207/0915-6716333.basti

mas gusto ko ang engineered bamboo flooring.. as long as compacted talaga at maayos.. pero baka yung realwood ng apo mas ok sa vibration..

laminated flooring will always be cheaper but they are using softwood or plywood hence kapag hinila mo yung furniture mo mabilis sya magasgas. Konti lang difference nung price niya from hard wood e.g mahogany or tanguile at mas tatagal sya compare sa laminated flooring . For Further inquiries you may reach us at 09274500041/ 024278263 or email us at edgeswoodproducts@gmail.com .Regarding dun sa quotation nun room size mo ma'am, we'll be glad to forward you a quotation we just need to know the measurement in square ft po so if you can convert it to sq ft so we can provide you quotations much better. TIA

    Laminated Flooring by Basti

for the laminated flooring, we got Basti's service, robina wood laminates ang kinuha naming brand... my transaction with Sherwin (owner) was smooth and hassle-free. the wood laminates were installed nicely.

i never met Sherwin in person at all. we only talked on the phone and he would send his workers to do the job, after installation, i just deposited my payment in his bank account. very convenient! sobrang daling kausap ng taong ito.

    thanks Sherwin!

I highly recommend this supplier... got him from this forum.. thanks to Pex hehe...

his products are Pergo and Robina, if I am not mistaken Dumafloor din ata.

    Wood Floor Questions

Hi guys. Been lurking here for sometime and am finally building my house.

Am doing budgeting for the flooring of my house, which is in the early stages of construction.

As I'd like a quote for hardwood flooring (anay-resistant sana) inclusive of installation for a 80sqm total floor area. . . including my man-cave na attic music room (include na rin for free additional sound-proofing dun kasi wood yung subfloor nung music room . . . )

Just for comparison, am looking at APO rosewood or JME teakwood hardwood flooring as benchmarks. . . we fortunately have a budget for realwood flooring (over the concrete slab and wood sub floor) and would like some suggestions if the 2 brands mentioned above are ok and if they are or can be made anay-proof.

    Thanks guys!

I seen to notice that the laminated wood seems to shrink a little over time. I've used both laminated and vinyl in some projects. Both have their pros and cons but in the long run. I think i would go for the vinyl wood planks. I personally love the DELUXE series of Kent vinyl tiles. Very tasteful but its a little expensive at a 100+ / 6x36" tile.
