    Wood laminate flooring

We're about to do the flooring of my house, particularly, the bedrooms. We'll use wood laminate flooring and I specified Pergo brand. But my contractor asked if we could change to cheaper brands since Pergo is too expensive. He named Steiger, said to be a sister company of Pergo and only half the price. When I made some research, I couldn't find this brand in the internet. When I asked some vendors, they said it is made in China and stressed that they encounter problems with some China made brands.

To those who have experience, what brand can you recommend for laminated flooring, particularly in the mid-priced or affordable market? Are there better alternatives?

Well, theres Hans floor. Pero sa totoo lang nasa Pergo ang vote of confidence ko talaga. I you think it's way out of your range mag wood parquet ka na lang.. Try inquiring about other Pergo selection. Dati kase when I started using this mga 15 years ago they still have that other system, an old one, when it's still using glue then the click system came na mas mahal. Even the distro na design Source cannot give the same warranty for the other line they carry like the one you where saying. So obviously mas inferior ang quality nya di ba?

pergo talaga maganda in terms of quality and looks

even my 3 year old kid said "wow! beautiful floor!"

tumatanggap ng credit card ang design source, utangin mo na lang.

php 899 per sqm is worth it talaga. meron pa nga sila mas mahal, yun ang di ko na kinaya.

i agree with sir cyber and sir marui63t..pergo pa rin..i didnt get my pergo from design source though...kasi cheaper yung offer samin nung isa, but same quality and warranty....sayang din ang 5k noh!! :-)

Ok ang looks ng Krono kahit limited and design. Problem with Krono is the wear and tear resistance nya. Pero kung kwarto lang na low traffic naman pwede na ang krono. Wag lang madalas daanan ito tatagal naman pero still it wont last as long as The PERGO brand.

Try to consider medyo high end Vinyl tiles fro apo that looks like carpet tiles. It really looks promising and also sadly walang major distributor dito ang Armstrong. They make one of the best linoleum floors. Maganda rin ang linoleums kaya lang the best brands didn't reach our shores. Even Matha Stewart made a line of designer series Linoleum and vinyl floorings.

Thanks for the feedback. Hindi ba out of style na ang wood parquet? And isnt's it harder to install and easily chipped off?

Going back to wood laminate, a friend suggested Kronotex or Kronospan/Krono Original. He said this is a compromise since these brands are more in the middle in terms of price. They are also imported from Germany. Are these reliable brands?

I'm just worried about the low priced brands made in China like Hornitex and Kentwood and Steiger which I couldn't even find in the net.

P1,112 per sq.m ang quote ng contractor for Pergo. He suggested half of that P620 per sq.m. for Steiger. I inquired, Kronotex is P771 per sq.m. and Krono Original at 834 per sq.m.

According to the vendor, Kronospan has a China-made line here that is supervised by Krono itself. It is priced at P596 per sq.m. only. Baka ito yung mahinang klase. He recommended to me Krono Original that come from Germany as a better choice.

tama si sir cyber, meron ngang as low as 450/sqm..pati the other brands you've mentioned, kinonsider ko din before..kaya lang, after a lot of research and q&a portion based from the 1st hand users, win pa rin ang pergo...wood parquet, ganun yung nasa bedrooms nung isang house namin which was built early 80's pa...you're right, pag nagtagal, natutuklap..though yung samin, til now, siguro mga 10 pcs pa lang ang natanggal..depende pa rin sa nag-install, i think...

my pergo costed me 850/sqm..hindi nga kasi sa store ng home depot ako kumuha...i can refer you to him if you like, pa-quote ka lang. libre naman e!HTH
