Hi Sir Larry and Nathzki.

Buti meron na pa lang thread for accountancy students. I had just been thinking of such a thread like this. This is a little bit different from the CPA REVIEW THREAD. Thanks to you Sir Larry.

During the undergrad is the best timing in preparing for the actual board exam. I wish you will make it guys. Start preparing as of this time. It will surely pay off in due time. With regards to my recommended review materials, it's most advisable to follow that during your undergrad. Focus and concentration truly make a difference. The best weapon in a battle is nothing else than that of being prepared.

I got this quote from the previous post in the other thread. "dream to top, prepare to top, if you fail to top, you pass". You can make it guys. God bless.

    Can't argue with the topnotcher!

If your foundation is weak, the review will not be of help at all. Have to make sure you have a good foundation to be able to make it and do good in the board exams!

    All lies on the student!

    Kaya natin yan!

    Hi future colleagues,

Aral lang mabuti ha. Accountancy is a very good course. How to successfully finish it? Well, just follow this formula:

[(Desire x Discipline x Constant preparation) + Prayers] = Success

It worked for me. Hope it worked for you too.

    Good day.

Isa na lang naman yata ang available na book sa Financial Accounting, aside from the one authored by Atty. Valix, the one authored by Empleo & Robles. Ito ang prescribed book sa UST (where the authors teach) & PUP where Mrs. Robles also teach.

Survey addressed to the accountancy students:

Aside from the prescribed book by your school/professor, do you also use another book or a reviewer-book as a reference material to master the topics/subjects? Any feedback on your books & reference materials used?

Do you also use handouts from review centers as supplementary materials?

In answering this question, please indicate the prescribed book & reference materials you are using.

    To answer Sir Larry's question:

    1. Yes, in most Accounting subjects, we are using another book, reviewer books and powerpoint presentations mostly from foreign adopted books as a reference materials. Feedback? We exposed to more problems and to assess the degree of difficulty of each problem.

    2. We were using handouts from review center was only from Income Tax subject last semester because my professor is also a Tax reviewer somewhere in Manila.. hehe..

Ok pa rin ba mga accountancy professors niyo sa St Paul Manila?

  13. #73
yes, they're one of the top schools in recently concluded CPA board exam. Some professors of theirs are Bedans.

  14. #74

Hmm..okay naman po sila magturo, they provide us good reference materials in a particular topics para mas marami kaming matutunan, and lagi nila kaming binibigyan ng techniques how to solve and tips about sa board exam.

Intermediate Accounting by Keiso & Wedgandt (Wiley & Sons), and Intermediate Accounting by Stice, Stice & Skousen (Cengage/Thompson). Ingat lang these books are based on US GAAP or FBAS. If you can spot the difference between US GAAP & IFRS ok lang to use this as a reference. Otherwise, you might just get confused. Sa IFRS Workbook (Wiley) merong appendix summarizing the difference between US GAAP & IFRS.

    1. i bought other books..pero sobrang madalang ko magamit..konti *** oras ko magaral..i felt that if i fail in our exAms.. it's because i dont have the same resources my peers have..kaya bili *** ng bili..haha..i have valix-maganda kasi mas naeexplain...kay dayag- ang hirap nung prob.

Since hindi naman masyado nagwowork ang Valix discussion sakin, I tend to use other references po such as those by Meigs/Valencia-volume1 nga lang to/Wiley Financial accounting module to better comprehend the lessons.

As for me,malaki ang tulong ng mga diagrams and supporting procedures na naka incorporate sa books dun sa mga complex topics (my pagka visual learner kasi ako). Another thing,conceptual-analytical ang mga explanations nila. When I started using them nasasarapan na akong magpractice, kasi naman todo stick talaga sa mind ko yung mga techniques nila.I dunno nga lang po with the others, kunsabagay subjective naman po ang sagot sa unang tanong na ito.
2.Do you also use handouts from review centers as supplementary materials?
I have here in my arsenal collection of handouts coming from CRC-Ace and ResA(damn, wala akong makuha yung kay Tamayo for Tax,meechshane pwede paphotocopy yung sayo hihi)..
Time-saver pag gumamit ng handouts, sulit talaga ang pagod sa pag-iikot sa U-belt at Espanya hehehe..
