You should ask Anson, meron siyang lecture notes, super bilis intindihin.

Incoming second year student palang po ako and for me, hindi talaga madali ang Accountancy. It needs your maximum time, focus, energy and priority. Nakakakaba talaga.

I really like this course, I can't imagine myself taking up any other. Some of my batchmates gave up already and some failed.. Hah, nakakakaba talaga!

I asked them to collect the review materials of the different review centers, & filed these by subject & by topic.

May isa akong 2nd year Accountancy student before, high school valedictorian, nabanggit niya before, the first time they were required to read books on their own, inaabot siya ng 4 na araw to finish one chapter of Intermediate Accounting Book by Kieso, nung nasanay, 4 hours na lang one chapter.

Tip ko lang, ask your teachers to given you key answers for all questions & problems sa book. That way, you can always double-check kung tama ang ginagawa mo.

    Cheers.

BTW, nag 14th place siya sa board exam.

    Dear Accountancy Students:

I suggest you read the latest post of Leomar Cabarles (#2 in the May 2009 CPA Board Exam) sa CPA Review Thread, good tips especially for someone coming from a so-so school. How he made all things happen for him.

I'll work hard to improve my reading comprehension skills.

14th place? Wow, ang galing naman nya! Sana maabot ko din yang ganyan, I'll definitely work hard!

Thank you po ulit, Sir Larry!
    God bless!

Hello, can anyone please help me with this Financial Management problem?

On January 1, 2005, Mylene obtains a P60,000 loan from ABC bank. Payment of P10,000 on the principal plus 8% semi-annual interest on the unpaid balance is expected every six months. The final payment is supposed to be on January 1, 2008. After the January 1, 2007 payment, DEF Financing Company offers to buy the note from ABC Bank. DEF Financing Company requires a 20% annual interest compounded semi-annually. At what price should DEF Financing Company offer to buy the note?

This was a problem from our final examination and it was never explained to us by our professor. The part about DEF Company requiring "a 20% annual interest compounded semi-annually." confuses me kaya hindi ko masigurado ang gagawin ko with the problem.

Anybody here who can help me?

    Thanks..

I want to ask if I can still use my Uncle's books as reference in accounting even if it is published about 1980's (Financial Accounting and Adv. Accounting). What do you think?

There have been a lot of changes in financial accounting and advanced accounting so I don't think it is good to use the old books. There may be some topics that are applicable but you have to make sure to know the updates.

But if it is cost or managerial accounting, the books are still relevant

I don't know his age but he is now a CPA lawyer.

I hope I can achieve that too. Nakakainspire rin po yung mga stories dito.

What books can you suggest that have many kinds of accounting problems. I want to practice more on different kinds of problems about financial accounting and reporting. Yun po kasi itetake namin this 2nd year. I would like also to ask if you don't mind about the long distance from home to school affects the performance of a student?(add ko lang po) Ano po opinion n'yo? Thanks!

The travel of long distance from home to school has an effect especially if you are commuting!

The physical strain slowly takes its toll on you not only physically but mentally as well.

Imagine mo na lang if you are commuting for 2 hours on a regular day...what more pag umuulan....

I had a classmate who lives in Laguna and commutes to the review school in Recto.

After a few weeks, start na ang kanyang absenteeism because tinatamad na siya sa haba ng travel time. Ayan, she was the only casualty in our block

    Hello Larry!

Hi Larry! It's been years! Our batch was surely something but it was proof that even the "promdis" can make it. Yes, being a CPA Lawyer has its advantages and I started doing what interests me most which is doing information systems development. The cross functionality really helps. Was just appointed by the President as the latest Deputy Commissioner of the National Telecommunications Commission. It's nice to know you're with AIM and doing consultancy work too. May take up graduate studies in AIM at some point in my life after my stint with government. Great to know you're really successful now. Keep on.

    Hi Douglas,

How are you!!! Nice to hear you're doing great. Presidential appointee ka na pala sa NTC. Manila-based ka na ba? Kita tayo minsan & let's have lunch together. Si Ronnie Mastrili, VP-Finance na sa GMA-7, the others in our batch, I only get in touch with thru Facebook.

Guys, please welcome the topnotcher of the October 1986 CPA Board Exam - Douglas Malillin, a graduate of St. Louis University - Baguio & a groupmate of mine at SGV.

Keep in touch, Bro. By the way, I will be bringing my 120 MBA students to Baguio July 3 - 5. Will you be in Baguio on those dates? Might visit my former MBA students, the Bautista couple of Baguio University.
